Dan had better watch his back! Aneres is moving in on his woman!

Except filled with other people and microtransactions. So a single-player game from hell, basically.

I just finished this today, and didn't think it was anything special. Not bad, but not especially great, either. Just sort of average and boring. It took me nearly a week to finish despite being less than ten hours long. Normally I'd finish a game this size in two or three days. The driving and shooting are both solid, but it just feels so... not special, you know? Driving around gets repetitive really quickly as you have to drive back and forth constantly to get to missions. There's no reason at all to explore, as you will have to go back to any interesting area again for a mission later. Most areas are closed until you need to go there, anyway. The light RPG elements just made me wish I was playing Fallout and when you're on a mission, you're just walking through linear hallways shooting bad guys like you do in every other shooter ever. There's little variety, nothing to interact with and every mission ends with a bad guy opening a door that leads back to the beginning of the level so you can get back to your car easily. The story is simple (blah blah post-apocalyptic world blah blah evil government blah blah resistance), but could have been interesting enough if there'd been more of it. First you do some favors for one guy before he lets you go to the next settlement, then you do some favors for another guy so he'll let you stay in his settlement, but then you save the leader of the resistance and he takes you to their hideout underneath some city and there you have to do a bunch of favors for the guy who runs that place. Characters are completely discarded once you leave an area and there's no ultimate bad guy other than 'the government', which is just as well because the ending is terrible and just seems to set up a sequel. I can't speak for the graphics on consoles, but the PC version is a mixed bag to say the least. Sometimes it looks good enough. The desert and the settlements look pretty nice... until you get too close to the textures and realize how smudgy most of them are. The graphics in the two city missions in the first half of the game (both of which take place on roughly the same map, so that's fun!) are outright embarrassing and any building more than a few feet away is a blurry mess. By far the worst thing about the graphics is how you can't even turn around quickly without textures popping in all over the place. I can only assume this isn't the case on consoles based on people saying how great-looking the game is, but any nice-looking area on the PC is quickly ruined as soon as you turn ninety degrees.

No analogue triggers: How serious is it?
Magnus replied to Hogge's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I don't care about racing games, but it'd suck to have to buy a separate controller just to play GameCube games if they ever decide to start re-releasing them. Like the Wii U doesn't have enough controllers already. -
I just realized that the name of the thread is Fallbox. That's failbox, Cube.

When all else fails, blame Kotaku!

Of course, these days something like that would get spoiled on gaming sites months before the game was even released, so you just can't win.

You're going to have to clear up another 2GB. You need 16GB to download it plus 16GB to install it. You'll get the first 16GB back once the game is installed.

I guess this answers this question.

All of Nintendo's late-generation Wii games had full-color manuals too (well, the ones I own do, anyway), and like the New Super Mario Bros. U manual they were just pamphlets, so my issue was just with how it seemed like people thought this manual was somehow better just because it had colorful picture of the world map inside, even though it's really just the same thing we're getting with most games these days. I realize most people probably just meant they liked the picture of the world map, but it bugged me anyway. :p I too kind of miss the days of the manual. I realize that companies like to save money and manuals aren't even really needed now that we have in-game tutorials and cutscenes, but they were sort of fun to flip through, you know? Just flipping through the manual for The Wind Waker and remembering all the good times. Hard to get the same nostalgic feelings reading the basic control setup for Skyward Sword. Ah, but soon everything will be digital and then it doesn't matter.
-
I'm not sure why people are so impressed with the manual. The world map looks nice, but... that's it. That's going to be the whole thing. A map, basic controls, probably some warnings about taking a break every hour. So could we all agree that the world map looks nice but manuals these days suck? :p But particularly my posts in any thread ever.

I CAN PLAY IN REAL-TIME... FOR REAL No longer will you have to pretend to play in real-time!
-
In Grand Theft Auto V? You'll probably have to wait for the next generation of consoles for that.
-
I only just finished the last bonus puzzles in Pullblox a few weeks ago, so I'm not ready for the sequel yet. I hope this game will have less puzzles that are just random shapes.
-
I guess I should prepare for a cardboard sleeve this time around too, then. :p Now that you don't even get manuals anymore, it doesn't really matter, I guess.
-
Wii Sports came in cardboard sleeve when I bought my Wii.

What's with the mix of painted and pixelated things? It looks awful.

This has been getting great reviews, but it looks so bad. I feel like I'm missing something. I kind of want to play it just because of the critical acclaim, but it looks so unappealing that I just don't know if it's worth it.

The only fun thing about dating in Grand Theft Auto was dropping your date off after a date and repeatedly running her over with your car. Sleeping Dogs attempted to make dating more fun by giving your dates a personality, cutscenes and a unique mission, but unfortunately you never heard from them again after your first date. Except for that one girl who accused me of cheating on her. I ran her over with my car too.

God knows there aren't enough sexy women in video games. Thank God for brave developers like WayForward.

I don't even know what a "Gtav" is. Sounds boring.

Yeah, this is totally going to mess up the Scribblenauts canon!

The ModNation Racers thing just seems to be an exclusive demo. InFamous 2 is still free for PlayStation Plus subscribers, so you know what to do.

That you need more than 2GB free to download the game! God, Dazzybee. Pay attention.

This isn't nearly as exciting as when you passed your CBT, but congratulations, I guess.
