Adrian DX Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I got it yesterday. I think it's an awesome game, but just like RE4 I don't get that Resident Evil feeling at all. But thus far I think I like it better than Resi 4. Starting chapter 3-1 when i get home from school. Looking forward to what will happen next story-wise.

So if you like RE5, you have to like it more than RE4. :p We've had this discussion in RL thousands of times, but the difference is that I have actually finished RE4 now. And I still stand with the same conclusion. The end just took exactly what I said from the very beginning and did everything I think made RE4 less like a RE game and threw it right in my face. Or do any of you other guys remember that scene from Resident Evil 2 with the huge volcano room and the two giant trolls stomping you? Cuz I sure as hell don't
DiemetriX Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I understand that RE4 is less of a RE game. And that you didn't like it for that. But RE5 is even less a RE game. RE4 was creepy and at times. RE5 is just a great action orgy with "zombies" and monsters.

Aimless Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Killing blows on you still look savage, you just don't actually see the head come off. I'm not entirely sure why they took the decapitations out for all versions, but it hardly takes away from the game.

Chris the great Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 so far, im finding the game a little harder then resi 4. especialy the chainsaw guy, a shotgun round to the face didnt even phase him. ammo is a bit harder to come by then in resi 4 as well, though ive not actualy even run out, just always circleing the drain. i agree that the real time inventory system isn't as good as the one in resi 4, bu it makes sense co-op wise. speaking of co-op, ive not gone online yet, mostly because i want to experience it alone first. shelva is pretty decent as AI, she will pick up ammo to guns she dosent have, then give it all to me, which makes her kinda like a loyal puppy. one fault i will give her is her slow rate of fire. its like shes agonising over every single shot.

I don't see a problem, the game is still quite hard on Veteran and Capcom were silly enough to leave such a possible exploit in the game so I say it should be exploited, I discovered it when I was playing through and of course I took advantage of it, even with the extra ammo it all gets spent and you end up scrabbling around for more eventually no matter how much you have as you can only carry so much. Anyway if it really is a 'problem' I'm sure Capcom will patch it somehow, so if anyone wants to take advantage of the 'glitch' do it now I'd say, I only did it a few times as I wanted to carry on and play the game 'cos it's really enjoyable but you could potentially do it endlessly if you could be bothered... >>

Yes its basically a HD version of R Evil 4 but what makes it better IMO is that the story takes the series back to its roots. I hated that RE4 really didnt have anything to do with Umbrella/Wesker etc. Sure it had little bits here and there with assignment Ada but this is far more enjoyable to me. Everyone look forward to chapter 5-3 :wink:

Caris Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Finished it before, on my second play through. It's not as good as RE4 but it's still one of the best games this gen. Totally awesome, last boss is a fucking bitch though.
