Went to my sister's for the weekend for drinks with her, her husband and a two of her friends (including the one I like). I actually had drinks that I enjoyed and had a lot of fun. I got on pretty well with everyone. I definitely needed a night like that.

Also, no proper hangover in terms of hangovers or memory loss, but I do still feel a bit light-headed.

Got most of my Disney sleeves last night and they look awesome. The only problem is that they sent me The Emperors New Groove twice and not sent me Tangled, Meet The Robinsons or Fantasia 2000 but I've seen on DMR that they ain't been shipped yet. Also, they screwed up Beauty and the Beast AMD gave me the 3D slip of the cover from 5 years ago.

Still they do look better even with the odd few missing

After a lull in the property market in the area we've been looking at (not one for sale since October), we're finally viewing another house tomorrow. A 3 bedroom house too, whereas we've previously been looking at 2 bedrooms.

To celebrate, I've come up with some framed prints that I might get done at work. A mockup:

Went to view the place and to be honest it was a dump. Really messy, but it had a lot of potential. Every room would need a good clean, repainting and new carpet, but the size and layout was very good. The location was pretty good too.

But fuck me, when it rains it pours. Whilst we were viewing that house, I got an email telling me about another property nearby that looked amazing, although with worse parking. Then I went back to look at the house again and also see if I could find the one in the email and I saw that the house next to the one we viewed this morning is also for sale. So that house should have the same location, but hopefully be much nicer inside.

So we've gone from no potential houses last week to having 3 this week. We've viewed one and we're viewing the other 2 on Saturday. Am excite.

Spent the last two nights baking for work as it's my birthday on Saturday.

Slutty brownies (chocolate chunk cookie chunks held together with melted rolos as the base, layer of double stuff oreos then brownie mix) and an almond, lemon and raspberry cake thing.

SUGAR.

Also, birthday on Saturday and next week off work. YEAH BOY!

I never knew holidays were so, like... viable. My girl and I are planning New York this year (wooooo!) and it's not exactly cheap... but as a consequence I've had a look at last minute deals and all that stuff and... wow. I can do that..! Barcelona flights and hotel 3 nights for £90? sure! Miami 3 nights and flights £300? Nice! I literally just assumed everything costed loooads.

@Goafer how's the market where you are? I'm wanting to move in with my girlfriend and we don't want to share. Generally an average 2-bed is £1200 here. A nice 1-bed is £900, if not more. So harsh. But then I visited my mates in London recently and one of them was paying £1100 for a fairly basic 1-bed flat, which was just not a pleasant place to be in either..!

We haven't really been looking into the rental side of things, but I'd say about 800 a month isn't far off (possibly for a 2 bed, although I can't be sure), depending where abouts you looked. Generally, the closer to Oxford you get, the sillier prices get.

Edit: just checked and there are plenty of 2 bedroom places for around £700 per month. 1 bedroom/studio flats start at around £500, but they look tiny/crap locations.

Context time!

When I was there, I lived on 42nd street, that's basically a few blocks from Times Square (which fyi I'm looking at staying when I go for my friend's 30th next year). It was about $3000 a month.

Honestly going to NY (I'm going back to Manhattan next year for my friends birthday) is just crazy. You could so easily go to Thailand for similar money - for longer and have the best time.

Or y'know go to Malta for like 5 times in a year. :shakehead

Who would want to go to Miami for 3 nights? If you're going that far you might as well make it a decent trip.
