Well... it's progress isn't it? He's married the woman that he loves and presumably wants to spend the rest of his life with, the actual act of 'getting married' is generally considered to be a big thing for what it represents plus the birth of your own child is supposed to be a life-changing experience. It may be true that nearly every human being on this planet has the capability to reproduce but surely that doesn't detract from it being any less special when it's your own child? Perhaps I've got it all wrong but isn't having a family of your own considered success in some way... while it may be true that potentially 'anyone' can do it, not everyone actually does, sometimes through choice and other times because they feel that they can't so I just thought that in some small way it would be considered as success. Isn't the same in Will's case? Potentially anyone could do what he did this year - got an awesome job and relocated to a different country etc - but not everyone does or it doesn't happen very often. Hmm I think this begs the question... 'how does one measure success?' because even I'm not sure anymore. :p

GAME's deal was only for a day I believe, Play's is for a week, but yeah... you'd have thought they'd have kept it slightly lower to sell more but anyway... I don't mind as £24.99 still seems well worth it to me and I can't wait to play it!
-
For anyone who has wanted this - like me - but has been waiting for the price to drop then you may want to visist Play.com pretty sharpish like, as it's currently £24.99 for one week only. : peace: http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/15517822/Need-For-Speed-Hot-Pursuit/Product.html?campaign=7896&cid=6753503&cpage=9

I ran a scan with Avira earlier, first time it found 'TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen' which was quarantined, after a restart and another scan to confirm, it found nothing the second time. I'm now gonna download Malware Bytes and Spybot though as it seems to make sense. ------------------------- Malware Bytes scan - nothing found.

I love Christmas... for the simple reason that it's a day where I don't have to leave the house or feel obligated to go anywhere, the whole family just gets to share the day together - or most of it - the food is always nice and there's plenty of Christmas spirit(s) - usually Vodka, Rum, Cointreau... - *cough* and it's... just... nice.

QFT! I seem to have been saved by safe mode this time, that and Shorty's suggestion of using system restore, it all seemed to easy though but it seems to have done the trick so... I'll be putting Malware Bytes and Spybot S&D on there though now just to be safe. --------------------------- Sidenote... I too suffer from IBS, it can be a right bitch, especially the pain gets to you right when you're trying to just get on with things - like work etc - and you kinda just have to grin and bare it. :/
-
When I load up normally, I can't do anything so I wouldn't be able to install software in that mode but possibly in safe mode, in any case, I'm trying a system restore now. *crosses fingers* hmm... restore is finished, it says that it renamed the following files in the system32 directory... atmfd.dll urimon.dll wininet.dll And it seems to be working now, hmm... that was worryingly simple to solve in safe mode but it seems to have done the trick, I think I'll update Avira and then download both Malware Bytes and Spybot S&D as you suggested.

Virus/spyware/trojan fail... Details are in this thread - http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29367 any help appreciated. *sigh* and just when things were actually going well today.

So everything was going great today, using my new Netbook which I'd been doing so for weeks now and then suddenly... 'Spyware Protection - designed to protect' comes up... And it's done all the 'scanning' bullshit where it pretends to scan your computer for spyware but is actually putting harmful stuff on there etc... has anyone else had experience of this and knows of a quick and guarenteed way to get rid of it? I can't do anything on it so I'm guessing I'd have to take it back to factory resets or something by turning it off and accessing 'something' before it boots up properly but I have no clue as to what. Any help is appreciated, thanks. *arrrrgh! I feel so annoyed right now* Also I've just realised that I've posted this in the staff section and not the tech section *sigh* I think I'll just give up now... --------------------------- Ok so I've googled a few things - I'm on my old pc right now - and I'm guessing the only real way to save my netbook would be to boot up in safe mode and then try a system restore or something similar? Safe Mode works, should I even try a system restore? Or just go with taking things back to how they were when I first got the netbook... I don't have a huge amount on there as I only started using it recently, all I would really lose is a review that I was working on - annoyingly - and I may be able to salvage that using other means.

Listening to this... Yes.

Too many to list... ... or basically I can't be bothered to atm, I'd rather actually spend that time playing the games than listing them but if you want some kind of idea, basically most of the games that are on Cube's list minus about 10 - 15 add on a handful of games which are different and one which I want but haven't got yet - Need For Speed : Hot Pursuit - but shall be picking up very shortly.

Video-link fail? Anyway... while it would have been nicer to have Super Mario All-Stars on the VC I can see why they decided to go with the - slightly more lucrative - retail disc. Heck loads of other companies are more guilty of it than Nintendo - Sega spring to mind - so while I don't blame them as much it's still slightly disappointing that they didn't just release it on the VC.

There are worse songs than 'Umbrella' but then... ...there are songs that are a lot better too. I think what annoyed me most about it was - similarly to Cube's reasoning - at the time of it playing, the radio at work was stuck on '1' and it just seemed to be horribly overplayed like a lot of pop music tends to be. However there are a good few songs from Rihanna that I actually enjoy and wouldn't tire of as easily.

*cough* http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24078&page=15 fifteen pages long at last count but yes... it did end up getting 'bumped' a good few times, though I thought it was moderately successful? anywho... maybe a merger of the two threads? and seeing as it's the run-up to Christmas, who knows... maybe a few festive recipes might be posted that'd keep the thread ticking over for a while. also I apologise for not contributing as frequently as I used to but, I'd be willing to make the effort again if others are willing to also, which people were for a good while if I recall correctly. either way, cooking is awesome and I'm just a little bit sad since I changed departments at work and as a result no longer cook there/not as often at home either as an indirect result of this... :/ but I could definitely see myself getting back into it.

I'm sorry for your loss Ash... losing a pet is always a sad time, no matter how big or small the creature, the feeling of loss is still the same.

When I was really young - about 5 or 6 I guess - according to my parents, when we were waiting in line inside a Post Office I walked up to a rather large woman and said to her... 'My... you're growing well!' I don't actually have any real recollection of it but my parents certainly do as they apologised after to the woman in question who was... less than impressed at the time. And that's basically how I learned the difference between complementing and insulting someone.

Cube as we have very similar taste in games (specifically Sonic and anything made by Criterion) plus Dr Who... and we seem to have similar views at times too. Oh, and he also likes cats.

The early SSX games were decent but I'd still rather play 1080* Avalanche than any of the recent entries. This new SSX game could be good but it just seems overly dramatic fro the sake of it, whereas the series originally didn't take itself seriously and became a better game for it.

On Cider; An Essaye Of The Cleansinge Natyure Of The Apple
S.C.G replied to ipaul's topic in General Chit Chat
Olde English is where it's at... well... I know it's maybe not the best Cider ever but it certainly seems to be one of the most consistently decent tasting ciders whether it be from can or plastic bottle, I pour it into a glass before drinking though, obv. :p Actually I haven't had cider in a while, I think I owe it to myself and this thread to purchase some! -
Hasn't this been done before - only without the unnecessary melodrama - in 1080* Avalanche?

Really? This... and anyway, in an age where most games can easily be ordered online from many reliable sites, it's not even an issue.
