navarre
Pretty straightforward thread, who's your favourite actor in Hollywood and out of Hollywood? My favourite hollywood actor is Will Smith. I liked him before, but his role in I Am Legend just sealed his place for me. My favourite non-Hollywood actor is William Fichtner. Great in invasion (remember that?!?)? Check. great in TDK? Check. Great in Prison Break? Hell yeah. Brilliant actor with hopefully a good career ahead of him.
ReZourceman
William Fitchner is absolutely brilliant, and I would hire him for anything and everything. Him and Robert Knepper are the best actors I've experienced in shitty pop American shows (I like shitty popular American shows btw) :p This isn't a popular one but I adore Shia LaBeouf Rachel McAdams is lovely. Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, Steve Carell. Chris Evans I think is excellent. Nicolas Cage. Sam the Man. After Iron Man, RDJ.
Goafer
Oddly enough, I just finished watching Black Hawk Down, which had William Fichtner in. Awesome movie, despite having both Orlando Bloom and Josh Hartnet in. As far as actors go, I quite like Robert Downey Junior, Val Kilmer (mainly due to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Arnie and Stallone (I liked how they took the piss out of themselves/each other in Last Action Hero and Demolition Man) Edited August 17, 2009 by Goafer
Slaggis
I adore watching Anna Faris acting. There's just something about her, and the way you can always see the "dizty but cute" girl shining through. Other than that, I'd say Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Sophia Bush, Lisa Kudrow, Katherine Heigl and Rachel McAdams to name a few more. For men, I can only think of Gyllenhaal, Ledger and Efron. navarre
I always thought Arnie was trying not to laugh during Total Recal, although that may be down to the shiteness of the film more than anything.

Paj!
Don't have favourites per se, but there are some actors and actresses that have known range and capabilities, and that I become interested in a project because of. Meryl Streep, Javier Bardem, Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts, Penelope Cruz, Jack Nicholson are recent ones that have impressed me consistantly. Ninja Edit: Sigourney Weaver, Shelly Duvall etc all the goods. To be honest, all actors and actresses have made excellent and shite films, whether that's because of their abilities of the film's script/story is awful is a different matter. I mean, I thought Nicholas Cage was great in Adaptation (and from what I hear a few other films like Leaving Las Vegas), but every other film I've seen of his (except Wild At Heart, which was alright/good) makes me want to throw up. drahkon
Jim Carey <3 Especially in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. What a film =) This! Jim Carrey is great and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favourite Jim Carrey movies (besides Liar Liar ). Since yesterday (when I watched Iron Man and I saw the trailer fo Sherlock Holmes for the first time) Robert Downey Jr. is also on the list. Hugh Laurie = favourite actor right now. Simply because I love House MD. Don't forget Dustin Hoffman. Rainman made me cry. Another actor? Yes, Adam Sandler. Funny but also an amazing actor when it comes to sad scenes. Click almost made me cry and Reign over me did it 3 times
Noodleman
Yeah Adam Sandler's actualy a pretty good actor when he wants to be, sadly 95% of his films are utter bilge and he just phones in the performace.

Oxigen_Waste
Probably the best actors to have ever existed... #1 - Daniel Day-Lewis. #2 - Katharine Hepburn. #3 - Marlon Brando. ALSO, extremely alarming: you're all mentioning exclusively contemporary actors. It's frightening to see just how little our generation cares for past achievements. Shame on you!!! Oxigen_Waste
If the title was for people to list Best actors then maybe but this is favourite So? Does the fact that it's favourites negates the fact that you all have an almost complete disregard for past movies? All your favourites are contemporary actors, is what I'm saying. Don't try and have a snappy comeback if it's not gonna make any sense.
Ashley
Well its somewhat reasonable to expect people to see more contemporary films than olde days ones, just by the very nature of going to the cinema rather than appreciating film for its artistic history. For many the cinema is a leisure activity, not an artistic medium to explore. Yes you may see it as wrong, but it seems strange you don't see it as inevitable. Don't try and have a snappy comeback if it's not gonna make any sense. You really have a problem with people enjoying more recent movies dont you. This isnt the first time you've moaned about it and its getting very old. So what if people prefer more modern actors or movies, styles and tastes change so its not exactly suprising. Im not saying people all hate older movies, ive seen quite a few myself that I enjoyed. And dont just try and say I was going for a snappy comeback because I wasnt, favourite actors is always going to be more to do with what you have recently seen and on personal taste than best actors which can be judged on accolades or iconic performances. Im sure you will moan after this but I doubt i'll respond. I'll just leave it with this. Fuck you, nearly every post I have ever read from you on the subject of movies has pissed me off, having to read how you are right and other people are wrong is just annoying and im done with it. welsh_gamer
My top 5 : Harrison Ford Sean Connery Clint Eastwood Tom Hanks Keifer Sutherland Of course they are better actors out there, and I am a fan of the likes of Hoffman, DeNiro, Day Lewis etc but I find these 5 very watchable in whatever they do and they've played many intresting characters.
