Well, that's my £5 now and then gone. I just cashed out my last £5, so it's there for when i fancy a small deal.

With PlayStation, i've gone down the PS+ route for a lot of my gaming. And when i get PS+, it's usually on a sale or something. £120 a year, and you get a heap of games to play isn't too bad value, if you only went this route for your gaming needs. What's that, £10 a month (ish). Last game i bought was 2 months back in Assassin's Creed Shadows, and before that was Sonic & Shadow Generations back in October 2024. I used to get plenty of games Day 1, but that is no longer the case (purchasing that is). Rest of 2025, 3-5 more games i'm interested in getting. Death Stranding 2, Metal Gear Solid, Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon ZA). Will any be Day 1, perhaps 2 off that list will be. Rest i'll wait on a reduction or Christmas monies. Or wait until CEX has them for a reasonable price and buy then. Gamepass covers a fair few Day 1 releases, which with them releasing on PS5 (and soon to be Switch 2) means i'll play through Gamepass and save some monies. Doom Dark Ages is one such game coming to Xbox and PS5. Cheers to EE for providing Gamepass through my contract, saves me some monies here. I've noticed the same on Era @Hero-of-Time. Lot of people buy games partially for FOMO, but you do see some logical peeps who wait for sales and play later on. Saying that, i'm throwing down £500 on the Switch 2 next month (with a couple accessories) and probably going digital on any purchases to save some monies as well. Edit: I forgot to add Nintendo onto this. Nintendo is sort of the one company i make an exception on, and that's mostly because their 1st party games rarely go down in cost. One prime example we can use here is Breath of the Wild coming to Switch 2 where they are increasing the price for an 8 year old game, and not bundling the DLC. A game like that is something (around launch anyway) where i'd happily put down £70 to buy as i'd easily get that many hours, if not more from it.

I'm certainly looking forward to Switch 2. It's not on par with the excitement i had for Switch 1, but it's up there. Games-wise, there's Mario Kart World to look forward to. But that's really it to be honest, i do have a fair few Switch games i'm waiting to play or finish on Switch 2. 2 stand-outs for me here are. Tears of the Kingdom Pokemon Scarlett Not saying both don't play fine on Switch (ok, Pokemon still has issues) but playing on newer hardware will be great. I'll be interested in seeing how Fortnite plays here. Yes, it worked fine on Switch. But it is night and day different between here and PS5, and i like to chill on the sofa of an evening playing (Portal does a fine job here) Someone did raise a point, will Mario Kart World be pre-installed on those getting the bundle or will it need downloading from the eShop. And if so, will it hold up with the sheer volume of peeps downloading stuff. Feeling the same as i was when the PS5 came out. Had my launch game or two, and a few PS4 games i was holding back for the new machine to tide me over.

Lot of people are believing this latest price increase is to counter the tariffs President Trump is pushing across the world. I get it, but seriously please increase the US prices as well. I know i'm thinking optimistically, but maybe the latest increases may push people towards purchasing an Xbox (or a device that can play Xbox) as prices have not gone up as much (or as often) as of yet. -
Just like when we were all kids I do the same, get the challenges in on any games for some PSN credit. Did save some for a PS+ renewal last year, saved me about £25
-
Not forgetting re-releasing Breath of the Wild at an increased price, and not including it's DLC (game is 8 years old) Usually by now, console prices are coming down in price. Not going up....... The PS5 digital edition is practically the same price (near enough) as the disc edition PS5 was at launch now. Coupled with an increase in PS+ in some areas, this really is becoming a niche market. I did read on a Reddit post that Sony may want to consider re-branding the PS5 Pro into the PS6 going forward if prices just keep going up. On one side now, it's making the Switch 2 look better.

In terms of Nintendo lotteries, most recent i got into was that "Mystery Game" thing they ran last year, didn't get into others. I mean, it is what it is. Wasn't lucky with Nintendo, i guess that was meant to be. I certainly fitted the criteria, but it was a lottery after all. Speaking of lotteries, ShopTo invited me to upgrade my Back Order (i was meaning to pay it last week) to a confirmed Day 1 order, just have 24 hours to pay. Sounds corny, but i trust ShopTo more than i would Argos, and Amazon with it's 2 days after release delivery date as confirmed (i checked with customer services, they confirmed the 7th as delivery day and wouldn't be any earlier) Edit: Who was it who said Argos can be awkward. I'll say so, just cancelling an order is a blooming minefield. The auto chat says i can't cancel, the agent is saying the supplier will decide if i can cancel. Shouldn't really be this hard should it?

I'll be surprised if prices in the US don't increase for Switch 2 because of the tariffs. The US is a big market for Nintendo, so maybe they'll look to either swallow some costs themselves and pass some onto the consumer or bump the cost up altogether. And yes, US fans may get an invite before me as well @Julius. I'm never fortunate on the Nintendo lotteries, and if i did get an invite, i'd more than likely just use it to get the GameCube controller as i have a locked in (well, 2) Switch 2 order.

If the UK/EU is possibly next in line (but then, the US could be next), then i reckon we'll see something around summertime. I'm quite surprised Nintendo are not upping NSO+ seeing as now you're getting 2 upgrade packs and GCN games. -
Ah, we didn't specify Well, if it's started already then hope for the best

Summoning circle?

True. If it doesn't work, i'll transfer the funds i've already paid for the card onto the Pro controller and wait. They did have the GameCube NSO controller up for order, but the image was of a 3rd party HORI pad. Weird locking an SD card behind an invite link. Amazon have MicroSD Express cards for sale, 256gb as well. They're not Nintendo branded, but should work all the same.
-
I didn't get lucky with MNS for a pre-order invite. Never really do, i did meet the critera they were asking for (2 years NSO, over 50 hrs play and have emails opted in). Even so, i think it was a lottery ala the Preview event and Alarmo, so hey ho. However, i have my Argos order secured (unless they monumentally screw up) and a back-up in the form of Amazon (they gave a 22 hour window from an invite link, which i locked in last weekend). Also managed to get a Pro controller, carry case and MicroSD Express ordered through ShopTo. Weird how the SD card is locked for those who've not pre-ordered a Switch 2 on MNS. I'm done for now, let the waiting game begin.

Nice, they must have had several cancellations. Been tempted to pay for mine and wait and see what happens (aka, cancel the Amazon one i have and pay for this). Amazon are still saying it'll be delivered on the 7th or later.
-
Same as @Julius, on the one hand for me they were good when i ordered my PS5. Ok, it was a brick n mortar store i ordered from, but it was still there for me. And they shipped out a replacement DualSense when my launch model broke during COVID as i couldn't get to a store. On the other, articles on Eurogamer in the past have highlighted their troubles with not fulfilling orders, not getting any Silent Hill orders (or even shipping with missing pre-order bonuses) and getting boxes of Zedeya figures over actual games or just getting 1 new copy of a game in.
-
Yeah, done that with Amazon already. They offered me the Mario Kart bundle one, so even better. It's locked in, and i'll probably cancel the Argos one later on. Amazon can't delivery until 7th June, but if 2 days longer wait means i'll get one then so be it.
-
Missed out on the ShopTo first batch of consoles. I've been hearing it was a bit of RNG, with some people who registered early (like myself in January) missing out and some who registered a few weeks ago getting a chance. However, i did get an order with Argos confirmed via email and text around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon. I have heard that Argos have a tendancy to over order and not provide, so we'll see what happens here. As a back-up, Amazon sent me an invite to pre-order which i confirmed earlier. If i keep hearing about the horror stories from Argos, i'll cancel and go with Amazon.

Makes sense as to why they removed an extensive chunk of older titles from various storefronts.
-
I mean, would Nintendo go the route Sony have done and charge £10 for an upgraded version of an already existing game.........or will it be full whack of £50-£70 for a newer Switch 2 version. And more so, would people buy them knowing these games will work on Switch 2.
-
Smyths are quite good for picking up the console from as well. Amazon, i've had some friends who've had issues with Amazon not delivering pre-ordered games on day of release.

Jeez, there's Dirty Dom heat. Then there's the heat Hogan had during his sporadic appearance. People just didn't want to see him at all.

I had cancelled mine back in July/August for financial reasons, but never closed my account. So getting December for free is a nice bonus (i honestly don't think i should get it, but i'm not complaining). Waiting for the inevitable Netflix price increase next year to pay for this

Shhh, don't tell everyone i scour Era 🤪 It's working very well. Completly forget that my monitor automatically goes on when the PS5 switches on, so the Mrs was wondering why Tetris Effect was playing itself when she walked past my games room/office. Quite like that the Pulse Elite headset works on it without a dongle, thanks to the new wireless settings within. The touchpad is the screen now, one touch pad either side of the left/right sticks. Cloud gaming on it works very well, which is the main reason i got one. Remote play wasn't a selling point, and i said to myself i'd get one if they put Cloud gaming on. My internet is quite fast, so i get a good connection and get little to no latency on it.
