What Have You Bought?

Got a desk mat to complete my WFH setup. Had it custom made by a specialist felt company in Germany and have to say I’m pretty pleased with it:

How much did you pay for your German, custom-made, bit of rectangular felt?

And here is the rest of it. Had to fight with my bank to put the payment through. £1360 total plus the motherboard it's £1500 ish

You managed to get a GPU from somewhere? Crazy times for graphics cards. It's almost okay if you're upgrading because your old card will also sell for more than it's worth. I was subscribed to all sorts of stock notification places and managed to grab a 3070 at the start of the year.

I reused an old GeForce GTX Titan Black. Card is several years old but it will do untill i can source an upgrade to an RTX.

Speaking of GPUs...

Like everyone else, I've been trying to get a 3070/3080GTX for sometime, the idea being that my husband would take it and I'd get his 2070 for my rig I built for it specifically end of 2019. Instead my brother in law reminded me that he was selling a 2070 Super that he got last year (that has done very little with really) so I nabbed it. Perhaps more expensive than I was planning, but I got the "family" discount. So my PC is complete almost 2 years later!

Okay I'm cheating here because it was gifted rather than bought, but I now have an iPhone 6s!

I've used Android up until this point, and I can see why people like their iPhones so much. While the 6s isn't the most powerful thing in the world, it's still very slick, the UI is fast, it's very easy to use and contains no bloatware from Motorola or Hawaralag or whatevers.

Idk if this sounds daft but it sort of feels like if my Android is a PC, my iPhone is a console. You can't do everything with it but what's there works with no hassle.

So yeah new phone, yay! :D

Arrived today, early impressions are good so far. The case is a lot smaller than I expected.

They reappeared with limited stock yesterday on Amazon so I ordered a pair again. Arrived today and I really like them so far. Much nicer fit than my Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. I did have to play with the equaliser a bit though to get a sound I liked, the default felt slightly muffled.

How're you enjoying them now you’ve had a good amount of time with them?

I found they start to get uncomfortable after wearing for a long period. I'm using the medium/default size ear tips so might try the small. I gave them a quick go and they felt too small and the noise cancelling didn't work as well. Might have to give it a longer shot. Kinda wish they had the wing tips that the WF-SP800N models have as they feel like they might fall out as they are a bit heavier than I expected (they never have though).

Sound quality no complaints and the noise cancelling works very well. I'm not an audiophile so I've not messed with the settings yet, but sound fine to me.

I ended up switching to the large ear tips as I could still hear things like fan noise when I had the anc on. Should have my usual video call with @Goafer on Wednesday night so that’ll be a good test of how I feel wearing them for a long amount of time.

This turned up earlier and I've not yet looked at it properly but really impressed with how well its made. There's a heft to it and the texture and smell of it is very new book.

I came across this last week, perhaps it would interest you as well:

Cheers. That particular issue doesn't really interest me (indifferent to horror) but will keep an eye on it.

The missus and I had a day away to Glasgow and treated ourselves to a few things. I picked up the following:

A Super Mario Land cartridge notebook. Saw it and as it was the first game I played on the original Gameboy back in the early 90s I couldn't pass it up.

And I picked up this for the missus as her first lego set:

All the indie/AA games. Keep me going for a couple of weeks. The Forgotten City is fantastic though. If anyone wants a well written time loop game that comes together really well (sorry 12 Minutes but not you) then I can't recommend The Forgotten City enough.
