The Lillster Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 (edited) Finally, something I'm qualified for. You got the job, or just applying? Which websites do you lot use? I use monster.co.uk, direct.gov.uk/jobcentre website jobsite.co.uk what do you people use? Edited July 25, 2009 by The Lillster
Chris the great Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 starting to like my job, i got paid today to laugh my arse off at a guy saying "i never liked malteasers, there too round." made even funnier as he looks like mark from peep show.
Ashley Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 You got the job, or just applying? Which websites do you lot use? I use monster.co.uk, direct.gov.uk/jobcentre website jobsite.co.uk what do you people use? It was a joke :p (me applying, the listing itself is real). I also use reed.co.uk and gumtree.co.uk. And jobsearch.co.uk actually. That video game store manager replied asking why I left Game so I said to focus on uni (which was partially true, also because they hired a new wench who I hated) but made sure I mentioned uni was over now so I'd focus on work. At least it shows they're a bit interested...so now im waiting on more :p Although they replied at 9pm. Odd.
Pyxis Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Finally, something I'm qualified for. What if they made you sleep with women?
Ashley Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I'd be quite fine with that. But once again I reitterate, it was a joke and I'm not actually applying. I have a shred of dignity.
Pyxis Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 After seeing a youtube that Rez did, I think that gumtree is a good place for practical jokes anyway. oops, better not give any ideas...
Roostophe Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Well, desperate times calls for desperate measures. I've just filled in an onliine application for a job at...McDonalds.
Dyson Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 It's not all bad. Got a friend who works at McD's and has done for a couple of years now. Pays shit but the team he's got are decent. It'll do as a tideover. Legend guy though, been employee of the month countless times. As for me, was meant to start training today in the form of teambuilding for HMV, but it's all been pushed back a week or so for some reason. No worries.
Roostophe Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I don't expect it to be too bad, though, working at McDonald's does have that reputation of being the lowest of the low. Where people who left school with shit grades end up and all that. But a job's a job. I'll take anything if it ends with me going to the JobCentre and saying "I got a job, I'd like to sign off." Just now submitted an online application to my nearest - and most accessible - McDonald's in Sutton Coldfield. But if that one doesn't go well there's always the one in Erdington, the one in Kingstanding, the two on different parts of the fuck-off road that is Chester Road, and the four or five in Birmingham.
Kirkatronics Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 If anyones willing to travel to Barnsley, theres some apprenticeships here. For construction, minimum 3 years. Apparently most even get kept on for 7 years.
Ashley Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I think if I don't hear anything by the end of today I'll email that retail job back, but then they hardly are quick on the reply mark anywho. And I don't even know if London is a possiblity anymore. Urgh, depressing :/ Although I did see the station that arrested me are looking for a part time transcriber. Could be delicious irony.
Shorty Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 By transcriber do you mean typing up spoken recordings? If so that is painful work, I can type at an average of 85wpm and it still took me well over a day to transcribe 3 interviews (30 min, 30 min and 60 min long). And it gets really difficult when they're talking about specialist stuff or even worse, in thick accents. Never again pl0x. Speaking of employment *looks over shoulder* I should get back to work :/
Ashley Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 By transcriber do you mean typing up spoken recordings? If so that is painful work, I can type at an average of 85wpm and it still took me well over a day to transcribe 3 interviews (30 min, 30 min and 60 min long) Yeah, transcribing interviews with crims. Doubt I'll apply, but just thought it may be amusingly ironic as 3 years and 11 months ago someone was doing it for me :p
Kirkatronics Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Yeah, transcribing interviews with crims. Doubt I'll apply, but just thought it may be amusingly ironic as 3 years and 11 months ago someone was doing it for me :p What was it for?
Ellmeister Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Ask the victim, little Mike, aged 3. He'll tell you
Ashley Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 What was it for? Long story short I refunded something for a colleague for too much because he said it was x price and I didn't question it (stupid, yes im aware). Its rediculous, petty (even the police agreed) and was just the David Bowie lookalike manager venting due to her divorce. And I still say it should be voided as Woolies have now gone under anyway
Retro_Link Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 as Woolies have now gone under anyway Probably all because of your generous refund
Ashley Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Woolies was in trouble before I came along. They started their "ask customers if they need a bag" (for financial not environmental reasons), "no reciepts if its less than £2" and "only turn on half the lights" campaign before I did anything :p
nightwolf Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Haha interesting theory - Ashley causes fall of shop chain. After hearing nothing from 6 companies at meadowhall I'm going to go round town with the car and see if I can find anything else, I'd even work in mcDs as mentioned, the one back home gave £6.50 an hour, quite nice people too, which sucks ass. I definately need a job, more for my sanity than money, but the money is always nice for spending, I just wish there were more out there. I need somebody to review my c.v. though.
Dyson Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 ...pushed back again to the 18th. Not happy. If it gets pushed much further I'm gonna have to miss it out because of Reading Festival.
Kirkatronics Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Dyson, Leeds fest is clearly superior... Im going to be there!
