They do things like this all the time and it very rarely amounts to anything.

Like the statements on 3D gaming. :bouncy:

Well I guess we're not going to settle. This discussion started as a wild guess anyway, but we'll see at the E3 how the cards end up.

No US Sales Data Until July

NPD has announced that it will not be releasing its May sales numbers for the game industry until July.

According to a statement from the firm, a “significant change” is being made to its IT architecture so it can “better serve” all of its clients and research partners.

So, as it stands at the moment, no numbers for May (or possibly June for that matter – we’ll check) until July.

Guest Captain Falcon

Good to see them bringing attention to some lesser known titles like Little King Story and Muramasa... even if they purposely went out of their way to make the latter look pretty dull.

But where, oh where, is the No More Heroes love?

I'm getting pretty damn tired of this Anti-used games bandwagon all developers seem to be jumping on.

EA, thq and now sega have started supporting this.

Things like one-time only access code to kill the second-hand market is downright greedy in my opinion.

It really only further encourages piracy.

What about in the cases of online games. People who haven't payed the company a cent cost them money when they use their servers.

"Hardcore" enough for you?... :heh:

this is exactly what nintendo should show at e3 with some newer games included. Fans would be thrilled. great video!

I'm no expert on on-line gaming but I will say that game companies have been bitching about second-hand sales since before console on-line gaming( if you pardon the dreamcast of course).

So I'm guessing this isn't the problem. It seems that while the recession is in force these companies are trying to save every penny.

I think it's quite low though. I Personally am an avid second-hand gamer, I have had problems with brand new games in the past but never with a second-hand game, during the gamecube era these were extremely cheap as well. I got metal gear solid twin snakes for something like 6 euro.

The only reason the second-hand market is so big in gaming is because the games are too expensive for most people. ESPECIALLY ds games.

I'm quite surprised this isn't discussed more, because this is going to cause war when average parent buys a sports game for their son only to find out they can't go on-line unless they pay another 10dollars.

While true, you're selling one person a service originally. The companies have a right to try and make money off their products, and they have a right to sell that service if they want to. They have no reason to want to please someone who always just waits and buys their games used. They don't make money off this person, even though this person is using their products, so they're going to try and do their best to try and make money off this person. They don't have any responsibility to allow this service to be transferable.

Miyamoto: MS and Sony motion devices are “threatening.â€

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto’s told Edge that Microsoft and Sony’s rush to motion with Natal and Move is “threatening†behaviour.

“Whenever something we have created and presented is followed by copies, we always feel it is threatening,†said the dev legend.

“More than that, we’re concerned that others are trying to do something similar for the sake of it. It’s not encouraging to Nintendo.â€

The exec was answering a question on whether or not she saw parallels between the uptake of motion controllers and the “borrowing†of analog sticks in the PlayStation generation.

Both Natal and Move will release towards the end of this year, and both will feature heavily at E3 later this month.

Nintendo will show its latest hardware, 3DS, at the LA event.

What's worrying for my Wii is that there were only maybe 3 games that appealed to me there, of which one was a remake, and one was multi-platform. They really, really need to get more European & North American developers on-side. Far, far too many JRPG's for my liking.

That video consisted of no remakes, unless I'm inexplicably mistaken.
