Fair enough. With Hades there's also lore that you're rewarded with, though. And it's pretty great. Probably not enough to pull you in if the general gist of rogue-lites puts you off.

COVID-19 (The artist formally known as Coronavirus)
drahkon replied to bob's topic in General Chit Chat
New infections are going down here in Germany, but they're still quite high (10k per day on average). There's already talks of planning to ease the lockdown. Watch our government make the same mistake again... -
Finished Borderlands 3 with a new character again. This time I rushed through the story and power leveled the character in order to catch up with two mates. There's been quite a few additions/revamps since I last played the game. Pretty much higher difficulties with modifiers and better loot. A lot of fun. Still the best "loot-shooter" out there. Now that my mates also got the first season pass we're going to play through all DLC from that. Already looked up a build I wanna pursue. Gonna be lots of fun getting the gear, playing through the DLCs (which are supposed to be quite good) and just having a great time with my friends

PS5 matched the PS4 record. Very impressive numbers, especially considering the pandemic. Again: Props to Microsoft and Sony for releasing their next gen consoles during these times.

Triple posting in case you wanna see some screenshots from the very first scene with the new patch: Still holds up almost 3 years later

Just read that Give Me God Of War on NG+ will be riddled with one-shot-kills unless you're equipped with NG+ armor...ah well, I've finished the game once on that difficulty, think I'll just start NG+ on the second highest By the way...the game looks incredible after the patch. I mean...it looked insanely good before, but it's even better now. And the 60fps just sweetens the deal.

It says I played 72 hours last year...in total. What do think? True or false

But I want to brag Nah, I remember originally playing on Give Me God Of War and thoroughly enjoying it. I didn't get killed in one hit, which allows for at least one mistake. It's a weird one. I expected it to be really difficult, but the one-shot thing is just more annoying than anything... I might just cave in and farm for the best armor on a non-NG+ save. I want to finish Control first, anyways, before starting a new God of War playthrough, so farming might actually be nice when I want to take a break from Control

In preparation of the new patch I decided to start NG+ on Give Me God Of War to see how it'll go. I get killed in one hit by the first enemy and do almost no damage... So much for my plan to do an NG+ run on the highest difficulty Don't wanna farm stuff before I start either... WHAT TO DO...

Whenever I hear Zachariah Trench talk I just have to imagine it's Max Payne...

Great write-up @Julius Have the games on my Vita, tried the first one a few times but hated the battle system...never gone back. It's a shame as I've only heard great things about Suikoden...

Gave this a whirl last night. First things first: It looks beautiful on PS5. Graphics Mode is gorgeous. But it's 30fps so I naturally switched to performance mode. 60fps all the way for me. And the game still looks good. DualSense support is great. It's funny, in the past I've usually turned off vibration, especially on the Switch as the HD rumble is ass but DualSense's haptics are just something else. Feeling each and every one of Jesse's steps feels just right. Adaptive triggers are still transformative, yet feel weirdly natural. I keep being amazed at how well they work (when done right...they are crap in Demon's Souls when you use a bow, for example). Sound is almost immaculate. Music occasionally cuts out, which is a little irritating. So...how's the rest? Here's a mostly accurate representation of me last night: Narrator: "He was scared." Control is creepy, which is something I did - not - know. As you all know, I'm a brave, brave man which is why Horror is my favourite genre EVER so...no big deal. Narrator: "It was a big deal" (yeah, this joke's never been funny). What I've played so far kinda builds up to a jump scare but it hasn't come...yet? I can deal with psychological creepiness. I actually really like that (I'm serious). But as soon as something comes out of nowhere, screams in my face and JUST SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME...I'm out I'll keep playing, though. Gameplay is fun, if very limited so far, but I've just completed the first mission. Lots of new skills/abilities/weapons to come, I would assume. The world building is also pretty cool. It throws you in, you get a few bits and pieces of information/characters/lore but generally it's: You're here for something, shit went down, you're the one, deal with it. I like that blunt approach to set the stage. The mystery is intriguing and I can't wait to see where this is all going. Well...got a few responsibilities to take care of IRL but I'll get back to Control pretty soon.

Destruction AllStars (PS5, February 2021 as part of PS+)
drahkon replied to drahkon's topic in Other Consoles
It's out Still downloading/installing but I was able to play the tutorial (with no music...guess that wasn't fully downloaded, yet). So far, so good. Movement is fluid and the gameplay mechanics work a treat. The game's beautiful, sound design is great, haptics and triggers feel good. Can't wait to give this a proper go once the download is finished. Edit: Played the first match of the "story mode", i.e. the first match of the only Challenge Series character that's available for free. It was a lot of fun. Still no music during the match, though. That's a little weird. Not a fan of how the Challenge Series is handled. Having to pay for each of the characters' series would be ok, if it wasn't a full-price game. Yes, it's free for PS+ subscribers, but newcomers will have to pay for the game and for the single player portion. I'm not sure if I'm going to pay for even a single new Challenge Series, to be honest. Anyways...wanted to give the multiplayer a go, but it doesn't seem to work. Matchmaking gets stuck once a lobby is full...Oh well, gonna try again tomorrow. -
Still have to get the Platinum so...this is awesome

No idea if it runs on my phone... Kinda stupid that this will be on the latest patch, but the PS4 and Switch versions are still running on an older version...

13.82M people have been utterly disappointed

Yeah, it's all good now. No need to boil the water anymore Happy to hear about your dad being OK again
-
Fair enough. I must've misremembered your disdain for roguelites then
-
Thank goodness I wonder, did you buy Dead Cells and if you did, why? Usually you do your research about games and should've known that this is a roguelite, meaning you would've avoided it like the plague

There is now a "deals" tab in the PS5 store. Took them long enough

There's a demo out now. At least it should be? Can't actually download it on my PS5 even though it's in the PSN store. (Edit: Worked via the app) Haven't checked my Switch and obviously no Microsoft console. Edit: Finished the demo (yes, it's quite short) and I loved it. Turned off the quest markers, compass and all that jazz. Only had potions, health, stamina and skills left on the screen. While the quest for the demo was very straight forward, it did require a bit of exploration to finish. Managed to navigate the area via distinct structures or statues or landmarks. Combat is fun. Very few skills in this demo, but I can see it evolving quite a bit with more abilities to unlock. Game is beautiful, too. Obviously a cross-gen game, but still...gorgeous. Runs smoothly, as well. Haven't paid attention to the story/dialogue, i.e. I skipped what could be skipped (it's what I do with demos that don't allow saves to carry over ), so I can't comment on that. I've always been interested in this and the demo turned this into a "this will be my next game situation". Hope this isn't too far off.

Only if it was on the consoles I own In Cadence of Hyrule's case it's obvious that the game couldn't come out on anything other than Nintendo's device. If it's an IP which is exclusive to one company and if the indie studio isn't bought out, I'm fine with it.
