Indie World Showcase : 11 / 08 / 21 (5pm UK time)
S.C.G replied to Ronnie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Indie World Showcase to be broadcast on Wednesday 11th August at 5PM UK time Up on the main page. We'll have the full roundup article with the press release etc up on the main page shortly after the event airs tomorrow. No expectations for this, aside from (again) perhaps Panzer Dragoon Z.W.E.I. Remake being that it's due out this year... -
Just bought a copy of this for £38.24, there is an eBay code valid at the moment... 'HAVE15' Gets you 15% off with selected sellers, Boss Deals is one of the sellers, they did have around 2,500 copies of this game, there are now around half that still available. There are other games etc you could use the code on, but being that Nintendo games tend to stay at £45, saving nearly £7 on a Zelda title seems like a reasonably good deal. I wasn't going to buy it this soon, but I saw someone playing it on a stream, the first time I'd seen any non-official footage of it, it certainly looks decent in HD.

Ghost Trick wasn't originally my suggestion, I was just offering some input on the games which were suggested, it does seem like a good pick though. If we were going to be going for a shortlist of five titles, then at the moment, that would seem to be... Elite Beat Agents Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Kirby: Power Paintbrush Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks This is going from the input of everyone who has suggested a game so far, these seem to be the standout titles, but if anyone wants to add more, or go for a completely different list, no worries... and yes, I put both Zelda games down because if it turns out that either of those is picked, then it doesn't really matter which, as both have their good/bad points. Anyway, whichever game is picked, I hope that it's enjoyed, if it turns out that a game is picked that I haven't played before, then I'll potentially participate, but if it's one which I've played before, I might give it a replay, though that's less likely to happen.

Well, I can remember when it wasn't unusual to find a free gift in a box of Cheerios... maybe this is the 2021 equivelant? But yeah, not so funny when you're just about to go for a bowl of cereal. 'Ah, time for some Cheeri- oh HELL NO!' I bet the spider was grateful though, I'm surprised it survived in that box for so long, must have got in there at the factory, so it could have been in there for, four to eight weeks maybe? I'll remember this, the next time I open a box of cereal.

Being that Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is available on Nintendo DS and the IOS store, which should make it easier for others to obtain, I'll put in a nomination for it. Especially as I have the game, and it's one of the titles I genuinely did plan on playing, despite not playing many games recently. (The original DS game is admitedly not cheap for a boxed copy... £50 - £60+) Kirby Power Paintbrush is an excellent option as well though, the Wii U port is very good from what I remember, plus you can play it on the big screen. (The original DS game is also not cheap for a a boxed copy... £25 - £30+ though import versions can be cheaper)

After searching for 'Ghost Trick IOS' it turns out that it has very recently been relisted after being previously delisted, so it seems that it's legitimately available. I can't confirm this personally, but there seem to be lots of stories dating back to May 21, 2021 stating that it's back on the store, no idea how much it is though, but surely it won't be that much if it's on a mobile storefront? £5? £10?

Good shouts on the DS games which are also available on the Wii U VC, I've played most of those games, and would recommend them. Out of the DS exclusive games which have been mentioned, which is also a good list... Elite Beat Agents Soul Bubbles Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Trauma Center: Under the Knife Another Code: Two Memories Ghost Trick Hotel Dusk: Room 215 Last Window: Secret to Cape West Rhythm Paradise Okamiden Red = Decent games, probably wouldn't play Green = Played and would recommend Blue = Not played, probably own them, would play Orange = Played, wouldn't recommend, though a decent game That's just my initial reaction to those titles... reasoning would be, Elite Beat Agents, Sould Bubbles, Okamiden... just not my kind of games, Trauma Center I enjoyed at the time, but I couldn't imagine playing it again, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword I reviewed over thirteen years ago, I definitely recall it being enjoyable, Another Code: Two Memories was a great early DS title with some brilliant mechanics, Ghost Trick/HotelDusk/Last Window... I've known of them, just never played them, Rhythm Paradise needs no explanation.

Pre-Ordered the amiibo set with the My Nintendo Store as well. It looks like they've got a decent amount of stock available... hours later and you can still buy them. I'll keep the Game pre-order as well though, just in case.

Out of all the games which would seemingly be relatively easy to update for, this one stood out. At the time when it was released, it looked like a solid sequel, but it felt like it could do with more areas, or past areas and creatures from the previous game. This looks to be something like that? Some parts of the new areas remind me of the first game a bit, and who knows, maybe there will be more updates in the future? Definitely great to see Nintendo releasing some more free updates for certain games, in any case, rather than another title with a season pass. The area which features a smaller scale vehicle, with Pokémon which appear larger, is also an interesting spin on the formula.

I've posted about this a few times, but I'll just copy the post from the last time this was mentioned in the 'Questions' thread, as I managed to collate a bit of information about it, and possible suggestions on how to fix it, but it appears to be a quirk related to the site hosting, and it mostly seems to happen at around midday or midnight for an hour or less, and then after you reload the site from scratch, it functions as normal once the allotted time for the redirection (or whatever its doing) has passed. Anyway, here's the post from last time... - - - - - But yeah, it all seems to be fine now, until the next time... (I'm not criticising, just pointing out that this happens regularly, this is only an observation which I hope can be used in the interests of possible improvement, but if it can't be fixed for whatever reason, then that's just how it is for now. We're grateful for the hosting of the site, in any case)

While looking for potential Nintendo news, I found that there seems to be a one day event Pokemon Torkoal being given away... It ends some time today, maybe already expired? In case it isn't... Be sure to follow the steps below to claim Torkoal: 1. Launch Pokemon Sword/Shield 2. Select Mystery Gift on the X menu 3. Select Get a Mystery Gift 4. Select Get with Code/Password to connect to the internet 5. Enter your password (PJCS2020CHAMP) 6. Watch as the gift arrives in your game 7. Be sure to save your game

Actually, I might have heard that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be released on November 11th, 2022. Source - My friends, cousin's, brother's Uncle, who works at Nintendo. (but not for much longer)

@Mokong If your USB ports don't seem to be working on the dock, it might be worth disconnecting and reconnecting everything, though you probably have already, and if that doesn't work, try re-seating the Switch, as often I've had the USB ethernet adapter not work, or the charging cable not work, then after fiddling around with the connections, it's then fine again. It's far from ideal, but I just think the Switch dock can be very temperamental, it's worth a try, and might save you from buying another dock. The Switch can be odd when it comes to how the dock is powered on/off as well. It might be worth persevering with the old dock, then maybe get the new dock when it's released, as it does look to be of better build quality. I can't vouch for the quality/reliability of third-party docks, even though Nintendo's isn't great, I haven't heard of the official docks causing damage to the Switch at least.

It's strange, as it's something you might have thought would be possible on the Nintendo Switch eShop. It was possible on the Wii eShop... though, I know... different infrastructure, points only. Maybe it hasn't been added to the eShop because Nintendo doesn't want the liability for if/when something goes wrong with it? Too many hypotheticals, but there's clearly a demand for such a feature to be included... I know you can gift on Steam... though I'm not sure if you can on any of the main consoles.
-
According to Nintendo, there is currently no way to gift either a game or credit to someone else. The next best thing would probably be an eShop gift card, but then that would make it either more or less than the value of the game, and the cards are region-based, I believe. It might be easier to PayPal them enough money for the game, again, not quite the same but, it's a possibility. If PayPal isn't an option then... cash? And if that isn't an option then...

Thanks for the games, everyone. Kazuya seems like a fun character, with a bit of depth to the moveset, not quite as enjoyable to use as some of the other dlc characters, but I can definitely see the potential there. Tekken isn't a series that I'm amazingly familiar with either, but I can see that it has at least got some good series representation here. The arena is great, nice to see Heihachi in the background, and the breakable walls, at the start, I thought I was playing a different fighting game, as I broke down one of the walls, and then jumped off the stage, half-expecting it to move to another section of the arena. *note to self, this is Smash, not Dead or Alive. Nice to play Smash again for a bit, I'll likely be back on it again at some point, or whenever the next dlc character is released.

I could play some Smash for a little bit, probably an hour or so, see how it goes, it's usually fun trying out a new character. I'll play using the Red Trousers costume.

I'm sure it is, it's just a shame that it hasn't been ported to the Switch, I know it's from 'technically' two gens ago? But, it would sell again on Switch for sure. At least we know now. Also, at least there's still hope for Rick the Hamster!
