Caris Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I thought that this episode will only have 4 levels? To me 4 levels is not a full game worthy of a full game price. Unless im wrong of course! Hmm, source?
Jimbob Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 The thing is, back in the mega-drive era games like this couldn't be completed in 2 hours because you didn't have a save function. If you died 3 times you had to start all over again, even when you got to the baddass boss at the end of Sonic 2! That's what made games last. It did, and Sonic 2 took me 10 years to beat using Sonic. 10 years!!!. That is the longest i've ever taken on 1 single game, and i beat it via the Mega Drive collection on the GC.
flameboy Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hmm, source? he said thought and could be wrong its not like he is saying it as fact and obviously don't know for sure lol.
Ike Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 hmmm it is weird that back in they day people would pay full price for these games that could be completed in like 2 hours if not less yet now that doesn't represent value such has what we expect moved on... It's 4 Zones with 3 acts each. Possibly a 5 zone. The thing is, back in the mega-drive era games like this couldn't be completed in 2 hours because you didn't have a save function. If you died 3 times you had to start all over again, even when you got to the baddass boss at the end of Sonic 2! That's what made games last. Took me a long time to complete them when I first played them, especially with all the Chaos Emeralds, now I can beat them in under an hour. The thing I find is though is that they have a lot of re-playability.
LegoMan1031 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hmm, source? he said thought and could be wrong its not like he is saying it as fact and obviously don't know for sure lol. What flameboy said. I seem to remember reading that but i cant remember where from. Few people seem to be thinking the same as me on here so im assuming i must have read it somewhere and i ent goin mad! lol.
mcj metroid Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hmm, source? http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/news/23685/ it was actually hard to find that info.
LegoMan1031 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I am not particulary happy with the price but im probably going to be buying this anyway coz i love Sonic...
flameboy Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Well Mike I will probably buy it so you can try it out when we do Extra Life if you want!
Caris Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hmm, fair enough I thought it was a full game. I'll still get it though.
James McGeachie Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 The price is a shocker considering this is meant to be part 1 of 3, each with 4 zones each. 1200 for the whole game would be nice. 1200 for one part (suggesting 3600 in total) is not so nice. I wonder if Sega originally had an 800 mspoint price in mind but the added development time has made them push the price up to recuperate the extra cost. 1500 for the Wiiware version is completely laughable. Turns out standard definition costs more these days!
Cube Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 1200 MS points is pretty much equal to 1500 Wii Points. I wonder if Sega originally had an 800 mspoint price in mind but the added development time has made them push the price up to recuperate the extra cost. There was a leaked image before the delay which had it at 400 MS Points.
Solo Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 That price tag can fuck right off, no way. I'll wait for a deal of the week or something.
flameboy Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 what level is that mimicking? It's one off Sonic 3 isn't it?! Sure it wasn't called mad gear zone though.
Ganepark32 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 what level is that mimicking? It's one off Sonic 3 isn't it?! Sure it wasn't called mad gear zone though. It's the level on Sonic 2 before you get to the Flying Fortress. Can't remember exactly what it's called but its mimicking that very closely yet looks nowhere near as enjoyable as those levels.
Ike Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 It's the level on Sonic 2 before you get to the Flying Fortress. Can't remember exactly what it's called but its mimicking that very closely yet looks nowhere near as enjoyable as those levels. Yeah, Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2.
flameboy Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 ===== QUOTE Ganepark32 ==== It's the level on Sonic 2 before you get to the Flying Fortress. One of my fav zones out of the 3 original sonics! Also ganepark your right it doesn't look as good as the original did! Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab
ViPeR Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) So it's out October 13th for 1200 MS Points...I think the words 'fuck' and 'that' spring to mind. Will try the demo though. Considering I have bought considerable sized DLC's for Fallout, Borderlands, Left 4 Dead e.t.c, all for 800 and below. Whoever did they're pricing strategy was way off the mark. Debug Mode Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Yeah there is infact 4 3 act zones. Although there was a delay and that information was taken from the early beta before the delay, it's looking like all that's changed is aesthetics and a more thorough bug search. First area is a cross between Emerald and Green Hill zones.. A rehash of sorts. Second area is the casino area I think? Maybe third. Sonic 2 level rehash. Third area (or maybe the second) is the labyrinth level. It was originaly a Labyrinth Zone rehash but it's changed a lot and is pretty much the only original level in the game. Fourth area is the metropolis zone rehash. Full on mother fucking rehash. Final boss is basically an upgraded Sonic 2 final boss Egg Walker, pretty much the same pattern and actions until the 1st stage of its pinch mode. Idea is a rehash, the actions are a third rehashed =P Although I'm a massive Sonic fanboy, I am really unimpressed with the lack of originality. Like this is PART 4 of the original story. WHY THE FUCK WOULD DR.ROBOTNIK REMAKE EVERY THING HE HAS ALREADY DONE THAT HAVE FAILED? I'm not paying 1200 points to play levels I already have.
Sméagol Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Since I didn't really get to play the original Sonics on the Megadrive back in the day, I don't know them well (I only have Sonic 1 on VC), but I've been looking on Wikipedia, and I see Sonic 1 and 3 don't have that many stages themselves. So they aren't as overpriced as I initially thought, but still overpriced nonetheless. I still don't think I'll buy them, eventhough I think I'd enjoy them.
Jimbob Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 A complete waste of points i think, a practical re-hash of the previous 3 titles (and perhaps S&K as well).
ViPeR Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 There's probably about 12 acts to the original games so that's 3 episodes. Hmm that's about 3600 and because of the gay MS point system you'd have to buy 4000, which is £34. That's assuming it is 3 episodes. So you're looking at £35+. Should have been a full release game.
S.C.G Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I wonder if after releasing all three eps, they'll then make it a retail title anyway... if they do they won't announce it until after all three have been released digitally anyway I'd bet. So then... it's 3600 points for three mini-sized Sonic games that make one whole... released over a period of time likely to be 6 months to a year and achievements presumably totalling 600 gamerscore. A DX version disc release with extra content/achievements at a budget price isn't out of the question...
Cube Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Gah...I really hate this but I know I'm going to end up buying it as I'm a massive loser.
S.C.G Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Gah...I really hate this but I know I'm going to end up buying it as I'm a massive loser. I hear that... I'll end up buying it all on release AND the aforementioned DX disc version if it's ever created, I'm a sucker for Sonic and Sega is a sucker for our points.
