Oxigen_Waste Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Shortbus. I don't know why, but I absolutely loved this one. 8/10, for it's shortcomings, other than that, it's a 9.
welsh_gamer Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Watched around 75% of Dead Poets Society last night, and enjoyed what I saw. Would of had loved to see what happened next after the famous ending. Not gonna give it a raiting as I didn't watch it all. This film did remind me of a film that has been on TV a lot tho. Can anyone help me find the title. It was about a teacher, who was gay and something happend....lol I think it stared the guy who played Professor Quirell in Harry Potter.
mariosmentor Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 The Painted Veil Edward Norton still doing his straight faced seriousness routine from The Illusionist, but still, he is immense. The film is quite an effective drama and not overly romantic as I thought it would be. Quirky and curious is how I would best describe it. Ending was way too rushed though. Shame. 6/10 Fracture Anthony Hopkins seems to be hired only for the Hannibal Lecter performance in what is supposed to be some murder mystery, however I sussed it out at the beggining so the mystery was gone and what I was left with was Silence of the Lambs mixed with My Cousin Vinny with Ryan Gosling instead of Joe Pesci. *Shudder* 3/10 Sunshine If you loved Event Horizon you'll love this. Space paranoia mixed with tension and a small dose of horror. Effective build up to a climatic end, with stunning images throughout. 9/10
Monopolyman Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Fracture Not a bad film at all. I'll probably forget all about it in a few weeks, but still a decent popcorn flick. 7/10
welsh_gamer Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Munich Started off pretty boring, and it was around 20minutes too long, but not a bad film. One thing I found confusing, was that two important charcters in the film looked too simillar to each other. They both looked like Geoffrey Rush. Daniel Craig is in this too, and is pretty wicked! 6.5/10
gmac Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Casino Royale pretty good Bond film, too much poker, not enough action for my liking :p 7/10
Slaggis Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Sunshine Great film, scary, good plot, great characters.
Hellfire Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Spider Man 3 Pretty good, great action sequences, cool humor, great villains, great CGI, I really liked it.
Oxigen_Waste Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Spider Man 3Pretty good, great action sequences, cool humor, great villains, great CGI, I really liked it. x2. Good movie. James Brown still lives.
Dog-amoto Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Spiderman 3 9/10 Great action and CGI, let down a point by the slightly ridiculous bits near the end Was a bit worried about this movie not being able to tie up all the loose ends especially with so many new characters and villains, but it all came together very well in the end.
Retro_Link Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Spiderman 3 - 9/10 Great story, awesome action and CGI, good comedy moments to give you a break from the action. The film managed to tell all the different storylines well, without anything seeming particularly rushed, or the film being to long. I REALLY enjoyed it!!
welsh_gamer Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Finding Nemo Watched this with my 2 yr old cousin this afternoon. One of the better Pixar films imo, funnier than Cars and Monsters INC and fantastic CGI. 9/10 SpiderMan 2 I also have Spider Man fever, but not seeing the new film till Tuesday or Wednesday! Grrrr. Great action film, even tho I did find some of the scenes very cheesy this time round, and CGI spiderman looked very fake when he was flying around NY. 8/10
ReZourceman Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Spider-Man 3 9/10 Awesomest Spidey film. Not as good as Batman Begins though...still sitting high on its throne there for a while I think. Spidey was totally rocking on the whole...amazing CGI, The best super hero fight scenes in any film...ever...but a few really dodgy scenes.
Stocka Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Spiderman 3 6/10 Great action, story didn't do it for me though. Generally felt like it was trying to be something it's not. ...please don't slam me for not being a Spidey fan :/
Haver Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 American History X: Eddy-boy! You are my favourite. Me and You and Everyone We Know: ))<>(( Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Savage! Spiderman 3: Kirsty is getting old This is Hollywood, after all.
mcj metroid Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 [ Sunshine If you loved Event Horizon you'll love this. Space paranoia mixed with tension and a small dose of horror. Effective build up to a climatic end, with stunning images throughout. 9/10 except the fact that event horizan is 1 million times better without any exaggeration. This film didn't know what it wanted to be. it really rips off event horizan badly in parts and is sometimes very funny. Climatic end? It's got a bad case of ' drunken dog camera angles'. It's boring and is funny rather than scary and the brightness gave me a headache. i forget what i gave it before but this deserves a 5/10 a 9/10 to me is departed quality SpiderMan 2 I also have Spider Man fever, but not seeing the new film till Tuesday or Wednesday! Grrrr. Great action film, even tho I did find some of the scenes very cheesy this time round, and CGI spiderman looked very fake when he was flying around NY. 8/10 Yes it had some chessy lines. i think mary jane said' i was waiting by your door all my life''...........WTF!
Mundi Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Spiderman 3 the movie started okay kinda corny and shaky on the storyline part but forgivable thanks to the special effects but something just happened, shortly after the break everything went down the shit hole and back up again to slap you in the face.... The building crane part, a crane loses control and is obviously pulling up some sort of anti-metal because it ripped the house apart like it was made out of card board. Best part of the scene is when Spiderman saves the chick and goes away even though there are more people in the building... and yeah.... the crane still you know... not stopped (unless i missed something) Harry loosing his memory.... That really was kinda pointless 5 minutes of the with Harry and Peter going "Oh were the bestest friends ever!" And then it went back to "You killed my blablabla i won´t listen to you saying he died because himself but i´ll listen when my butler tells me the same story then i´ll believe it" And the final scene with Spiderman and The new goblin VS Sandman and Venom, that scene was very cool fighting and effects wise but come on Spiderman and The Goblin teaming up? And the bit where Spiderman lands in front of the USA flag before the fight made me wanna puke it was so cheesy. Finally Loud noises defeated Venom, how convenient that something this easy would win him.... To me the movie started kinda good but went horribly wrong later on, the fights and the special effects were very good and was the only thing that made me not wanna go to sleep... oh and Bruce Campell Like i said to my friend this movie started like a small snowball rolling down a snowy hill growing bigger and bigger until it hits a bigger rock and pushes the rock down the hill and crushes and orphanage 3/10
mariosmentor Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 except the fact that event horizan is 1 million times better without any exaggeration. It's boring and is funny rather than scary and the brightness gave me a headache. i forget what i gave it before but this deserves a 5/10 a 9/10 to me is departed quality The difference here is that Event Horizon was a flat out horror. Sunshine is not. It borrows from Event Horizon however in turn it is not the same style of movie. Sunshine plays out more like an adventure whereas it seems you were looking for a horror movie. And those drunken dog camera angles? They are not supposed to be scary, its purpose is to be an alternative to a static shot on what is supposed to be a fearful entity. A static shot would have been a complete reveal of what he had become, something I think is a problem in modern cinema where people demand to be able to "See the beast" in all its CGI glory instead of any tension and buildup. People want slaughter fests and action. Thankfully this is not. It's a potrayal of a journey, a journey to save the earth and the effect this has on each of the characters psychologically as the mission begins to fail at every turn. If you want to see holes in people and heads ripped off the this isn't the movie for you. Beautiful cinematography to boot leaves me still with my desicion of 9/10.
Marshmellow Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Just watched Shawn of the Dead, good film. Pretty funny, scared me once, made me laugh a lot, the only reason I got it was because it reminded me of Dead Rising, and it did not let me down! But overall it still just seemed like an 8/10 film. I didn't want Ed to die or I guess not really die, but become "Zombified".
AshMat Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Stay Alive 6/10 Like The Ring, but with a video game isntead of a video tape.. Wasn't scary at all, Jeeper's Creepers scary if ya know what i mean
Konfucius Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 K-Pax The TV-Review was actually a bit more promising than the actual film. He claims to be from outerspace and therefore is put in a mental hospital where he helps lots of patients and completely confuses the Doctor. If it wasn't for Kevin Spacey's genious play this film wouldn't affect me at all but he portraited that guy from outerspace really likeable. I'm still thinking a bit about the end, I have a theory but that's it. The film itself is quite good but nothing one have to see. 6/10
BeerMonkey Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Kill Bill - Volume 1 ALOT better than i thought it was gunna be it was infact one of the best films ive seen in a long time 9/10
Ellmeister Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Underworld Evolution Pretty Damn good! I loved the way there were flashbacks and such to the first one because I haven't seen that either, but I pretty much understood everything that was going on! And the final action scene was amazing! Imo:grin: 8/10
