Amazon.co.uk still has plenty of copies of 999 in stock. I think they reprinted the game in preparation for the sequel. You can play Virtue's Last Reward without having played 999, but some revelations won't have the same impact and yeah, it does spoil some of the biggest plot twists in the first game. You should definitely start at the beginning, and 999 is awesome anyway, so you've got nothing to lose.

Seriously though, what happened to the cel shading? And also, okay, sure, it's early days yet and the game isn't out until later this year and lots of things can change, but Nintendo announce a remake of one of their most beautiful games ever and this is how they choose to do it? Blue lighting, crazy contrast, bloom everywhere and plastic-looking characters? Either they have no idea what made The Wind Waker so beautiful, or Iwata only told them they were making this remake on Tuesday. I must be getting old.

Well, first I'd say that you should definitely start by playing 999 on the DS first, because it'd suck if you enjoyed this game and ended up spoiling its predecessor in the process. I haven't played Another Code (it just looks really boring and the plot seems pedestrian at best), but it's really the story that makes Virtue's Last Reward so great. I can't imagine you'd get a good grasp of what's going on in ten minutes, and it's the kind of game that gets more interesting the further you get into the story. It's definitely worth playing if you enjoy great stories. As for the difficulty level, you can play puzzle rooms on easy, at which point the other characters will outright give you the solution to some puzzles if you're stuck long enough, so the game really isn't that hard.

I don't even like having N-E people, older online friends and the people I was friends with in real life a long time ago but who I'm now only Facebook friends with because they're mutual friends with my cousin and I don't want it to be a whole thing on Facebook together. Separate but equal! Actually, not even equal. Just separate. In real life, I have no friends, so that's my recommendation. No friends, no hassle.

I mean that, at the moment, the original game running in HD looks better than the remake.

Why can't the remake just look like that instead? :p

This looks promising, but it kind of makes me sad about how much better Xenoblade could have looked if it hadn't been on the Wii. :p Also hoping it's a spiritual sequel, rather than a direct one/prequel/whatever. Cue rebuttal by Oxigen in three... two... one...

This will make stalking people a lot easier. I approve.

I watched it last summer. It wasn't bad, but I don't really get the critical acclaim. Maybe I'm just too popular to be able to relate to it!

Dude, you didn't even like Xenoblade. -
Shame on you, Dazz! Both for not knowing who Jonathan Coulton is and for not acknowledging that his version of Baby Got Back is the superior one. I suggest listening to: Code Monkey Big Bad World One Re: Your Brains Tom Cruise Crazy The Future Soon Skullcrusher Mountain And probably some others I'm forgetting. Oh, man - six TV shows! However will you cope? :p Regarding season 1 of Breaking Bad, it was cut short by the writer's strike, so that's why it's so short and also why it ends rather abruptly.

Maybe it's because of the sexuality-related discussion before your post, but my first thought was that 'in the lib' was somehow slang for 'experimenting with lesbianism'. Lib/lesbianism/labia? Hmm. I could see a girl saying, "Tracy, I was, like, totally in the lib during your party last night!"

Yup, turns out I accidentally watched the Gossip Girl finale instead. Whoops! I'll return soon with my view on the Fringe finale. Edit: Still disappointing.

How had I not heard that there's going to be a Party Down movie? Edit: Now if we could just get that Veronica Mars movie...
-
If you do, you should give the second copy to me.

No, suck it up, Eddie. You have to suffer like the rest of us.

I think it's more about perceived value. I'd pay full price for a Vita version with slightly upgraded visuals, but a handheld game ported to home consoles? Never in a million years. In the same vein, I'd pay full price for Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, but not on the PS3/360. Edit: But I guess you could say you're paying a premium to not have to shell out money for a peripheral to get proper camera controls.
