Well I've read that @Jimbob just had his Christmas party recently, And last year the Christmas party stories thread was pretty successful.

So here is the 2011 edition.

As for me, this year there will be no epic suits like Last year

I had my work party there on Saturday night and it was actually pretty decent  I don't have any pictures to post though it's amazing how much more awesome you feel when you wear a suit :awesome:

We just had a nice 3 course meal (The turkey and ham was so good ) and then there was some dancing and drinks.. or, for me, a glass of coke and standing around with my hands in my pockets.. just.. browsing :indeed: We also handed over the presents from the Secret Santa with relatively unsurprising results.

If a reasonable picture shows up at some point, I'll post it.. but I doubt it :heh:

My work party is tomorrow (we didn't book any where until Friday, so there wasn't much choice). Going to "party night" at a hotel (so lots of other companies/groups will be there). Boss is paying for everything. Not executing all that much.

standing around with my hands in my pockets.. just.. browsing :

What on earth were you browsing with your hands in your pockets? Actually, I don't want to know.

The boss is already planning the one for next year - he wants it a Manchester City's stadium.

My works do was last Saturday. Fairly standard, private hall and disco job. I was fairly shattered having worked the night before and gone to the Arsenal on Saturday. However I managed to have enough to drink so that I don't particularly remember the occasion.

Work do is thursday 22nd, they've given us friday off paid. It's upstairs at a nice pub, with free food and free drinks all night!

However it's also the only evening the 'Four Amigos' get together -- that's me and three long-standing mates. One's coming down from huddersfield for xmas but I'm going over to bournemouth for the same time.

There's one circle of friends having a meal tonight but I've opted out as I don't feel 100%, and another circle are doing something... at some point... but I can't remember when. After work this saturday I'll be going straight to an xmas party, which'll be knackering but fun, I'm sure!

We had ours a few weeks ago and it went pretty well. Thankfully ended up near/mingling with the younger and more fun academics but its always nice to get drunk on the company.

And then yesterday we had an 'away day' (in a different building, for an afternoon) and then went for drinks and a meal so it felt like another, smaller, Christmas party.

First Christmas party I've had in years, think the last was 08.

I arranged our lab Christmas party that we had last Friday, really enjoyed it. We booked a small gastropub in Central London for 13 and had some really nice food and plenty of drinks. Then the remainder of us head over to the Birkbeck for £1.50 drinks and some epic games of pool.

Next Tuesday is our department Christmas party... yay for Christmas parties. :D

Had mine last Thursday night at the Rose Bowl cricket ground. Pretty good, had dodgems and fairground stalls to keep us entertained, but they closed at a disappointingly early 11pm :(

Thankfully didn't get as drunk as last year, where I threw up on the coach after necking a bottle of wine on the dance floor. Woke up at half 6 the next morning, no hangover at all, which was a tiny bit disappointing seeing I spent a fair bit on drink on top of all the free wine!

Oh, and a pic :)

Ours is in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

I'm not going though for a few different reasons:

1) I see enough of these people during the week

2) I'm unlikely to get the pink pass for the night anyways with the kids succumbing to chickenpox.

3) I got my serious drinking session in a short while ago at an industry awards ceremony where I got my tux out.

Hope everyone has a good time at theirs and also, happy chrimbo all! :)

Got my bow tie sorted, got my tux ready...

Fiancée and her friend from work are getting the champagne on their way home from work for pre-party drinks, me and my work friend will be at my place from 4pm also indulging in pre-party beers.

If tonight goes like past work christmas parties it's going to be awesome!

The boss has came in (he was busy all morning). He's a bit annoyed that we built up a tab of over £300 (there were six of us, including him) on drinks. Although it's more that he thinks they've shafted us than annoyed about us spending it.

Well I said on Facebook but will say it here too...

I could seriously attempt to try and saw my head in half with a butter knife, cause I'm pretty sure It could not Hurt anymore than it already does!

It was an awesome night, they had archery stall at the place, they had acrobatic things going on while eating. There were sword fights with flaming swords... And then there was soooooo much free booze.

My night began with a bottle of champagne, beers, onto Jack Daniels and come. Red wine with the starter, White wine with the main, Rose with the pudding, jaegerbombs to start proceedings for dancing, back to JDs then to get some energy vodka redbulls.

All drunk talk of course but the it director went on a sphool on how valuable I am and such. Loved it!

But then he took my fiancée off my hands for a dance while I mingled.

Awesome awesome awesome night! The Christmas party is the best thing about working at our company heh. 5th party there for me... Becoming a veteran now as opposed to the turnout of staff we have had there!
