Xpert 11 Season 31: Is it true what they are saying?
Jimbob replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
My fault entirely, i let my team get old without developing a younger team. It's starting to get into fruitition with my efforts. -
Xpert 11 Season 31: Is it true what they are saying?

Not a bad result, 3-1. I'm still developing a defensive line-up, trying to get a decent keeper sorted out, either from youth or from the transfer window -

Played some of the demo, reminds me of the Gamecube version. Which of course, I spent quite a few hours playing. Controls seem refined, and so far it does seem better than Tennis.

Yeah, if i get frustrated with a game i tend to throw the control pad on my bed and/or shake it. My mate however, he's been through 3 Xbox 360 controllers (1 was a spare i had) as he tends to throw them out of the window. Edit: Forgot, i did smash a Wiimote up when playing the later stages of Super Mario Galaxy.

Same, but i found 1 weed and felt i accomplished my taking part. Lief sent for a public works project which i'm looking into.

I used to stick "invisible" walls up on FIFA to stop a mate of mine deliberatly kicking the ball off the field as it was annoying me. Yeah, i used to use cheat codes in single player mode. My most memorable use of these was in Goldeneye on the N64. I used cheat codes to unlock all the cheats, then used a combo of codes i found in the back of N64 Magazine to allow me to be "invincible with unlimited ammo" in the missions on any difficulty so i could unlock all the levels. And i also used to play on "easy mode" when i was younger, wasn't as experienced a gamer back then. These days, i don't use cheat codes (well, except in GTA to get a spawning tank or something) when i want to have a rampage/fun outside of story mode. And i start my games on "medium" or "normal" to get a feel for the game before i venture into "hard mode" once i've got the experience of the levels. I have a pet hate for anyone whom cheats to get an advantage in multiplayer mode, i do purposely go for players whom cheat. Same as my mates whom see it happen. Red Dead Redemption springs to mind (before Rockstar fixed things) with players whom hid in buildings after finding a hiding spot inside buildings which were never meant to be accessed, whom became "invincible". This prevented people from finding them, let alone being able to kill them.

Some places certainly don't want people to benefit from things. Regarding Arriva, it's no wonder they are classed as one of the worst train companies in the UK if they can do this with rail fares. I should really go on a 1 man campaign to make things fair for all really. And in another bit of good news, i used the £1.50 saving to get 2 bottles of Coke Zero from a store on the way in and found 20p in the self service coin bin.

Won a small arguement with Arriva Trains today. Basically, 2 days last week (on the same time train on 2 consecutive days) i was charged £9.90 for my journey from Caldicot (where i live) to Llanishen (where i work) via Cardiff Central. I travelled on the 8:30am train. Was charged the same yesterday, but today the conductor attempted to charge me £11.40 for the same journey. I perked up, stated i was charged £9.90 for 3 previous journeys on the same time train. He asked for ticket proof, i showed him yesterdays ticket. He said it was a cheap day fare and the price was still £11.40. So i said if it was a cheap day fare, explain this. I showed him the other 2 tickets i had for cheap, he muttered something under his breath (probably towards me) and was reluctant to serve the cheaper fare, he had no choice as i proved him wrong. Got the cheap fare and promptly contacted Arriva via twitter and the contact centre and put my issues in. Managed to save £1.50, it's not a lot but it's a victory for the expensive train fares.

In my family, as far as i know i've got 2 cousins whom both play Nintendo still. Both are under 16 (14 and 9) and they play on their 3DS consoles. Out and about on the streets, there are 2 young people (i think aged about 9 or 10) whom play on a DS when i see them in town. And i do see some younger people playing on various Nintendo handhelds about on a weekend in the city. But other than that, nothing. Last time i bought a Nintendo game in-store, it was spotted by a group of people whom called me "childish" and i should be playing great* games like Call of Duty and FIFA, which according to him and his friends, is 10x better than Donkey Kong. It's starting to feel like Nintendo is becoming what the 90's were to gaming, people playing in discretion. *I laughed

The GameCube...or rather, the GREATCUBE!
Jimbob replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I knew i forgot something, this was also a great game. One of the games i picked up with the Gamecube when i first had it. I can't remember how many hours i put into it, but it certainly was peaking 100. Graphically (at the time) Lucasarts made it look stunning with excellent gameplay. -
The GameCube...or rather, the GREATCUBE!
Jimbob replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
What a brillant console the Gamecube was (and still is i might add). I was given the choice back in 2002/2003 for which i wanted. It was either a PS2 or a Gamecube, i chose the Gamecube and i don't regret it. Ok, there were droughts and that was expected. But the games i played certainly made this console memorable. My current Gamecube collection isn't a heck of a lot, which are · Super Smash Brothers: Melee · Super Mario Sunshine · Wind Waker · Prince of Persia: Trilogy · Mario Kart: Double Dash It would have been less, if not non-existent. But i saved these from being sold by the folk once i got an Xbox 360 back in 2006. They had a habit of doing this, and i have no idea why. I'm in the process of rebuilding the collection with some of the games i had before (and that i can remember). During my experiences of playing Gamecube, i played some absolute classic games. Which included the brilliant F-Zero GX from Sega. As it's been said, all it needs is a solid online mode and it would have been perfect. Other games i've played include Pikmin which is an excellent game for the beginning of a great series, Metroid Prime. Again, such a brilliant game from an unknown company known as Retro Studios. Game looked fantastic, especially the drifts. Luigi's Mansion was one of them underrated gems of this era. And of course, not forgetting WWE Day of Reckoning which was a top quality wrestling game, beats the previous outings on Nintendo (close to beating No Mercy, but not quite) It was nice to see Snake on the Cube in the form of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. If anyone had the chance to play this, it was nice to play it on controls which felt comfortable. I like it, not sure whom else did. Rare's outing before being sold to Microsoft came in the form of Starfox Adventures. I didn't like it too much, it had Rare on the box. But was lacking in gameplay terms what i liked about Rare. Which was a shame, but that is how it was i guessed. Of course, i'm not forgetting about Wind Waker. As it's been said, Wind Waker with it's graphics suited the Gamecube to the tee. Super Mario Sunshine. Nice gmae, didn't like Fludd too much, but was satisfied with the game as a whole. Mario Kart: Double Dash. Brilliant co-op version of the series, again like Smash Brothers i spent hours with friends playing this. And of course Super Smash Brothers: Melee. Melee is the best Smash Brothers to date, so many characters and levels. Played so much at parties, it made my thumbs hurt at the time. The age old arguement with Twilight Princess still rumbles with some people. Some prefer the Wii version, others the original Gamecube version. This will always be a Gamecube game in my eyes. I’m planning on building up my collection again, but with versions available of Pikmin and Metroid on the Wii, I’ll be getting these instead. -
Wow, time has flown. Had mine back in 1992 when i was 6, along with Tetris and Super Mario Land. I blame my parents, they moan i was always playing games. But they got me into gaming from purchasing a NES and a Gameboy in the same year (one for my birthday, one for Christmas).
-
I raised it many times, even up until Thursday evening. And i was only greeted with "Come in, or face a disciplinery". Unions are doing squat, just speaking a lot of hot air. And to top it off, if i want a lunch break then it comes out of my holiday entitlement. Don't i love being shafted, not.
-
Joy, in work tomorrow. Of which i see no point, everyone will think we are closed and won't call. And i'm not being paid double time for it (as contractually it says i do), just an extra £8 for the day. Have tried to get out of it, but alas to no avail.

Gamers - What Are You Playing At The Moment?

Spent the weekend plodding through Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. And realized, after putting in 15-20 hours gaming that there is a lot to do still. -

Little Things You Miss About Previous Generations
Jimbob replied to Goafer's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Split-screen multiplayer gaming. Having had the chance to replay that at a recent streetpass event (in the tune of F-Zero X i might add), being able to play this way is certainly different to how we play today. The hard part is trying to figure out what corner of the screen you are on. And of course, there are the others mentioned here. Parents buying games. Well, it is kind of still there. But it's not as fun anymore, considering the fact that you can go out and get any game you fancy these days. Back then, like @Goafer i only had games 2 or 3 times a year (unless i saved my pocket money up) and they were from parents. And yes, you played them to death. Covers, manuels etc. Most of the time these days, it is all "Get your gaming manual electronically online". And it misses the good stuff (aka the new "smell", the art etc). Having that one friend who knew how to get a certain character/level etc. These days, a quick look online and bam. There you go. -
Gamers - What Are You Playing At The Moment?
Jimbob replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I've been venturing into Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on the Vita this past week (picked up the HD collection for £10 at CEX). I did play it on the 360 a year or so ago, but couldn't really get into it as such. For some reason, Sony controls seem more natural for this sort of game. -
I've got a 16gb card in mine at present, with a few Plus games downloaded. That should suffice as i doubt you'll want to download all the PS plus games, after all they remain on the download list as long as you remain a PS+ member i believe. It's upto you however what you go for, 32gb is a good size card and can amass some of the larger PS+ games on offer.
-
That is a good achievement in just 5 months since launch. Some people are saying that it could reach 14-15 million by years end, which if it does that then wow. Sony are doing something right for a change, should (hopefully) make a decent profit on that.
