What would everyone say their favourite retro console was?

Mines definately the Megadrive, infact the megadrive is probably my favourite console altogether. Its the one where I remember having the most fun on games on my own and with loads of friends.

This is a tough one for me personally, as the SNES and N64 had so many gems; in the end i'd stump for the SNES thanks to illusion of time, terranigma, chrono trigger, Super Mario World andALTTP; just to name a few....lol

Although not 'retro' in the sense of the word, but I'll go with the N64. Some of the finest games ever made were the norm practically every month on that machine, and the controller paved the way for the future of gaming. OOT, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64 and Banjo kazooie/Tooie were my faves from the '64.

Although I never owned one, id would say the N64, so many great games and a great looking console, i really wish id bought one.

I'm also going to say the N64 - GoldenEye, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, the two Zeldas, all top notch.

I played GoldenEye the other day for the first time in ages, and it's still superb. What I wouldn't give for a remake on Revolution, with the new controller like your own Walther PPK!

- N64 - for me;

Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, F-Zero X, Mario Tennis, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Perfect Dark, Yoshi's Story, Banjo Kazooie, Beetle Adventure Racing,

All the games i played on this console were classics!!

If the Dreamcast counts as a retro console i loved that too;

but N64 was the best IMO!

My first console was a Mega Drive, but it doesn't have enough great games and Sonic doesn't quite reach the leetness of Mario. I also have great memories of N64. maybe even more than SNES, so come to think of it it's a tie between N64 and SNES.

Megadrive or SNES. SNES for classics like Tetris Attack, Pop'n Twinbee and Illusion of Time, and Megadrive because Sonic 2 was my first 16-bit game ever and it still holds up to rigorous play today.

Has to be the N64, afterall it had games like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye, all of which (in my opinion of course) are genre defining games (basically they float my boat :wink: )

..when people ask me what my favourite games are, I always tell them a list of games where the majority (if not all) are from the N64.. including Goldeneye, 1080, Lylat Wars, Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: OOT, Banjo-Kazooie.. so it has to be the Nintendo 64 for me.. so many great memories.. :)
