What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
sumo73 replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm listening to Plan B at the moment. -
As one of the much older members here I've realised long ago that I won't grow up completely. For example, I was disappointed that I wasn't able to download the Streetpass theme and special Mii during Streetpass week recently. The big problem with getting older is that we will compare ourselves especially with others of our age and then think that we are still child like or not enjoying life to it's fullest because we don't have this or that or still play video games over 30 or in my case older. Being married or in a long term relationship, having children... does not by default make you a better person. There are plenty of failed or destructive marriages/relationships out there and plenty of parents who can't even look after themselves let alone raise children properly. I'm sorry to say this. As long as we don't hurt other people or ourselves in the process then I don't see anything wrong with trying to enjoy life while we can in whatever way we can and that includes playing video games. However, the most important thing to remember is that our time on this planet is limited and that we have a responsibility (regardless of whether you are a parent or not) to the next generation of people out there.

While it's great that there's new stuff on Streetpass/Spotpass (I don't live in London anymore so less hits) this is what I still dislike - No Map for -Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Denmark (Kingdom of), Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden (there are others but I've not met them yet) Nintendo stop ignoring these countries and add some maps ASAP!

Despite what I've already said on the matter I don't hate amiibo's and will probably buy 'a few' in the future. Nintendo have in my view stumbled, (thanks in part to Activision/Disney) onto an idea which will help generate some interest in their games and with collecting these figures and for the company themselves to make money. Also perhaps shift a few more 3DS and Wii U's along the way. What I dislike about amiibo's are the varying cost price (I'm not even talking about the rare ones) and the availability (or lack) of them perhaps forcing people to seek them out at an inflated price via resellers. Also I don't want to see people feeling cut out from others or pressurised into buying more of them. I truly hope Nintendo sorts things out soon.

I completely get your earlier point about this but the day when I'm stuck in front of some streaming only Nintendo box surrounded by plastic toys is the day I stop gaming. Also I agree with you that Nintendo should avoid alienating gamers by giving them other ways to unlock content and that they need to have more stock. I just had a look at the official online Nintendo store here in the UK regarding amiibo's and it looks a bit embarrassing with over 60% being currently out of stock.
-
If you cut the figure off from the amiibo just leaving the plastic circle NFC thingy behind then I guess they would be easier to stack. 20 amiibo's at 15 euros each is about the same price as a new Wii U (32gb model), something's wrong here.
-
Firstly, I really hope this doesn't become industry standard. Can you image buying a game and then the extra DLC and then some amiibo type figures in order to unlock stuff that's already on the disc to begin with? Careful now, you'll give Capcom and even Rovio ideas. How big is your wallet and do you have enough space for them where you live? And the final question which I'm sure some will forget....do we really need them?
-
amiibo's feel a bit like a diversion from the video games themselves. I wonder when Nintendo will stop going on about the next amiibo set they are going to release and talk about the actual games in the future. Give us a real Animal Crossing game and not a amiibo card + animal crossing designer thing. I'm sure in a few years time someone on YouTube will proudly show off their complete amiibo set all boxed up and never been used. Probably costing several hundred pounds/euros/dollars upwards and good luck to them but I won't be doing that. Since this company really can't sort out supply it means that money will go onto the private sellers pockets something which I don't think Nintendo really cares about. Personally, Nintendo got lucky with amiibo's but I seriously doubt they would have thought of the idea if Skylanders hadn't been so successful. Lastly, will sales of amiibo's actually translate into sales of consoles to play them on? Or are amiibo's just being bought by existing Nintendo customers?

I did watch most of the UK debate last night but will make my final decision on who to vote for by reading a general view of each parties manifesto first and choosing the best one. In a long time, for me I don't see enough difference in some political parties so I need to see their manifesto's first. Since Wales and Scotland were represented in some way last night how comes Northern Ireland was left out? I know there is a debate on 28 April on UTV but seriously someone should have said someone yesterday.

Nope the Japanese here just reads 'fox' and nothing else.

I remember once someone asking me what I did on Sunday and I just told them 'I went to church' and then I got from them 'Oh I don't believe in all that.....blah blah......' Hey I told you what I did because you asked me. I don't need to know what you believe in because I wasn't asking. Despite replying here, for me religion or beliefs are personal and largely private. It can be an emotive subject and think it's difficult to discuss something here without others of stronger views drowning out everyone else. I believe in god (at least I think I do) but I don't feel the need to go to church every Sunday. I go when I want to and no one is forcing me nor am I forcing anyone to join me. In the past I had a few opportunities both in the UK and Japan to teach English but talk about the bible/god at the same time and I turned them down because it's not me. I do fear however we are moving into a culture where if you say that you are religious (of any faith) then you are deemed a nutter or worse by default. I respect other faiths and have no problem if someone isn't religious at all however I do dislike very strong minded atheists or anyone who is overtly religious who thinks you are not as good as them because you do or don't do this or that. On a side point, I wonder what people think of religion being used a little in video games? Ultimately, we are all here on Earth trying to survive on this roller-coaster called life, some follow or turn to religion and some don't, fair enough.

I've just bought a Japanese GameCube recently. I've used freeloader for a long time but it can't do everything. Shame this cube is a newer model so no component output but then again it's almost impossible to get a component cable for the cube at a decent price.

Not overly impressed with this news from Nintendo (Why did I have to read this on St Patrick's Day?) but then again Nintendo didn't give much away so I can't really comment here. Not a fan of micro transactions or mobile phone gaming but until I see it, again I can't comment. The bottom line is it doesn't matter what Nintendo say, they really can't advertise anything properly. Having a good product is nothing if no one knows about it or what it can do.

Ní leor teanga amháin....Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

It's nice to see a lot of talk about this game years after it was released on the Gamecube and then later on for the Wii but I don't think there's enough new stuff here for me to go and get this version. I have this game already on PS (original and director's cut), Gamecube, Wii and DS versions and have played all of them to death so I'll buy the Evil Within instead. I'm disappointed that this HD version still hasn't fixed Kenneth's skin tone and Trevor's note still states 31 November. These are little things but they should have fixed them. I would have loved to have seem some kind of Battle Mode added to this game as they did for the Saturn version. My guess which others have already mentioned is that Resident Evil 0 will be given the same treatment and make it's way over to other consoles, downloadable only but with a limited disc release in Japan only. I wonder if Killer 7, Viewtiful Joe or even Zack & Wiki will make their way over to current consoles as well. I'm pretty sure that Capcom have no plans to upscale P.N.03 anytime soon or breathe life into Dead Phoenix however. It's a shame that there is no Wii U version of Res Evil remake HD game (luckily you can play the Wii version) but the biggest kick in the teeth is Capcom not releasing Resident Evil Revelations 2 on any Nintendo platform in the near future.

EA Access a Success, Should others follow?
sumo73 replied to Murr's topic in General Gaming Discussion
This isn't really about giving the gamer a better service more likely a way for companies to make more money and get a quicker return on their investment. -
The last game I finished was a few days ago and that was Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS. I had bought it earlier in the year but stopped playing it when I got my wisdom teeth removed. I decided to come back to this game recently but played it from the very start and I enjoyed it. It felt like more of a return to form for the RE series which has had a bit of an identity crisis as of late. As I don't at the moment have a Wii U I've ordered the PS3 version of the game to see how that plays out on the big screen.

The 'Suomi' you read actually says 'Chibi robo!' in Japanese although the Hiragana font used is non standard here.
-
My guess is they won't because it's easier to remove/block functions than to amend them to newer technology/newer servers in the future. If you look at N64 games which had the rumble feature in them for example then that feature was removed on the Virtual Console even though the Wii remote has rumble.

Yeah 2300 hours JST is 3 pm UK time and I've got a few 20110 error codes already. :-( However Goldeneye 007 seems to be still working...(no idea for how long) I still think the actual time of switching off sucks especially for everyone in North America where it was still morning. I guess Glu mobile won't be on my Xmas card list this year.
-
Interesting, I remember last year when WiiConnect 24 went down, Nintendo stated that the servers were closing on 28th June but I was able carry on using the service until 1 am the following day. Personally, I think Nintendo/GameSpy/Glu Mobile should switch everything off at midnight local time so that people can at least play this evening. Shame to this service is going soon, ah the memories!

I've never seen myself to be an online gamer at all really and I still don't have broadband where I'm living but recently I've tried to play some Wii and DS games online some even for the very first time and also making sure that any DLC that I can has been downloaded. I hope that as gaming continues to change the single player and multiplayer offline modes will still be there and not diluted further. The GameSpy server shut down is going to affect a lot people and not just DS/Wii users.

#06 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Resident Evil 4)
sumo73 replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I've played all the RE series on console and handheld so far across many systems but to me the game which sticks into my mind is the Gamecube remake of Resident Evil. Resident Evil 4 did what it set out to do, it changed the system of game play and most importantly won back old fans of the series who had lost interest in Resident Evil and also it won new fans to the franchise. It's a great game and I bought it three times on other systems but it's not my favourite of the series.
