  2. I could play some Smash for a little bit, probably an hour or so, see how it goes, it's usually fun trying out a new character. I'll play using the Red Trousers costume.
  3. I'm sure it is, it's just a shame that it hasn't been ported to the Switch, I know it's from 'technically' two gens ago? But, it would sell again on Switch for sure. At least we know now. Also, at least there's still hope for Rick the Hamster!
  4. Mr. Sakurai presents Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Roundup All up on the main page. Full press release, and a link to that video presentation. - - - - - Kazuya seems like another solid addition to the roster, I've only played Tekken a few times, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was great for its time.
  5. Oh well, at least that's confirmation. At this point, I won't even guess at who the final character will be, but at least those latest Mii Fighters costumes confirm who it won't be. As an aside, I know existing alternate colour palette characters are set as the eight variations, but it would have been nice to see Samus in full Metroid Dread form.
  6. N-E Café Episode 71 now available! Now up on the main page. - - - - - A very enjoyable E3 2021 episode, it was fantastic hearing your thoughts on Nintendo's presentation, I won't spoil anything, but your thoughts were quite similar to mine across most of the games, Metroid Dread and Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp were highlights for me, hence the banner. (I did look for .png images but there weren't any with transparent backgrounds, though I think the banner turned out alright) I won't guess the tune this week, partly because I'm not sure, but also because I just happen to be around when the podcast is uploaded, that usually means I'm first to guess it and it'd be good for someone else to either guess, or have more of a chance to guess at least. (the tracks do seem somewhat familiar though, perhaps) Thanks again, and it would be great if there's another episode in a couple of weeks, but I know it all depends on if it can be fitted in, and indeed, if there's been enough news, E3 week is usually good for news, then there can be a lull afterwards, but knowing Nintendo, there could be a random direct or announcement any time within the next week or two... In any case, until next time.
  7. If your ultimate goal is getting rid of stuff, there are plenty of ways to do that, but as Dean has already stated, it's a trade-off... betweeen time invested and the potential monetary worth. I'd say that time is more important, but equally, if you have something which has value to someone, then it's worth spending a bit of time doing a bit of research, because the extra potential bit of cash from doing so, will probably come in useful. I've been going through my own collection, due to becoming less invested in games. If you need an idea of pricing for a few consoles and some games, I can do that, and it won't cost you anything, except the time taken to either list what you have, and/or take a few pictures of the items if necessary. There may well be some interest on the forum, depending on what consoles and games you are planning on selling. As a general idea, if you're selling anything retro, and it's all in good working order, you can generally expect to get a decent amount of money back for it. Options for selling stuff are out there, such as the sites which Dean has mentioned, though I personally cannot vouch for them, and the same goes for gaming groups within various platforms, you might have success there, but eBay tends to be a more known quantity. If you wait for the right time, usually every couple of weeks for personal accounts, they will offer you so much off the final valuation fees, which typically is around ten percent now, plus an extra percent or two since the whole managed payments started happening on there, and an additional thirty pence per item. Say for instance, if you sell a console for £100 (plus postage) you'll likely see around £85 of that. When the offers are on though, the best one currently is 'up to 80% off fees' which means you'd only be paying two percent, which would only amount to £2 taken from every hundred. It is limited though, but when the offer is on (which varies between eBay users) you can list up to one hundred items, and it will give you from midnight on Friday until midnight on Monday to list everything, I believe. There's always places like CEX... taking an unboxed N64 console as an example, they will pay you £35 cash or £50 voucher for a console, they will then sell it for £75 or so, the typical selling price for an N64 on eBay at the moment, seems to be around £70, so for something like that, it would depend on whether or not there's other stuff you wanted from CEX. If not, then it still seems logical to put it on eBay with or without the offer, as you'll still get back more for it. Places like CEX seem to be useful for getting rid of games which aren't of great value, where the price difference between them and online sites is minimal, but if you did want to get rid of a load of stuff, they are an option, just be aware that when trading in consoles, even if they are boxed, they will try anything within their 'grading system' to pay you the lesser price for your stuff, and then sell it on at a higher grade price, because of course they will, it's CEX. I understand the need for space, and less need to keep stuff, even though I've spent a lot of time buying games here and there over the years, I've realised there's plenty I can part with. A lot of it, I either don't play, or know that I won't, whereas with other games and consoles, I do have something telling me that there is a good chance that I'll want to play that particular game or console soon, so in that instance, I keep what I believe I will use. Now is a good time (in the year) to do it as well, we're approaching the longest day, Summer is here, it's a good time for change and moving forward in general, whatever that means for everyone, on an individual basis. Of course it's still good to have hobbies though, so I'd advise still keeping those games which really mean something to you, or ones which you might play when you just want to 'escape' or remember simpler times. But generally, a lot of stuff can weigh you down, and if you find that none of it is serving you, it might be best to pass it on or sell it to someone else who has a need or want for it. This information should be of use, but if there are any other questions, let me know. I do get that need to be less about 'stuff' though, even though if I do buy a game, I'll still buy physical over digital, unless the digital game is a lot cheaper, but being that this doesn't happen as much now, it's less of an issue. I've been collecting games for most of my life-time, it's not something I want to continue doing any more, I really only want to keep a small selection of games which I have a strong feeling that I'll play, as otherwise, it's all just taking up space which could potentially be better utilised, and I know... you can say the same about anything physical, but it's the mental space that it takes up as well, that's why for me, it's always under constant evaluation, so that I can do what's best for myself and those around me. I could get by with a GameCube, an N64 and a Switch at this point. (plus a 3DS and a Wii for their digital games and physical game back-catalogue) But I keep more than that, old Sega and Nintendo consoles, plus the odd Xbox or Playstation 'just because' but I rarely have any real desire to play them. This is an interesting topic, let's see if we can all benefit from it somehow, be it just exchanging advice on selling a few gaming items, or taking a step back to re-evaluate how much some of these things mean to us, or don't any more, on an ever-changing basis.
  8. I believe this has something to do with how the main site is hosted, as this seems to happen daily on the site, all of the text appears but not the images, and then every link seems to send the user to 'ftp.n-europe.com' instead of 'n-europe.com' or something to that effect, if this happens, it's best to reload the main page in a new tab, (there's no point in refreshing once you've clicked on an 'ftp' link as it just remains stuck) or try again in half an hour or so, as it only seems to happen at around eleven - midday or eleven - midnight. It's far from ideal, but it's down to how the site is hosted, I believe. We're grateful for the hosting of course, and this may be something which could be fixed with some kind of redirect, as I was talking with someone about it, who had suggested this when they spotted the error themselves, as they happen to work in that department, but it's not something that I'd be able to fix. I'll mention @Shorty though I'm sure he's either aware of the issue, as I think it has been mentioned before, and it may just be a limitation/quirk due to how the site is hosted. In fact, I've just checked... and currently while most of the site is working fine, the error seems to be occuring on the Games page at the moment (though it does happen on the main page quite a lot) say, if I was to click on the Beautiful Desolation review from that page, instead of going to https://www.n-europe.com/reviews/beautiful-desolation it's currently redirecting to... So instead of the usual review url where n-europe.com would be the usual prefix, instead it appears to be another server address... Again though, in the time it has taken to check out the issue, and write about it in this post, the site has gone back to normal again now. - - - - - The whole site is down at the moment. 02:18 25/06/2021 'Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL'
  9. Alright then, seeing as I already have an account with them, I've put in a pre-order with Game, just in case. I just checked, and one of the last times that I ordered from Game, was when Samus Returns was released, nearly four years ago... I'm glad that Metroid Dread turned out this way, with Mercury Steam co-developing the game, having previously proven just how well they know and love the series with Metroid: Samus Returns, I really don't see how Metroid 5 could end up being anything less than the follow-up to Metroid Fusion which many have waited so long for.
  10. True, the redesign of the My Nintendo Store is not exactly brilliant, when ordering Metroid Dread Special Edition, the site claimed that you can use PayPal, then the only option available was Credit Card... the address form is broken, as you have to put in your address and then it will find the closest match which you have to accept as there's no way to change it, despite the option to 'edit' the address being present. As for the amiibo section, it's a mess... there are 42 results, which presumably means that there are only listings for figures or cards which they are currently producing, and if you wanted to search for 'newly added' figures, you can't, as there isn't a filter for that, though the new figures are labeled as such at least. My advice, for anyone who is planning on ordering from this site, is to have the amiibo section open, but also have another tab/browser open with a search for 'Metroid' as there are currently only three results, but that should change as soon as the figures are added, also, it'd be best to be already signed-in as well of course. ShopTo might have been an option, but I haven't ordered from that site since they last redesigned their site, so I tend not to bother with them. Anyway, regardless of whatever happens with these amiibo figures, I'm sure the game will be fantastic. If it does turn out that not enough people can get hold of the figures who want them though, I think it would be a good move for Nintendo to make the bonuses which are attached to these two figures, work with some of the other Metroid themed figures, especially the Metroid: Samus Returns amiibo, seeing as they unlock basically the same thing, but in a different game.
  11. The amiibo will likely be up on the My Nintendo Store within the next few days, it should be easy enough to pre-order from there, I'd have thought. I saw that the figures were up for pre-order on Amazon but didn't bother, as I try not to support that company, whenever possible. Nice to see that other places have the collector's edition up for sale now though, as that has sold on on the My Nintendo Store.
  12. Nintendo Direct E3 2021 Roundup Now up on the main page. Full press release, and a link to the video. (It was on the main page within a few hours, but I was catching up with the Metroid Dread coverage, the game looks fantastic) - - - - -
  13. Well... I've got a Switch game to look forward to afterall. (aside from Metroid Prime 4) Also, I was out of the amiibo game as I sold most of them but I kept Mario, Sonic, two Link's and all of the Metroid amiibo's. I guess I'll be purchasing just these two figures, and THEN I'll be out of the amiibo game. (again) Same for games in general, I'll be buying this, and Metroid Prime 4 when it comes out, but not a lot else. Anyway... Metroid Dread exists! E3 is 'saved' for now at least.
  14. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2022 Now up on the main page. Full press release/fact sheet and video link. - - - - -
  15. If anyone actually wants to buy Demon Throttle the Switch game which is physical only, you can get it on Special Reserve Games website, but there is a queue system in place to even get on the website, current estimated wait time is approximately 1-2 hours. (variable) although, it's currently displaying 39 minutes. Going by previous releases from this retailer, the price will probably be around £30... which for what looks like, what would normally be a relatively small digital game... is potentially a bit excessive, though I'm in the queue now, so I'll let you know what the actual price is in around half an hour, in case anyone is interested. I'm not sure if I'll actually be buying it, I just clicked on the link as I've bought games from Special Reserve Games before, though I'm not as into physical Switch games, or games in general as I once was... also, forget what I said about the wait time, the website just loaded, and sure enough, it's around £30. - - - - - As for the show... it's a standard Devolver Digital press conference... whatever qualifies as 'standard' for them anyway, it played exactly to expectations... ...though so did the Ubisoft conference, unsurprisingly. (Mario + Rabbids sequel... fantastic news for fans of the original, but other than that?) Next up, Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, tomorrow at 6pm (UK time) Get ready for Gears, Halo, Forza, Skyrim 4K, Perfect Dark, and maybe one or two interesting announcements?
  16. N-E Café Episode 70 now available! Now up on the main page. - - - - - Welcome back to the N-E Café Podcast, it's great to have another episode up on the site, and an E3-themed episode at that. Excellent timing, and I very much enjoyed hearing about all of your predictions for the event, plus catching up with all the games you've been playing. Only a week to go until Nintendo's E3 Direct, it'll be nice to hear what you all thought about it, so I'll look forward to your reactions in the next episode. An E3 related banner, featuring the latest E3 logo, plus a couple of titles we're likely to see (or not), also, bonus point for anyone who can guess which game logo that I took the 'HYPE' text from... It's quite a well-known title, but it felt right to put something hype-related in an E3 banner, as it just goes with it. As for the transition tune, I'm not really sure but I'll have a guess... Thanks for an excellent episode, and N-Europe is grateful for any future episodes that you can produce going forward, as I understand that it takes a lot of time and energy in order to create each show. It's a really decent podcast though, with solid production values, and some good group discussion. Roll on E3 for next week... as while I'm not generally as enthused for Nintendo and videogames as I used to be, even I can't say that I'm not at least a little bit hyped after listening to a whole podcast about it. (an appearance from Samus Aran is bound to happen, be it a cameo, new trailer for Metroid Prime 4, a spin-off, port or Metroid Dread revival/Metroid Prime Trilogy HD)
  17. My copy arrived... Dust cover get! (I might give the book a read later)
  18. Super Mario 3D World so that Toad can run at 200cc+ equivalent speed.
  19. Nintendo Direct E3 2021 to be broadcast on 15/06/2021 Up on the main page. The full roundup article with the press release etc will probably be up on the main page shortly after the event airs in just under two week's time. Personal expectations? Metroid Dread. Realistic expectations? New amiibo, (which I won't buy... unless Metroid) New Switch console, (hardly any need to upgrade) and 1-2-3 Switch! (...)
  20. If Sega can't fix Sonic 3 & Knuckles, for a compilation, released to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary, then they'll never bother to fix it. Sonic 3 & Knuckles just isn't the same game without the iconic music for Ice Cap zone and other stages. One of the last great ports of the game I played, was the Wii Virtual Console version, even that wasn't one hundred percent perfect, as it had very slight sound differences in a small number of instances due to the emulation, but even that had the lock-on functionality and all of the original music intact. It's no longer available too, well... via official means at least. I'm glad that I still have it on my original launch day Wii. To have the collection, of all the original Mega Drive games and Sonic CD as a compilation, with all of the correct music and full widescreen support, would be a most excellent addition to current and modern platforms, as it would ensure the accessibility of the games for a good while longer. - - - - - Look what I found from the N-E archives... (well... the text at least, but I still have the images and banners saved, so I've re-added them back in for this forum post retro review revival)
  21. I'd usually say that it's worth gettiing a physical copy, but in this instance... it's probably better to go digital, just to not have those boxarts. Also, I think the Nintendo Store UK (or general) pre-order bonus will be an A3 poster featuring the boxart, dual-sided of course with the other version on the reverse, no escape!
  22. it certainly seems that way... but there's still time for everything to change... ...it's coming up for E3 afterall, we might still get that Twin Snakes remake yet. Or maybe not, and it's all for nothing... and Konami really did just get David Hayter to voice a character cameo in a free-to-play Bomberman game, and that's it. Snake? SNAKE?!? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
  23. Translated text from the article... (In case people don't want to click on the news site and deal with all the vast amount of tracking cookie exceptions) In summary... possible higher resolution, better display, DLSS... Switch Pro then?
  24. Release dates for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Now up on the main page. Seeing as The Pokémon Company put out all of the release dates of their Pokémon games at once... ...it only seemed right to roll them into one article, with zero fanfare and a banner which showcases it all. Enjoy? - - - - -
