Win. - Paid all my rent (1575) and now I'm free! - In library. Don't want to do any revision but got nothing else to do all day. 'Cept play AC2. Mmmm... Ok that sounds like a good idea. - Gonna go book my train ticket for the weekend - Need to buy smart/casual shirt (whatever that even means) and shoes - Going to look up how to make a risotto now. I'm going to head to the sainsbury's on the Moor to see if they have any risotto rice and try and get a chunk of parmesan if I can... We need a cheese shop in sheff! Posted May 10, 2010 Risotto is awesome. The only thing is, the best Risotto IMO is made in a pressure cooker. And is coated in parmesan. Have you tried cooking the parmesan with the rice? Posted May 10, 2010 Great Yarmouth I really enjoyed the holiday/mini break. Okay so we went outside, and I was greeted by the delightful (sarcasm) sight of a baby baby bird on my car. It was sick. Like not even any eyes. Really weird. Obviously I took photos. I would say only look if you really want to. So that was nice. Then we left, and it surprisingly didn't take too long. It took about 2:40 hours. Oh...on the way there I stopped at a BP. A) Didn't have Mountain Dew. B) Some weird foreign guy pulled up along side me and ushered me over. I was like "?" he shook my hand (whilst he was in his car) and then took off his ring, hander it to me, and was like "Petrol petrol" and I was like "........Naaahhhh" and this exchange repeated several times, until I just had to walk off. So we got there, and popped around the shops first. I found several places that sold my favourite flavour ice cream (pistachio) so was uberly happy. Didn't have any yet though as I was full. I found a sweet ass M16 BB gun and bought it and then found an awesome toy shop and was shocked and overjoyed to see a brand new LEGO thing, called "Minifigures" over the course of the trip I bought like 23. They are randomly packed and there are 16 different ones. I wanted the Ninja. Badly. In the end I got every single one (obviously some of them like 3 times, or 2 times) apart from the Spaceman and the pissing Ninja. Gonna sell some on teh ebayz and get sum ninjaz. The following day we went to a place called "Yesterdays World" which is like a Victorian Period walk through museum type thing or something. It was good. And then we had cream tea. Which ruled. Quite hard. Not UBER hard. But fairly hard (quite skimpy on the jam and the cream) Also saw something that would have given Goafer an orgasm. Liked the guest book. Some person from Leicester found the museum to be "intersting" Then we saw penguins, and I found myself unable to describe them as anything other than "spicy" I was channelling Coolness. Then we went to the Pleasure Beach. Of course in between all of this we did plenty and plenty of arcades. Something strange we noticed is....time seems to have forgotten Great Yarmouth. Everywhere (literally) plays really obscure songs from 5 years ago. Like not even hugely popular songs. And like....in a gachapod I found Disneys Atlantis toys still in there. Seriously how long ago did that come out?! The following day...yesterday, we went to more arcades, I finally had my ice cream! I had Blue Bubblegum flavour and Pistachio flavour. I think it was one of the most enjoyable ice creams I've ever had. Both flavours were fucking delicious as all hell. Thus I had about 5 photos taken so I could remember me enjoying it vividly. We then played crazy golf at an indoor Hollywood themed course. It was quite make-shift but this definitely added to its charm, and they had quite a lot of nice quirky props. I enjoyed it a lot. We then went to this place called "Yankee Traveller" an American Diner. Good lord. If you're ever in GY, then you've gotta check this place out. One of the best burgers I've ever had it was delicious, and and and the chips? Good lord. I would say a solid three large burger king sized portions. Mammoth. Mega enjoyable. Just a shame there was no room for desert. We then dawdled around and went to see Hot Tub Time Machine which was very funny, as expected. There was a wind farm nearby. Oh! Also yesterday morning. I went on a fruit machine, put in £2, I won £4, and it gave me £5 in error. Then the pay and display car park machine .....I found £3 in the eject coin bit, then the thing didn't work, so had to report it and leave a note (It did theif the £3 off me though, it wouldn't return it, from the other machine) but I was still technically up as the cost was £5 anyway. So that was good. Loads of free money. We had Papa Johns twice during the stay. And finally we came back today. Just...yeah came back really. Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) Had my last exam for the semester and the academic year today. Was my main psychology module exam and for some reason, I was really freaking out about it this morning before I left for it (afternoon exam but as I have to commute). Really could not calm myself down over it. Was just so worried about it, thinking I hadn't done enough work for it. As soon as I left the house, I was fine . Just really relaxed and didn't think about the exam at all until I was actually in the hall. Was rather strange but think it ended up helping me. So not sure how I've done with it. Questions weren't as bad as the exam at christmas and I knew basically everything I needed to answer the questions. Was also super relaxed in the hall so it all came rather easily. I don't know. I don't want to get too optimistic about it. Would rather be a pessimist and be surprised should I have done well. I do hope I've done well as I've really worked hard all semester on making my coursework grades good. So that was all I've done with my day yet I'm absolutely bushed. At least I can look forward to other things this week (cinema, possibly starting my long runs again (strange to look forward to those but the weather has been good up here and I enjoyed the running) and my birthday). I asked the girl I met at the last fun. gig if she was going but can't because she has A-levels (I feel old...) so then I've asked another friend and he says not really his kind of thing. I suppose I can drag Jodie again but part of me wants to try just staying up all night buzzing around the 24 hour coffee shops (they exist...yes?) like Murukami's 'After Dark' (meeting Chinese hookers etc) but I'd imagine it would end up more like 'After The Quake'...or something. I dunno, things I could do all night in London which don't involve being stabbed? Gig is at King's College and doors don't open til 8, so by the time people get on stage and the support acts do their thing fun. won't start til about 10, which is probably around the last train home. Posted May 10, 2010 Had to sign a form today which gave my parents permission to take out a loan and buy a new house, and it also allows me to live with them (as long as the mortgage is paid, or i become homeless). In other words, it waives any rights i have to refuse to move if the mortgage is not paid. Even had to have a witness sign it as well, to make sure i had signed it. Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) Today was the last day of lessons in Gizmo's high school life. It was pretty cool. I've really been waiting for a good 2 years to have this high school thing over and done with, but the last 6 months or so have been pretty rad. I'm going to miss not seeing the same people every day. After school we went to get supplies for tomorrows official last day where we are going to the local country park for a barbeque. We bought a basketball, 3 super soakers, an awesome frisbee, and far too much vodka. We then proceeded to go play basketball, making a drinking game out of it due to the excess we had created. Then we went for pizza for dinner. When I got home I went to mix my drink for tomorrow (vodka lemonade disguised in a 2litre 7up bottle) but I made it far too strong and had to pour some into another bottle and dilute it down again. I've been drinking the excess and combiend with the drinking at basketball I'm really tipsy. I feel like I'm writing in a more exciteable way than normal so you cna probably tell. I've tried to keep the typing errors to a minimum though. TL;DR - high school is over, much booze today, much more booze tomorrow, good times. Edit: Wow, vodka lemonage is a really good drink. I have a book I used that has multiple chapters written by different authors (three for the entire book). I used a few of these chapters and listed them separately, but since some have the same author I was wondering if I needed to add an 'a' and a 'b' behind the date... Like this: Meelis-Voorma, Tonny (2008a). “Prentenboeken.” In Meelis-Voorma, Tonny, Petra Moolenaar & Harry Overmeijer (Ed.). Jeugdliteratuur voor de beroepspraktijk, 83-105. Groningen: Wolters-Noordhoff. Meelis-Voorma, Tonny (2008b). “Dierenverhalen in prentenboeken.” In Meelis-Voorma, Tonny, Petra Moolenaar & Harry Overmeijer (Ed.). Jeugdliteratuur voor de beroepspraktijk. 107-129. Groningen: Wolters-Noordhoff. Or does that only apply to different works, not different chapters? =/ I also used a book which is apparently the 9th reprint. What date do I put? My "personal tutor" hasn't had time to check any of my stuff (or anyone else's). So I've basically been left to do this on my own. =/ And since it has to be printed this week, I don't have much time left to get it all done. Hate my school sometimes. They expect us to write a huge dissertation and get everything right, but they don't teach us how to do it properly. >.<; Thanks for the help by the way. Posted May 10, 2010 My little film for my current project started taking conceptual shape today at college, which was good. TBF I have 2 entire weeks to "plan" before I even start filming it and putting it all together, but I was worried nontheless. (It's a snapshot of a world where superhero have replaced our normal religious icons) I've had a "tickly" throat for a few days (i.e not sore or hugely hacking/coughy, but I'm really aware of when I take air into my lungs etc), and tonight I blew off going to see a friend's band because I just felt worse, and now my voice is completely going. Anyway, it mostly seems right, and I'd definitely enter the two different articles as separate references as they're from an anthology and so are effectively different articles. There are a few other things that might vary depending on the particular style you're using - for instance you might want a colon after the in, and a pp. before the page numbers, but all this stuff depends on the particular house style and consistency is more important. Lol, I'm getting used to proof-reading papers. Edit: Oh, and check you don't need a full stop after the author's name. Not in the text though when I paraphrase. Wish they actually taught us how to use this stuff properly. =( If you're citing a whole book or similar (e.g. a PhD Dissertation) then you should generally put page numbers unless you're just citing an extremely general claim. For instance, if you have a book about the decline of vanilla pods, you can say, "Various researchers have claimed vanilla pods are in decline; see the references in Atkinson (2007)," but for something for specific, it has to be, "Atkinson (2007:265-267) describes the life cycle of the vanillin weevil." And if a book has multiple authors, you can only cite that book by referring to all the authors, even if you're just quoting an article within the book by one of the authors. In this case, and definitely with anthologies, you should cite the article itself, as you did. One more illustration: let's say there's a book by Peters, Abrigado and Loath. You can say, "Peters et al. (2004:243) note that in addition weevils have remarkable aptitude for solving mysteries," but if instead the book is an anthology and you're citing an article by Abrigado, it's, "By contrast Abrigado's (2004) claim that Poirot was a weevil is baseless and unfounded," with the reference citing the specific article in the book. Note that et al. is usually used for three or more authors only - with two, just list both with and.
