Retro_Link Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 My thoughts, sorry if others don't agree. The Super Mario 3D Land level structure still hugely bothers me. Along with the 2D switch in general, like the Intro story scene only taking place on one plain. Visually the game looks beautiful!... although there's still something about the art style or character models I'm not liking. Great to see a lot of level and gameplay variety! ... although that large expensive level we saw... I'm not convinced, need to see more.
Serebii Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Menu icon. Also confirmation that players can use the GamePad, Wiimote, Wiimote + Nunchuck, Classic Controller and Pro Controller
Aneres11 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Looks incred. As thought to begin with. Never gonna please everyone. Can't wait to get me some Peachy playin goodness!
Ronnie Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The only thing I don't like is how we seem to be back to having each world as it's own predictable theme (Grass > Desert > Tropical > Snow etc etc). I hope that's not the case as I much preferred the randomness of 3D Land.

I think its tragically disappointing that this is the first HD 3D Mario game.
Serebii Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 But it's not really 3d. Like, proper 3d like. You troll :p
Wii Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I can't wait to pop Princess Peach's cherry in this game
dazzybee Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Toad just had to look away! Mario is absolutely loving it!
Lens of Truth Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The music in that trailer was a huge improvement on the previous theme. Sounds like they've got a real jazz band playing it
Fused King Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 My GGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!! That Music, Those colours, DAT GAMEPLAY! See, this is why NINTENDO is king to me: When they bring the gameplay, they bring the fucking gameplay! Sweet jesus, this will be so much FUN!! I take back everything I said about how this game would blow everyone away, IT WILL RIP THE ENTIRE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE STRAIGHT OFF OF THE EARTH! and Thank You NINTENDO Music Team for continuing in giving me eargasms!
Kav Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Humble pie well and truly eaten. It looks great, I admit it! Blows all prior footage away!
lostmario Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Looks fantastic, just what I imagined a HD Nintendo game to look like.
Guy Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Glad to see people coming around to playing this. It has the potential to be fantastic.
Serebii Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 ourney with Mario, Luigi and more to the Sprixie Kingdom in SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD! Bowser has kidnapped the Sprixie Princess, and it’s up to Mario and his friends to rescue her, racing to the Goal Pole at the end of various stages along the way! The Sprixie Kingdom contains all sorts of troublesome tricks and traps for our heroes to negotiate: transparent pipes to squeeze through, balls to aim and throw at enemies, and moving trains with roofs to ride! There may even be times when they need to clamber over a wall, just like a cat! With four-player local multiplayer and special Wii U GamePad controls, SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD is an all-new adventure that’s only available on Wii U! Mario’s range of headwear – and special abilities – continues to expand! Along with classics such as Tanooki Mario and Boomerang Mario, there are several new power-ups to discover. Pick up a Super Bell to turn Mario into a wall-climbing, claw-scratching cat, wear a Cannon Box on your head to launch projectiles, or collect a Double Cherry to generate a helpful clone so you can attack on the double! This adventure isn’t all about Mario, though! Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad are along for the ride too, and they each have different skills and abilities to offer. Mario offers the most balanced set of skills, while Luigi can leap the highest, Princess Peach can hover in mid-air and Toad is the fastest on the ground. Choose whichever character you like and use their unique skills to fully explore every corner of the courses! Up to four people can play together in SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD’s local multiplayer mode – work together to clear a stage or compete to see who can get the highest score at the end of each level! A variety of different controllers* can be used, so select the one which best suits your style of play. Uncover one of the many Stamps hidden throughout the Sprixie Kingdom and you can use it to customise the messages you post to Miiverse from within the game. Have fun collecting them all! http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=213521 Interesting stuff
bryanee Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Based on the overworld, the "tropical" level is the same as the grass one Notice the doorway in the hedge? I hope there are plenty of secrets to discover which are not just unlocked by collecting coins. Edited October 1, 2013 by bryanee
Retro_Link Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 At first I thought it was a level based on the world maps which would have been kinda cool.
Ronnie Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The music in that trailer was a huge improvement on the previous theme. I preferred the previous theme, but the new one is good too, though I can imagine it'll just be trailer music and not in-game.
Fierce_LiNk Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 That trailer was pretty sweet. The game suffers from a sense of duality, though. On the one hand, it looks fun as hell. On the other hand, something about it seems slightly off. To me anyway. I don't know what it is yet.

Its the perspective, being constantly slanted and at that set angle which takes away its "3D" ness, ironically.

ReZourceman Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Thankfully, you can control the camera however you please If that's true for most levels that makes it literally ten times better IMHO.
