Vanilla/bare bones mafias go back to basics, where essentially there's only supposed to be a couple of investigators and a killer. Most of the 'action' is during daytime phases with debates and lies and treachery.

SO I tend to avoid this thread because it's full of all sorts of spoilARS for stuff I've not decided to get into yet. But newsnight just said that marvel are killing off spiderman. Anyone want to clarify this for me?

I'll wait for the movie/documentary to change my mind from "he entertained, he died."

The film is honestly a lot more boring than the original text. The main character (blomquist?) was far too subtle. The tattoo is something that I never truly appreciated - I think there's a paragraph somehwere explaining why she got the tattoo, but I don't recall which book it's even in. In fairness none of the book titles are particularly appropriate or relevant to the subject itself. I indeed fell asleep through the original. I appreciate that lisbeth is all-round agreed to be a very accurate representation of lisbeth in the books, but generally speaking crime 'thrillers' such as this never translate great to the screen, big or small, because a lot of the narrative tends to be descriptive, or thought-led. In terms of translation the film was fairly accurate; it did not really miss much, it didn't add or derail from the story. The trailer for the americanised version is probably my favourite trailer for any movie for a while - probably because I've read the books and it was just extra familiar to me - but being able to focus on the image rather than the subtitles may lend a great deal of favour to this sort of dialogue-driven movie. I would say that if you watch Maltease Falcon, or other similar noir movies, you'll enjoy The Girl With THe Dragon Tattoo. If you don't read crime fiction (I'm still surprised it's, essentially, the best selling genre) then I don't think the scandinavian films will do much for you. It's all in the books (which truly are a great read).

In most seasons, I agree It's effectively what it's all about - promotion/relegation happen, but the report is what sets the tone for the following year. I've got a few 15+ guys again, but last season I pretty much had my worst change report ever. Neeeeed a good one!

Just to point out; many people have given it a go for even only one season. You don't have to commit massively to it - it's just worth a go, even if you don't like football. The focus is on tactics and strategy, and essentially the x11 thread is a nice little banter zone if you're into that sort of thing. I currently (due to time and laziness) put approximately 30 minutes of time into x11 a week - over the space of four days. Monday nights I set my tactics, tuesday I read the match report/post in the x11 thread here, then again thurs/fri I do the same. You can set tactics for games ahead of time too. As I say - it's worth giving a go. Ultimately it's worth the chance.

Yeah - the sort of people tent makers claim fit in their wares are a pygmy race of siamese twins or something. Essentially a two-man tent is just about the size of my bed with a cover over it.

Me or shorty? Get a uk SIM card, it'll be uk number that dials and charges at uk rates so you'll avoid international charges that you'd get on your current SIM card. The SIM card is the thing that goes in your phone under the battery, y'dig? Shorty's saying get a UK sim with £10 of credit that should cover you for the time you're here... Yeah I dunno what you don't know or if this is helpful
