Ellmeister Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Come friday I shall be driving this for the summer: Less than 100 miles done on it when I get to drive it home from university. Sweet.
MoogleViper Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 Sorry to be a spoilsport but that's an Exige not an Elise.
Nolan Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Sorry to be a spoilsport but that's an Exige not an Elise. Spoilsport :p
Oli1983uk Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 still a lotus based on the same shell and bits at the Elise
Goafer Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Random fact about the Elise (and probably Exige): Imagine a line where the windscreen meets the bonnet. The 2 sections you now have are actually glued together. It was originally an idea being tested at a university to save weight, but it worked so well that Lotus used it on the Elise. If you have a bit of a front end smash, they can just glue another front end on providing the damage isn't too bad. There is no doubt that Colin Chapman would have been proud to see that the first road car, the Lotus Elise, to be produced with a chassis held together with only glue, was produced by his company, Lotus. Will Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Will it seems you have been spotted driving about: I love that pic, makes me want to dress up and do it myself. There's also one of Darth Vader in a black Ariel Atom - even better! Practically the whole car is held together with glue, the chasis itself is, as are both the front and back ends. It's weird orange coloured stuff. You can see it along the joins inside the car.
Gizmo Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 My new wheels! Only 35k miles, PAS, ABS, 5 doors, CD Player, 2 airbags, better fuel economy than my last car. Only £1500, which I thought was pretty darn good!
Nolan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 FML, my truck now only travels in Reverse. I do sorta have another vehicle lined up, but I don't have the full amount on hand yet Luckily it's from family friends so, I maybe able to make payments on it, plus it's in good condition and fair condition bluebooks at 4400. My price won't be near that.
Goafer Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) At work last night, this was on the front cover of one of the magazines. It taunted me with its beauty. If I won the lottery I would buy one. The Lamborghini Miura: Edited July 21, 2009 by Goafer
Goafer Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Thought I'de resurrect this thread since I've been watching ye olde car adverts/promo videos. Love the old technology!

Only £1500, which I thought was pretty darn good! Where did you get that from? I'm in the market and can never find these good deals that everyone else seems to get! That's the type of car I'm after, lowish mileage, cheap to run and insure.
RoadKill Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I drive a vehicle apt for me, a white ford escort van, for tossing my victims in the back or luring them with free candy

That's the type of car I'm after, lowish mileage, cheap to run and insure. It was actually eBay that I found it. The reason it was so cheap was because it had been a class D write off - the bumper had been damaged and would have been more expensive than the value of the car to repair. The guy who we bought it from obviously had some source for fixing it on the cheap and selling it on, but meh, its completely unnoticeable.
Raining_again Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 my car 2001 1litre Toyota yaris, 42k miles. (had about 40k miles when I bought it for £2000)
Shorty Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I need a new car but I have no idea where to start. A 3 or 5 door hatchback is fine for me, preferably petrol, maybe with a bit more oomph than a 1.2/3l engine. Anyone got any reccomendations? I'm considering either a brand new car via the scrappage scheme, or something 5 or so years old.
Caris Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 1.6 Focus? You can get 3-4 year old ones for about £7k which I think is a great deal.

Domstercool Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Just got myself a new car. It's so nice Mitsubishi FTO GPX manual ^_^

The following post is a dramatisation of actual oppinions. Viewer discretion is advised. Man alive, I think I'd kill myself if I had to drive a Focus every day. Plus I just can't see 7k as a great deal for one. The numbers add up (7k for a resonably new car), but there is so much more you could get for that money.

For a lot of people a car has a purpose, and needs to be cost effective. A Focus can do 55miles to the gallon + Only going to the petrol station once every month is sweeet. :P (ie yay for new cars)
