  1. A few HBC channels, bits of the installation proceess etc have changed during the 3.x - 4.2 transition... check wiibrew.org / hackmii.com to see if you can safely just update to 4.2 and reinstall HBC from scratch? On another note... Woohoo, reinstalling DVDx through Homebrew Installer made DVD playback smooth for me too, thanks Rowan!
  2. I can relate, i felt the same way when cheese & onion crisps became vegetarian, despite people all around me going "WTF have Walkers done to the flavour?!" I'm not condoning the use of MSG, i agree that it's bad mmmkay and allegedly causes cellular mutations & all sorts. Here's my rant: Hula Hoops got rid of artificial stuff & managed to keep a great flavour, so why did Nik Naks get rid of it, claim "SAME GREAT TASTE!" on the pack, but it's now completely bland?!
  3. What's with the new "No artificial flavours or MSG" campaign? Says "same great taste" on the pack, but my tastebuds beg to differ.... anyone else tried?
  4. Since it was re-released a couple of years back, it should be quite a bit easier/cheaper to find. Also loved Minish Cap but never finished it, was such a great game but the multiple final bosses without saving in-between killed it for me.

Had my first real OCD session with it on the weekend, spent just over 2 hours on 1 stage. Still only managed 97% painted & couldn't find the last challenge and a couple of collectibles, but what a great feeling - being familiar with every section of the level. Haven't felt that way since I played Thief / Thief 2.
  6. Or the idiot who decided God had instructed him to invade & obliterate Iraq because Gog & Magog were hiding there. http://wvgazette.com/Opinion/JamesAHaught/200907220060
  7. Dreamcast Junkyard's done a top 100, this is more like it http://the-dreamcast-junkyard.blogspot.com/2009/09/dreamcast-top-100-as-voted-by-you.html
  8. World's Most Interesting Bomb. Classic.
  9. Rez, Ikaruga, Super Magnetic Neo, so many they had to leave out. Dreamcast deserves a top 50!
  10. It'll be great for casual games & sports/fitness titles, provided the players have a big enough living room. So long as it doesn't try take over from all genres & controllers, because that's when it'll fail. People don't want to thrust their gun forward to walk, it's unnatural. And moving your head to look around sounds nice on paper, but not when you're still trying to look at the screen in front of you. And i get a feeling that, given the choice of holding a plastic steering wheel in your hand, or gripping the air, majority would choose to hold the wheel.
  11. Not a pic of me as such, but... BY GRABTHAR'S HAMMER WHAT A BARGAIN.
  12. Me too, esp since i gotta manually change my TV between progressive & non-progressive, so games that don't support it stand out like a sore thumb.
  13. Ooh i wonder if that's the problem on mine, why DVD playback's so choppy & out of sync, when it does actually work?! I should try reinstalling DVDx.
  14. 100% nailed, it's still outputting 640x480 (or 576 for PAL) even in "widescreen", rather than 720x480 or whatever you'd expect widescreen res to be. Technical description: The good ol' Hollywood graphics chip was made to be so reliably compatible with 'cube games, that even in a slightly higher resolution (proper widescreen), it doesn't have the framebuffer for it. Hence all Wii games running in 640x480, whether in 4:3 or stretched to 16:9. Yup, setting the TV to 4:3 makes emulators look correct, and makes the image generally sharper. The only other option would be for them to actually make the emulator run with borders on the sides of the screen, but it's probably better this way. Uses all the pixels, so more detail.
  15. Ok tapedeck, PLEASE tell me your secret! For me it takes absolute AGES to start playing, and in the event it actually does find the menu/film and start, it's hideously jerky and usually goes out of sync.
  16. DVD playback is still very sucky, would be so good to have a decent DVD player on Wii.
  17. The machine that goes *PING*
  18. Updated to 4.1 yesterday, homebrew channel still intact & SD card support seems faster now (I'd not done an official update since 3.2!)
  19. Most true words spoken on this thread - agree with everything you said
  20. Yes! I've used it to play region free games & works fine.
  21. Not just the updated Nintendo Channel - in Japan, you can also get fast food delivery channel, "family in the lounge" channel (still haven't worked out what this one actually does); think there's also a film renting channel (where you pay for, then stream a dvd quality movie for up to 48 hours). 4.1 seems to be a bugfix for the "how to use motionplus" video - should only force you to watch the whole thing the first time you start up your first ever motionplus game, not EVERY time.
  22. So is anyone else here playing anything other than JRPG's on their PS2?
  23. Conversation between me (playing) & housemate (watching): "What's that you're playing?" "Madworld. Really fun, beating the crap out of people" "Why's it in black & white?" "It's the style they went for." "But couldn't they do it in colour?" "Apparently they tried some colour but decided on a comic book black & white style with red blood." "Yea but you get colour comics...?" "They decided not to." [pause while he watches a bit] "Does it go into colour later on?" "No." [another pause while he watches some more] "Couldn't they have put a bit of colour in?" "They obviously decided not to." [walks out the room]

I know what you mean, the way it sticks to walls sometimes & can't get up to where you want to go other times? But it feels like it was made that way, rather than buggy controls. Just need to get used to how jumping, sticking etc works in different situations...
  25. Finally got me a copy & started playing yesterday, it's so much more fun than i expected from watching the videos Reminds me of arcade games like Final Fight / Crime Fighters. Also by the end of each stage i realise i have a huge grin on my face - between the OTT atmosphere & the sarcastic commentators you can't help enjoying it!
