Ashley Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Wouldn't it be funny if they announced the Switch Pro 1
Ike Posted March 25 Posted March 25 At least if the TWW/TP ports happen, I will be able to finally put my Wii U away.

Maybe not a "pro" edition per se, but spruce it up a little bit internally, have a nice fancy limited edition design. Make the OLED screen the standard and discontinue the OG. 64gb storage. Same on the Lite, few new colours. $100 / £100 price drop for both models. Pack in a big hit or two. Finally kick of a player's choice range. Congratulation, PS2 is dunzo. 10 million+ EZ sales. 1

After playing the original Wind Waker again, going back to not having the Game Pad screen for that game is so frustrating. More so than losing the other changes. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Are we expecting a tweet/announcement at 2pm for tomorrow's Direct? If real, I can't imagine them just dropping the thing out of nowhere.

If real, I can't imagine them just dropping the thing out of nowhere. Yeah, 14:00 GMT / 15:00 BST in the summer has generally been when they drop news of general Directs for a little while now, though if it's under different branding then it might go up at a different time – for example, last year's Partner Direct got announced at 22:00 GMT. So I guess we'll know by tonight at the latest, because I'm with you, I'd be pretty shocked if they shadow-dropped this. Before rumours of this started going around I was thinking they'd drop the Switch 2 Direct runtime sometime today, but I figure they'll just give it a little bit of lip service to close the Direct out if that's happening tomorrow?

Julius Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Pyoro is back and saying that tomorrow's Direct won't be a Partner or Indie event: That leaves general Direct or a Mini... Worth noting that a number of Direct Minis have been announced the day of or shadow-dropped in the past. Edited March 26 by Julius
Dcubed Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Should be announced today and then happen tomorrow. 1 hour ago, Hero-of-Time said: Are we expecting a tweet/announcement at 2pm for tomorrow's Direct? MindFreak Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I'm torn. It's either pretty smart or rather dumb but it solves the problem I had foreseen as I was planning on letting my sons get my old Switch when Switch 2 launches but I didn't want to lose my games or let them use my profile. This way, they can still play our games on the old Switch.
Dcubed Posted March 28 Posted March 28 The fact that it doesn't require any sort of internet connection check-in is pretty killer; especially given the portable nature of the system. Great for multi-system ownership. 1

Tried charging in the dock, directly with the cable and with another cable I know does work. Left it for a few hours each time and not turning on. The charging light indicator also isn't turning on. Turns out it's not dead! I noticed earlier the dock plug was slightly out of the socket and that did it. Why it didn't work when I tried a different plug in a different socket I'm unsure. Maybe I was just really bad at plugging things in that day. 2 7
Cookyman Posted Tuesday at 06:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:37 PM Well after jumping ship a couple of generations ago I've finally decided to come back to Nintendo for the Switch 2. I've been flogging a bunch of N64 and Gamecube games on Ebay which were gathering dust in a couple of boxes for years. So the Switch 2 should cost me about £0.00. Look forward to playing with the forum crew again. 3 3
Helmsly Posted Wednesday at 04:44 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:44 AM (edited) There’s a new firmware update (2.0), adds quite a lot of stuff including Gameshare: Quote Ver. 20.0.0 (Released April 29, 2025) The following icons for new features have been added to the HOME Menu:Virtual Game Card Purchased Nintendo Switch digital software, DLC, and some free software, are now virtual game cards and displayed in a list in this menu. You can virtually load and eject virtual game cards between up to two Nintendo Switch systems. Virtual game cards can be lent to others in the same Nintendo Account family group. For more information, see Virtual Game Card Guide. GameShareCompatible software can be shared from a Nintendo Switch 2 system to other nearby system(s) to play together. You can only play together via local wireless, and the Nintendo Switch 2 system must initiate GameShare. This feature cannot be used between two Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch – OLED Model and/or Nintendo Switch Lite systems. User-Verification Settings has been added under User > User Settings. You can restrict access to the Virtual Game Card menu by requiring entry of a PIN or signing in to your Nintendo Account. Online License Settings has been added. When turned on, you can play downloaded software or DLC you've purchased while the system is connected to the internet, even if you don't have the virtual game card loaded. For more information, please refer to the details about the option on the System Settings screen. The Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Newsicon colors on the HOME Menu have been changed. Multiple save data can be selected and transferred at once in “Transfer Your Save Data” menu. System Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2 has been added under System Settings > System. You can perform a system transfer from your Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 using local communication. For users that will lose access to their Nintendo Switch before receiving their Nintendo Switch 2, there is an option to upload system transfer data to a dedicated server which can then be retrieved on their Nintendo Switch 2. After you upload your system transfer data to the dedicated server, the Nintendo Switch system will be initialized to factory settings, so only perform this transfer if you’ll be able to complete the transfer on Nintendo Switch 2. If you want to continue using your Nintendo Switch until you have a Nintendo Switch 2, we recommend completing the system transfer using local communication after you have acquired a Nintendo Switch 2 system. An internet connection and Nintendo Account is required to complete both local and the server-based system transfer service. For more information, see System Transfer from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2. The appearance of some user icons have been updated. Edited 10 hours ago by Helmsly 1

Cube Posted Wednesday at 06:01 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:01 AM The new update also deletes the DK profile icon and replaces with whoever it is you play as in Banaza. 1 1
Helmsly Posted Wednesday at 06:26 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:26 AM (edited) Yeah, I don’t like that they out-right replaced the original rather than just adding the new one to the list. There a list of all the ones that were altered: Edited Wednesday at 10:25 AM by Helmsly
Dcubed Posted Wednesday at 07:21 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:21 AM That's not cool. GIving you a new icon is one thing, but going out of their way to scrub Kevin Bayliss' DKC design altogether is really shitty. Smacks of rewriting history. 1
Dcubed Posted Wednesday at 07:31 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:31 AM (edited) Woah! The eShop is red now! They've changed the branding from orange to red, that's weird! Still runs like absolute butt though. Edited Wednesday at 07:32 AM by Dcubed

Dcubed Posted Wednesday at 12:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:12 PM (edited) Had a chance to try out the VGC family sharing feature. It's pretty slick. You just select the game you want to lend, the other person accepts and you're done. Nice and painless. You can only give out one game per person at a time though. So I lent @Ugh first aid my copy of AI: The Somnium Files Nirvana Initiative, while I borrowed her copy of Unicorn Overlord; but I can't give her any other games while I'm lending out Nirvana Initiative. Also, once you're playing a game you've borrowed off of someone else, any account on that system can freely load it up and use their own save files; just as if it were any other physical or digital game. You are NOT limited to just using your own account to play the borrowed game. It all works exactly like lending out a physical game, with the same limitations and all. I'm not gonna try linking any other systems until I get my Switch 2, so I won't be able to try that out yet. The obvious use-case is to link your Switch 2 and Switch 1, so that you can freely share games between them without limitations; so that's what I'm gonna do. Edited Wednesday at 12:24 PM by Dcubed

Just gotta apply your tongue to the screen. Tastes a lot better too! It's very cool that any account on the Switch can play a borrowed game. It means I don't need to be in proximity to DCubed's Switch to carry on with Nirvana Initiative (There's a reason he chose that game), I can just use UFA's. Edited Wednesday at 03:20 PM by Glen-i 1
