flameboy Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Alright then so whose Sony gonna get Crash Bandicoot?!
Dante Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) Alright then so whose Sony gonna get Crash Bandicoot?! I think it only for Mircosoft because of the name and the Xbox360 boxart but the Wii/PS3 boxarts has tails and the normal name. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing With Banjo-Kazooie Edited December 18, 2009 by Dante
Ashley Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Wow, long name. Also it kinda makes Sonic, Banjo and Kazooie seem like non-all stars.
Shorty Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 The tracks look a bit dull. My favourite kart racer in terms of interesting track design was Crash Team Racing, they should aim to beat that.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Demo is now up on Xbox Live. I'm on downloading it now...
Ike Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Had a quick play of the demo and it's actually quite good.
CoolFunkMan Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 It's alright, nothing special tbh. The demo needs more characters and tracks to get a real feel of what it's really like though.
Solo Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Thought it was pretty terrible myself. This man speaks the truth. It actually looks worse than Mario Kart Wii, and what's up with the framerate? It can't even do 60fps. I didn't think it was going to rip of MK that much, it gave me a migraine.
Cube Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 The demo was much more fun than Mario Kart Wii. Although that isn't really saying much.
Shorty Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Mario Kart Wii is a great multiplayer sofa game! (I always have to rate things and point out their multiplayer qualities in terms of sofa or online, they're such different experiences). I downloaded this and will get a chance to play it tonight with my g/f. Over the last week or so we've gotten back into Mario so I think it will be a good benchmark to compare fun-ness against.
SPAMBOT4000 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Demo was alright. The graphics are lovely. Track was covered with little Sonicy details. Looks like there are only Sonic, Samba, Hatcher, Jet Set, HOTD & Monkey Ball themed tracks in the full game though? No Crazy Taxi track at the very least!? Bottom line: Total frame rate fail. Constantly all over the place. Kart games should be silky smooth. No thanks.
Ryan Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Framerate will be fixed in time for release. From Steve Lycett (S0L) on the Sega boards: In no given order... Framerate - Not final. OK? Stop moaning about it :P PS3 Demo - On it's way :P PC Demo - Unlikely sadly...!
Shorty Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Just had a go. Found it reasonably good fun, nothing amazing. The main issue I had with it wasn't the framerate, but the weapons. Firstly they were too much of a ripoff of Mario Kart, pretty much everything was a parrallel of something, boxing gloves for green shells, missiles for red shells, cone mines for bananas etc., but that wasn't what sucked about the items. What sucked was they barely do any damage. There's no real impact and thus no satisfaction. I watched someone a metre in front of me drive into a mine, spin out flashing... but barely lost any speed, I didn't even overtake them from that close. You get hit by a missile and you don't even lose one position. On the other hand, fall off the track and you lose 6.

Shorty Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Blue shell is awesome! I'm always in first, it's the only challenge I get but in all seriousness, I love slamming on the brakes to make sure the person in 2nd gets hit too. At least it can mess up the balance a bit, unlike S&SASR where the weapons basically do nothing.
Emerald Emblem Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Funny thing is, Shorty's complaint isn't totally correct, Weapons do plenty of damage to your race. An example I have is dropping from 2nd to 5th after being hit by 1 weapon and they didn't pass together as a group. The default game difficulty of the demo is definately a factor here.
Shorty Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Oh I wasn't referring to weapons hitting you, but weapons you fire
Debug Mode Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Any one else pick this up today? Frame rate issues seem to be fixed on the 360, and its damn fun, not sure if it beats Mario Kart DS yet.. but every other Mario Kart has been beaten by this so far in my opinion.
Emerald Emblem Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Started a file today (360 version), played 3 hours about in total, Had a lot of time online, some lobbies even kicked me for finishing way ahead of the rest which kinda sucked.
Debug Mode Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Have yet to play online, but have you figured out how to Turbo Start yet? I've tried everything, still havent got it..
Emerald Emblem Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Have yet to play online, but have you figured out how to Turbo Start yet? I've tried everything, still havent got it.. It all depends on the character, it's all about knowing when to begin to accelerate. If you use a character and accelerate right away, you can wait and see how long the turbo boost takes to fire up. Then you put that into practice, for Example Amy needs to start accelerating on 2. Got an achievement thanks to a track glitch, somehow knocked my little brother through the vertical incline on Casino Park track 2 I think. Edited February 26, 2010 by Emerald Emblem
