Murr
Campaign finished tonight, only on normal. i've gone back over a few levels to pick up the level based achievements. think i'll kick my multiplayer career off now before getting through the campaign again on legendary. that last level is going to be a right bitch..... Hero-of-Time
Solo Legendary difficulty is now done! The last level was a nightmare due to the game forcing you to use tripe weapons. Its amazing how much I relied on the battle rifle/carbine sniper as its the only way to bring down elites without using a heavy weapon. Another thing I have came to appreciate is the hologram power up. That thing helped me so much through the campaign, much more than any of the stupid friendly AI. There were many points when they would just stand there and not push forward, it was really annoying.
Dyson
Hint: Never, EVER let the AI drive a Warthog. I had one yesterday that kept going round in circles and being absolutely useless. Was not impressed. And I wanted to be the gunner, too..

There were many points when they would just stand there and not push forward, it was really annoying. Same here! Though I didn't particularly like the holograms, the friendly A.I can be absolutely shit. There were some weird situations I managed to get myself into throughout the campaign. Once in the last level, I had managed to sneak past a bunch of elites, but then came across two hunters. The checkpoint went, but then I noticed the Elites had seen me and were chasing me. I had to double back on myself, run past them again, jump over a ledge without getting killed and then thankfully, comp AI started doing it's job and killed them. It's a superb game, the only real negative is the hit and miss friendly A.I. Which is a shame because you need all the help you can get on Legendary. I think the hardest levels by some distance were 6 and 10. They took me the longest at least, 2.5 hours each on Legendary. So pleased I managed to do it though, there were a couple of times I almost cracked o.O. I won't be doing that again for a long, long time. There was a few times I just pegged it aswell but most of the time it never worked out that well. Either the checkpoint wouldn't appear or it would appear at an awful time, when getting chased by enemies, just like you. I doubt I will ever play it solo on that difficulty again but I will quite happily play it in co-op though, as it's so much easier.
Daft
Say what?! Hologram is amazing. It was about ten times more useful than your stupid team mates.
Cube
I once had a checkpoint when an exploding barrel (which had started exploding) was right next to me.
Zell
Havefinally had the time to sink hours of play in to this today and it's just brilliant. Better than anticipated, which is nice. Had some really good fun games with Dan Dare and Daft earlier, and had some epic moments (speaking of which Dan, did you put that tank riding clip on file share?) Favourite moment of today was getting a Skullamanjaro, which is now on my File Share. Check eet out. I got a Skullamanjaro too! Twas very satisfying winning the game in one foul swoop. Speaking of new medals, this particular moment was probably the most fun I've had on Reach so far: Me piloting a Falcon with my mates operating the guns. Getting the last kill of the game and along with it the "Road Rage" medal - that's a Wheelman Spree of 15. None of us died. Team perfection! Dyson
Question; if you capture 10 skulls in one go and get a Skullamanjaro, do you automatically win the game? For me, I was already on 17 when I captured the 10 and thus won anyway, but I saw someone else carrying 10 at one point and it displayed a symbol above his head instead of a '10'. He then died so.. yeah. Not sure what would have happened if he'd capped them

drahkon
Today a mate and I had a four hour session of coop fun. It was Legen - wait for it - ... dairy (ha, get the pun? Difficulty, anyone?) We only managed to finish 4 missions though ... we sucked But it's been some time since I've had so much fun with a game.

Ganepark32
Went back to get that "Two Corpses in the Grave" achievement this morning and took forever. It's not hard to get but for some reason, even though I was meeting the condition to get it, it just wouldn't unlock. Think I retried it 20 time or more before it finally unlocked. Had a little flutter on Forge World as well. Really need to get my Live account upgraded to adult because its not allowing user created content so if I save and exit, I can't go back in an edit. 800 MS points down the drain just to sort that one out. But it's a nice little suit of tools. Thought there was a snap-to option for placing items as getting things to the right height is turning out to be annoying as it's never been spot on when I'm trying to place anything. Still, I'll keep plugging away. Have an idea for an Invasion map involving a first phase which sees the attacking team in Falcons trying to capture two landing pads while the opposition will have heavy weaponry, all before tackling a huge tower structure. Use that for getting items to line up exactly.
Nolan
Bought it yesterday and took about 6 hours to finish the campaign on Normal. Mind you I skipped approximately all of the fighting in Mission 10. I didn't stop to fight until the Hunters because the door was closed. FYI, you can get the mongoose past the barricade pretty easily. It was great fun, but I can't really pick out any particular moments that I'd love to go back and play again, even Halo 2 had that. I'll probably start a Legendary run later today, and in 6 hours likely not be done with the 3rd mission. I don't have Gold right now and don't plan on getting it particularly soon, but even so I've messed around with Firefight and the custom settings. Amazing what you can change. Legendary+Invulnerability+Trigger Happy covenant really shows what the engine can do in terms of pure insanity going on.
Daft
I'm one kill away from completing all of today's daily challenges. I'll save it for later. Had an awesome capture the flag match where they'd got out flag and were around two of them were round the back of our base, on a Mongoose ready to shoot off to victory. I punched them both to death before they could move. It was awesome.
Aimless
I don't have Gold right now and don't plan on getting it particularly soon... I believe online play is open to Silver members this weekend should you wish to try it out. Finished my Legendary run earlier. Certain aspects of it felt a bit cheap, if I'm honest, with several enemies displaying some rather suspect psychic powers and splash damage being unfairly lethal. Heroic is definitely the sweet spot as your character and the enemies are on more of an even keel. Anyway, I'm glad I don't work at 343 Industries¹. Reach is an obvious love-letter to the fans — even down to the names of the chapters and Achievements — but I also think it's about as far as you can push the series in its current form, toeing the line of fatigue. The next entry could really do with shaking things up a lot, but deciding on the correct direction, and then nailing it, will be no easy task. ¹If you'd like to offer me a job I'll take that back. Daft
Hemorrhage is just the most retarded map. It's fine with objectives but on God damn classic it's utter toss. Someone should needs to be shot for its inclusion.

Heroic is definitely the sweet spot as your character and the enemies are on more of an even keel. Me and my mates were on about this. It's the same on Gears 2, you'll sneak towards an enemy, line up a headshot and then they will duck or sidestep just at the right moment. There's a difference between smart A.I. and just plain cheap. I've been on matchmaking quite a bit today and have enjoyed most of it but the amount of times i've had to play sniper matches is unreal. I really hate the game type as I just enjoy running and gunning but everyone else votes for the thing, very annoying.

Daft
Yeah, had to play through 2 sniper matches. It's the antithesis of how I play. First one was on, hur hurr, Hemorrhage and was awful. The second one went really well. I reckon the base near the beach is the best team to be on for it.

Yeah, I feel the Elites especially cross this line a fair bit on Legendary. The strength of Halo's AI has always been that it's convincingly dumb, for instance running into cover behind a rock and then doubling back on yourself would allow you to sneak up on your attacker as they went to intercept your original trajectory. It's always had a great feeling of being able to bait and outwit your virtual opponents, but playing Reach on Legendary I found the Covenant to often be preternaturally aware. Hopping into any kind of turret also seems to grant them impossible levels of bullet-swerving accuracy. I enjoy sniper matches on the larger maps, although I never actively vote for them. You can chalk it up to two things: 1) my love of Hologram, and 2) the fact that I usually do pretty well. Rocket matches, on the other hand... Nolan
I believe online play is open to Silver members this weekend should you wish to try it out. Eh I played the beta so I'm not too concerned. Speaking of which, I am so glad they fixed the DMR. It was worse than the Battle Rifle in the beta (and I loathe the Battle Rifle) but they tweaked it enough that it's my favorite conventional weapon in the game. Along with the Needle Rifle due to it's 3 hit supercombine. I also loathe Sniper Matches, they're the worse. It doesn't help that I'm a horrid sniper in every game that isn't Gears of War.
