Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 (Wednesday 2nd April 2025 @ 14:00 BST)
sumo73 replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I saw the video and now the flood of YouTube videos and rumours about the Switch 2 will go into overdrive. I'm sure someone is going to complain that it's called the Nintendo Switch 2 and then make some comparison with the Wii U that people got confused with the name or something. This trailer at the end does make things clearer. On a side note has it really been 20 years since I first saw this - -
Biden's done good you say but yet fails to show the impact of his administration to the people over the last four years. The old Reagan question of "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" rings true. Any leader which fails to show the positive impact of their leadership will be voted out in time. I agree with The Guardian article when it says, "This government is against the clock." This new(ish) government may have a 10 year plan of how to change the country but in four years or so time people will ask, are you better off (now) than you were four years ago? You can repeat the phrases we were elected with a mandate of change...fixing the foundations....restoring public trust in the government....fixing the mistakes (black hole) that the previous government made... but it's all word salad until people see positive change. As for Reform, I would say to the people of 'Clacton' in four or so years time, are you better off now than you were four years ago in 2024? Farage talks a lot, but people in Clacton and elsewhere need to see change.

You made good points. However, when any celebrity endorses a certain side they can often alienate others who don't think politically like them. I'm not saying celebrities can't have an opinion but I'm more for them encouraging others the value of voting, that every vote counts and for people themselves to way up the pros and cons of who to vote for themselves. What happens in the USA will often be copied elsewhere, so it's too late to put the celebrity genie back in it's bottle for politics because it's here to stay.
-
In reply to some of the above, should we really be persuaded/influenced by celebrity endorsements of political figures left or right. I find the whole thing a bit cringe. Lastly it was Eleanor Roosevelt who said - 'Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people'. Plenty of things to attack both Harris and Trump on with regards to 'policy' but to reduce it down to how someone laughs (Harris) or drinks water (Trump) is in poor taste.

What an alarming price! At that price it's just not for me, maybe a price drop or see it on e-bay at some point in the future. Still could see this selling well for Xmas. The real question is, can it play Doom?

Interesting time period since now it's the Japanese which have expansion plans and not the Mongols from the first game. It's a video game first but I would be interested to see how the 'Ainu' people are depicted in the game. If anyone is interested in this time period onwards (I realise this video is not for everyone) -

Personally, I think the whole thing will be closer but it's difficult in this media fuelled world, where we often end up in echo chambers, to say who will win yet.

It looks like Ubisoft Quebec did a bit more research into things and consulted with Ubisoft Japan and more historians than I had originally thought. That's good however there are still areas that need to be fixed before the game releases. Even if the game was pushed back to early 2025, it would be for the better personally. Not overly impressed with things at the moment concerning the new government over a wide range of issues. I really feel that they need to read the room and repair public trust in them. The previous government messed things up for sure but they are not in charge now.
-
I was working early this morning and managed to block all the news about the election until later on which is becoming harder in this digital age. I've lived through so many bread and circuses and changes of government that I've become cynical about this whole thing which I hate about myself. Didn't vote for this government but I wish them all the best especially since Reform will be a constant thorn in their side. The good thing about voting is that you have the chance to vote out a government that isn't working, shame I can't vote out some sections of the media. Never voted for them.
-
For my own sanity, I am glad that I don't have a TV anymore, so I don't get sucked into this mess too much. I will vote of course but who to? - the leader of the blue party (bank manager), the leader of the red party (buliding society manager), the leader of the yellow party (church warden) or the leader of the not purple (cyan) party (that bloke down the pub). Being apathetic isn't great but it would be nice for politicians to do their actual job and people might care a bit more.

Resident Evil may be getting remade again...
sumo73 replied to CrowingJoe79's topic in General Gaming Discussion
In time anything is possible. Capcom is the issue here however; perfectly able to remake Resident Evil 2 only to drop the ball with the remake of Resident Evil 3. Not sure when we will get to see the remake of Resident Evil Survivor though. Lastly regarding the original Resident Evil game yes I am sure it can be remade again especially when you know that the original idea was to make it first person - What Resident Evil Could Have Been | Shacknews -
Resident Evil may be getting remade again...

So the link given is linked from dsogaming is to a reddit post (Daniel's post is behind Patreon that you have to join to unlock) which is then linked an 'X' post in Arabic, which via google translate becomes...."Another but uncertain piece of news is that Resident Evil 1 Remake will be released in 2026". Thanks for that I guess. -
Saw the last episode which did feel like a mid season episode but it was fine enough although the first five minutes felt a bit out of place with the rest of the programme.
-
I watched it and while I should be happy that Russell T. Davis, David Tennant and Catherine Tate are back, the episode I watched felt average. As for the recent Children in Need mini episode, I thought this one was better for Comic Relief was better -

I had one of these back in the mid 80s so definitely not from 1992. The strap was plastic and I think it broke after some use over time. Sadly I don't have it now.

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
sumo73 replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm not sure the issue is as commonplace with Wii U's as people see online but it's worrying nevertheless. The biggest worry for me is the lack of any concern about this from Nintendo. So far they have said nothing about the issue. I bought myself a Raspberry Pi Pico last week just in case something happens to my Wii U's in the future. -
3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
sumo73 replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I read recently that a few reports have come out about some people switching on their Wii U's after some extended time only to find the NAND inside has failed or has become corrupted. This could be due to the time left alone or I believe certain chips used in the console. -
It's the point that the BBC is back in the news again which I talked about earlier. For some people, it will move away from Gary Linker and what he said and move into x person is paid too much and we should defund the BBC...
-
This is a non story to me. I remember years ago (2008), the press went on and on about Jonathan Ross who went to a Russell Brand show on the BBC and said some silly things. The whole thing was blown up by the press. When the BBC is in the news, I lose interest in the story. It's bread and circuses. I don't have a TV license and I don't watch TV. If Gary Lineker wants to say something on his own twitter account then that's up to him. If he says something political on MOTD then that is a completely different angle. PS - Ashley, enjoy Japan!

In Charlie Brooker's 'How videogames changed the world', he says Twitter is the number 1 game 'Twitter is a massively multiplayer online game in which you choose an interesting avatar and then roll player persona loosely based on your own. Attempting to accrue followers by repeatedly pressing lettered buttons to form interesting sentences'. I'm not a big fan of social media in general and there have been multiple studies showing the link between increased social media usage and depression, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Seeking validation from others in that way seems false. As much as some journalists want to see Elon and Twitter self explode it won't, and after a few months I think things will get back to some level of stability. Twitter is a business and it needs to turn a profit and people need their dopamine hit.
