Time to rejoin the league I think. : peace: IN!

Name: Nintendo XS -eXtra System - (Home Console) Nintendo XP - eXtra Portable - (Handheld) Graphical capability: Superior to Xbox One/PS4 on parity with a reasonably high-end PC (Home Console) Wii U in portable form (Handheld) Controller style: Home console has an enhanced GC controller with additional triggers, possibly similar to the patent as well(?) Portable console is a smaller gamepad with improved form factor. The gimmick: Home console base unit can function independently as a device which will play all future Nintendo games in addition to backwards compatability with Wii U software - can still pair your old game pad with it or the new handheld as an option - while everything else will be easily downloadable on the newly improved Virtual Console which will have - hopefully - every major release from NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, GB/C/A, DS, 3DS(?) you can choose which platform you want to play them on, all previous purchases linked to NNID carry over, return of MD and TG-16 games(?) new VC categories through Sega partnership including Saturn and Dreamcast. Hard drive size: 1TB SSD home console 128GB built in memory portable console Launch lineup: Zelda Wii U/NXS (NXS version will be superior), Metroid X (home console) Super Metroid DX (portable console), Super Mario Universe (home console) Advance Wars: X (portable console), some crappy Ubisoft filler title which will fail to meet expectations in some way - it's tradition! -, Resident Evil main title, Super Smash Bros Ultimate Edition (port for both consoles) amiibo title. No. of Bundles available at launch: Bundles of home console or portable with Metroid games, bundles of both with mario and zelda, mega bundle with both consoles and all nintendo games. Price: £199.99 Home console, with a game £129.99 Portable console, with a game, £429.99 for Both consoles with All Nintendo games, other bundles somewhere inbetween. Release date: November 18th 2016 I'll be amazed if any of this comes true but, I thought it's worth guessing just to see. : peace:

It will be nice when something solid is actually announced. Speculation is all well and good but it only seems to lead to unrest due to the uncertainty of it all. At this point it doesn't feel like much fun and I'm usually one for finding enjoyment in discussing what may or may not become reality. Personally I think it's likely that Nintendo will end up surprising us all again in an unexpected way but hopefully in the sense that it will be a pleasant surprise which many of us will be able to appreciate even if it doesn't end up pleasing everyone, which is an unrealistic aim anyway. One thing is for certain, 2016 will be a year to remember in gaming. : peace:

While I can understand Nintendo wanting to retain an image which is faithful to the original, I suppose it would be nice to have the option of removing the filter... Though I don't think it's caused me too many issues yet, certainly not on the TV screen anyway; I'm just happy enough to have some 60Hz N64 games finally at my disposal. : peace:

I do want the keyrings, they will be displayed at some point and any doubles I do get will be used as gifts probably... it just annoys me that Nintendo know people who are going for the Smash set will probably just be pre-ordering Lucas on his own, so will have to take the extra charge, unless they were planning on buying an Animal Crossing amiibo as well. The case was considered as an option but, they are just for displaying one single amiibo figure, plus the case would take up space for placing more figures, if I was going to have just one amiibo in a case though it would definitely be Shovel Knight so I will consider the case for next time if applicable. : peace: Just happy to get my pre-order in though, there shouldn't be shortages but you just don't know... several have sold out over the Christmas period still to be restocked, anyway got mine secured.
-
Lucas pre-order get! And a load of Keyrings to bump the price up to £20 so I don't have to pay any shipping... I've almost run out of different keyrings to buy on there now. All this in the name of amiibo acquirement. Oh well, Lucas is worth it! : peace:

RIP David Bowie Such a talanted musician and all-round individual. It's strange... we were going to put Labyrinth on in the living room on Blu-Ray only weeks ago but didn't, I have a feeling that it will be watched tonight, it just won't be the same though.

All of them hopefully. It might sound virtually insane but I have no plans on leaving the site any time soon unless my life plans change significantly which is highly unlikely. For the entire time I've been signed up to the forums here I've always been staff, before that I lurked for a good while as I can remember discovering the site when searching for Nintendo news back in the N64 days, but I tended to visit more regularly when the site become Cube-Europe, then there was a recruitment drive for new staff writers and the rest is history. N-europe is genuinely the first website opened on my browser first-thing in the morning and the last place I sign-out of before I turn off my computer at night. I just can't imagine not having it as part of my life anymore... ...which I think is a good thing. : peace: Over the years I've had the pleasure of working alongside some fantastic people and even more recently N-Europe has become bigger so I'm getting the chance to work with many more equally talanted people as well. But lets not forget the very forum itself which I genuinely believe is a fantastic place - despite the odd rough patch we've had here and there in certain threads - which has brought about some mostly excellent discussions about things not just Nintendo but Sega, Sony, Microsoft and everything inbetween in general chit chat. Indeed this forum is directly responsible for broadening my interests in Music, films etc in addition to games, I wouldn't be listening to Joanna Newsom right now for the hundredth time as I type this for one thing in addition to other excellent artists, I've been actively trying to watch different films as well such as The Third Man which has become one of my favourite films I've ever had the pleasure of watching, I'm into Game of Thrones thanks to the thread creating a buzz around it in its early days.... just things like that really. It's always good to see the community coming together through the good times and bad as well, I feel as if I've made many friends on here which isn't something I consider to be an easy thing in reality, as a result of hearing about other members life experiences I've tried to take myself out of my usual comfort zone as well, sometimes with mixed results but... that's what life is about I suppose. I suppose I'd just like to say "Thank You" to this phenomenal site and everyone who makes N-Europe what it is. Anyway, with that... back to writing more reviews I go.

Apart from this, your lovely controller redesign would be perfectly functional. I would think that at least traditional Start/Select buttons would be required as unless you were to remap that function to another button, I think it would render the ability to select Game A Game B and Game C in certain NES titles on the VC useless as the select button seems to be required for those; I'm sure I can remember pressing Up or Down on the D-Pad many times to select these game modes and then remembering... oh yeah, the Select button. Aside from that, it's a controller which I would use without hesitation. : peace:

Good to hear that lots of people on here are having fin on this game. Hopefully I might be joining in soon, thanks to @Fierce_LiNk and @Eenuh for selling me a spare disc copy of the game for a fair price. I've got a bit of time off work now, so when the game arrives I'll see if I can get on for some games. : peace: Time to redeem my 12 month Playstation Plus code I think, will be nice to use it for some online gaming for a change and not just to nab Plus games each month.

Every time a thread bump... ...every time an inevitable disappointment. Just as well I decided to go back to playing the original PSO on the Gamecube. : peace:

ra/la... hmmm Raichu? Lapras? I've no idea.
-
Kirby and Pixel consoles? Do want! Hurry up with them Japan, I want my chance to snag them. 167 badges or something... still not a penny paid.

Happy Birthday to both of you fine gentlemen.

I would be completely OK with Nintendo packaging an ultimate controller out of the box which has everything you could possibly want with games being supported with it first and foremost to keep things simple for the average consumer. But then also having alternate control schemes which support all the older controllers - which we as more seasoned gamers would be aware about - plus have ways to either support a Gamepad or portable device with a screen for backwards compatibility with Wii U/Wii. Oh plus it should be able to support Gamecube controllers as an option - for the Gamecube VC games obviously which will surely happen when the console comes out of beforehand in the Wii U's last year - but the average player can opt to use the standard out of the box controller, that's even if they even bother with VC games... unthinkable I know but a lot of people who have been 'gamers' for a long time don't even know that there is a Virtual Console on the Wii U/3DS or that there even was one on the Wii! Then again I suppose Nintendo really should have been pushing the Virtual Console as a selling point waaaaay before now... I swear I'm the only person who even buys Nintendo Points cards at my place of work, they're almost on the verge of being phased out in our store! So yes... whatever happens, I definitely want to see some decent Virtual Console support with more available platforms - bring back TG-16 games! - including more obscure platforms as well, Sega Saturn would be perfect for instance; oh and obviously we need proper accounts which merge with all of your existing Nintendo network purchases etc so that if the worst happens you don't need to go to huge lengths to regain access to the digital games which you have already paid REAL money for. Otherwise... Anyway, let's just wait and see... I don't want to say that my above hopes and wishes are going to be completely crushed at this early point but... well, we'll see; I still have faith but I don't like these times of uncertainty.

Give us an update later on to let us know how many Tom's you have raided and whether or not they were obliging. In all seriousness though, are you playing Tomb Raider Definitive Edition? If so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it, I'm currently playing it but on the Xbox One as it was free with Gold, only reacently got back into it though, but hopefully I'll be playing the sequel within the week as I've had it since launch.

Good man! I'm personally looking forward to the day my Super Smash Bros. amiibo set is complete, then I'll only have to buy the ones from the series that I really love. Obviously buying the Twilight Princess amiibo, Starfox ones if they release Peppy and Slippy - or god help us, the whole team even though we've already had Fox and Falco in the Smash set - and of course any Metroid or F-Zero amiibo figures; but who am I kidding? We'd need the games to go with those first.

Which receiver is it? - if you don't mind my asking - I'd imagine it must be costing you around £40 to post it each time even at flat-rate insured postage, possibly more... these receivers tend to be rather weighty, mine is on the bottom shelf of a plastic shelving unit - believe it or not - and it's what keeps the rest of it balanced, just as well as my PS4 and Xbox One are on the shelves above it; my Nintendo consoles and retro machines are kept on another stand naturally. If you want me to capture screens for stuff in the meantime, let me know as I intend to get more into using my capture device, obviously I'm limited to the games which I own but I'll help if I can. Also, that's some set-up! I can understand why you're so frustrated at not having the main component which brings is alltogether at your disposal, as I said before I really hope they get it sorted for you this time though, if they can't fix it then surely they owe you a brand new one instead if it's under guarantee?
-
I'm sorry to hear about your AV receiver @Dcubed really I am. After having a receiver of my own for what feels like an age and a decent set of speakers, I can't imagine what it would be like living without it, the only time anything has gone wrong is my sub-woofer needed a capacitor replacing and very rarely my AV unit turns off and on for a split-second - because of the type of on/off switch it has most likely - but no real problems apart from that. Is it costing you much each time you send it away? Or is it under guarantee? I know it's not just that but the hassle of sending it and being without it... I'm guessing it's a unit that you can no longer buy? My particular unit is no longer manufactured I think though it has had successors... Would it cost much to replace? I know mine would be a few hundred easily, I used to have it insured for the first five years but not any more. Anyway, none of this is particularly useful I suppose, just thought I'd try to put across the fact that I possibly have some depth of understanding to your situation, I just hope that they are able to fix it for you properly this time I really do. : peace:

My New Years Resolution? 720 X 480 @60Hz It is related though because I have vowed in the 2015 Activity Log thread to play more games. Which for me means in addition to all my modern consoles I'll also be playing on my Nintendo Gamecube more - hence the resolution - which will mostly entail playing more Phantasy Star Online, amongst other games as well. : peace:

I've experienced online gaming with dial-up on my Dreamcast, dial-up AND broadband on my Gamecube, then Broadband all the way through the 360 era up until around a year or two ago going into the PS4/Xbox One/Wii U era when we finally got fibre broadband which is currently sitting comfortably at just over 73MB download with just over 21MB upload speed. Being that just before the upgrade we were way down to speeds of less than 1.5MB... I could not imagine going back to anything close to that now, even though I know it would be fine for online gaming. It's the download speeds mainly, being able to download 20GB games in as many minutes feels like black magic to me after having to wait nearly a whole day tow download a quarter of that previously If you don't intend on downloading many games though, the speed should be fine. : peace:

It gives new meaning to the "Final Day" labels on the Majora's Mask badges. Oh well, no more for me, I got the five mask set with the Fierce Deity mask so that will have to do, damn practice catcher wasn't kind so no free goes for me. And I'm not paying for any... even though I sort of want to... but not really. You'll never take my Real money rabbit! :awesome:

I'm sorry to hear that you seem to be having a rough time lately @Animal it really sucks that anyone who calls themselves your friend would do that without any explanation. Best wishes to you and your best friend as well, I hope things look up for you soon, you always seem to be so decent around others it's only right that you should have some goodness in your life.

The Amazon deal sounds like a fair enough price for the console, that size hard drive and Star Wars Battlefront. As for Plus... not sure, I think you can share it on the same console... that might be Xbox Live Gold though... pass. If you're going to be playing the PS4 a lot more in 2016 which I'm sure you both will be then... go for eeet! : peace: It's either that or buy an Xbox One for the same price in order to play Rise of the Tomb Raider early plus play some other exclusives but really... Tomb Raider will be multiplatform soon so if Playstation is your main platform then you really can't go far wrong with each having your own console. :awesome:
