mcj metroid Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 never seen the mario movie actually? Some mario fans think its good but my friend said it was shite.I must download it
somme Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I love it. Imagery and actual plot is fairly decent.
EchoDesiato Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Is that the movie that has Dennis Hopper as Bowser?
Monopolyman Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Clerks- 9/10 One of the funniest films I've ever seen, it was brilliant. I caught it on Youtube (it's posted in 11 parts if you wan to check it out) the other day, only watching it because I'm bored and I thought I'd only catch a few minutes of it, but turned out to be pretty damn good and watched it all. Could have done without the pretentious cue-cards every now andd then, but still fantastic. Apocolypse Now- 9/10 Everything about this is amazing. The War action sequences, cinematography, the fantastically quotable script (I think). It was a great film. I can't believe I only just watched this for the first time yesterday. And if anyone is ineterested, Heat is on BBC1 right now.
Fuzpoy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Mario isn't on DVD so you have to download it. Its not anything like any of the games, the only thing the same are the names in it.
WelshDragon360 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Snakes On A Plane - 10/10 Pure fun, never takes itself too seriously and is just an all-round enjoyable film. Best I've seen this year.
Fierce_LiNk Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I went to see Nacho Libre, and it was excellent. It has a very Napolean Dynamite feel to it, and i just found they both have the same director. So many great moments. Jack Black is hilarious! 9/10.

Napoleon Dynamite rules, and Jack Black rules even more.
triforce_keeper Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I think Napoleon Dynamite is a film you either love or hate. I personally HATED every second of it. No story. Pointless characters. Not funny. Terrible in my eyes.

I don't think the SMB movie is as bad as what many people think it is, okay, it isn't exactly colourful and cartoony as the SMB games, instead, it takes on almost a gritty look, a somewhat more realistic look at the SMB universe... some parts of the film are just pure camp, others are good... its like marmite, you either love it or hate it.
Ollie Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Mario isn't on DVD so you have to download it. Its not anything like any of the games, the only thing the same are the names in it. I have it on Region 1 DVD :awesome: Its shit.
L.J.G. Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Resident Evil Appocalypse 3/5 Underated sequal to Paul Andersons entertaning adaption of Capcom's popular video game. With a mostly non-American cast (well except for Mill Jovovich but shes hot) including Oded Fur and Siena Guilroy. The only bad point of the film is the way they have shifted the spot-light onto Alice instead of Jill (like it was in the game), but other than that a thoroughly enjoyable action zombie horror.
ThePigMarcher Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 After Hours An early Scorsese film , about some poor sod from Manhatten who after meeting a women in a cafe decides to go to meet her in Soho in the early hours of the morning. Things don't work out and all manor of bad and coincidental stuff happens to him and it means that no matter how hard he tries he just cannot get home. Features brilliant performances from Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette amongst others. Really loved the film and it does kind of remind you of the best/worst nights out you can have and the sense of isolation you feel when you end up in the wrong part of town in the middle of night (had a few of them myself). Overall 9/10
Dan_Dare Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 That sounds pretty excellent. I'll have to check that out.
Goron_3 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Just saw Snakes on a Plane...it was simply amazing. There were some really scary moments, but Kory (played by Kenan from Kenan and Kel) was hilarious, and Samuel L Jackson once again prove how much of a great actor he is. Seriously guys, check this film out! 9/10
Hellfire Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Silent Hill Without doubt, the best videogame movie ever. In fact, it's a pretty good movie. I don't know Silent Hill asides from the faptastic soundtracks, but I really don't care if it's faithfull or not. I really can't point out any gaping flaws in the movie. And the little girl is one hell of an actress, she's going to rock hard. EDIT: I actually like the SMB movie, sure it isn't very much alike the games, but it's a very nice spin. And it has Bob Hoskins. Just don't like the fact that Luigi's the main character (sort of).
knightendo Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I don't think the SMB movie is as bad as what many people think it is, okay, it isn't exactly colourful and cartoony as the SMB games, instead, it takes on almost a gritty look, a somewhat more realistic look at the SMB universe... some parts of the film are just pure camp, others are good... its like marmite, you either love it or hate it. yeh, it introduces mario and luigi to the mushroom kingdom, starting off in brooklyn and seeing daisy get kidnapped. i know the goombas are huge, i know the fact that the mushroom kingdom is in a parallel universe where it was dinosaurs, not mammals, that evolved into "people"-ish, but i really enjoyed it. yes toad is a person, as is koopa, iggy and spike, but they are meant to have evolved into these from the dinosair etc creatures in the games, so they all have weird quirks and ticks about them that are reptilian. there's tons of nintendo mario universe in-jokes for fans too. like the big yellow taxis have "wiggler taxi" signs on them, there's what looks like a dinner called "bulet bill's" etc etc the list is endless. it is quite dark and the kingdom is gritty, but that is only apparently because of koopa's reign, he's dried the kingdom up of its resources and it is no longer that which we know of in the games. the fungus is everywhere, and it even helps our heroes a few times, and you get the impression that the mushroom kingdom IS like the games underneath, away from the horrible city that koopa has had built. shame a sequel couldn't have explored that. i like it, it is very funny (the lift scene is hilarious!) and bob hoskins and john leguizamo are brilliant as our plumbers. 8/10 - if you can stomach a different take on the mushroom kingdom (which IS explained in a way, and the ending leaves it maybe being restored to the one we know and love) this is very enjoyable, and genuinely funny! Silent HillWithout doubt, the best videogame movie ever. In fact, it's a pretty good movie. I don't know Silent Hill asides from the faptastic soundtracks, but I really don't care if it's faithfull or not. when i saw the SMB movie the first time i was the same, i didn't know if it was faithful, and i loved it. was curious to see if i'd like it as much now that i know a lot more about the games and have become a huge fan of them they can both be enjoyed by fans i feel. well, me personally at any rate.
bob Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I just came back from Snakes on a Plane, and it was one of the best films ive seen this year. Absolutely awesome! 'A spork?' Brilliant.
Katie Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Mr & Mrs Smith I didn't know what the film was about so it was interesting trying to work out what was going on at the start. It's something a bit different, not too predictable and was pretty funny in places. 7/10 I should be seeing Snakes on a Plane this weekend, there's a few films I want to see in the cinema at the moment.
The Bard Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Currently downloading "The 40 year old virgin" cause I thought It'd be nice to see my life story before it actually happens :p. I'll keep you posted.
Noodleman Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Just come back from Nacho Libre. I wanted to go see Snakes On A Plane but was out voted Still it was fairly amusing and very similar in style to Napoleon Dynamite. 6.5/10

killthenet Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Saw "Snakes On A Plane" on Friday, and of course loved it. Wouldn't rate it too highly though, because it really is just a popcorn movie. Some awesome gags though and the last ten minutes sounded like they were lifted straight from forums. I could pick some many bad points out about it, but I won't, because it's not meant to be a critical success in any sense. Also, it had Nancy from Peep Show and she's pretty hot, so on that alone i'll give it a 7.
