Should Nintendo have stuck with the Wiimote? (Th'rip)
Retro_Link replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Gaming Discussion
--- That's what the Pro Controller offers, there wasn't need for another controller still. --- But anyway, I'm just expressing an opinion. I think Nintendo were really on to something with the Wiimote, it was unique and fantastic for FPS (Goldeneye/COD/Dead Space), brilliant for sports games (Wii Sports/Tiger Woods), for puzzle (Boom Blox/Zack&Wiki), party games, for 'strategy' games like Pikmin/Little Kings Story, and brought an extra dimension to games that otherwise might have controlled in a more traditional way like Mario, Resi4, Metroid etc... Nintendo could have refined the controller and maybe added a trigger button on to the Wiimote and Nunchuck who knows... I just think constantly shifting focus isn't necessarily the best thing for them to do. I'd personally rather they'd refined the Wiimote and delivered a more powerful console with the Wii U. -
Maybe Nintendo should have re-thought exactly what they wanted to offer with their console. IMO moving the focus away from the Wiimote and on to yet another controller has been a bit of a mistake. Who knows, if they'd stuck with their control scheme the Wii U may have received Tomb Raider and other such games that apparently are not on the console because devs feel they need to implement the GamePad into the experience. I also think ports like RE: Revelation would have come with RE4 style Wiimote controls. The GamePad seems to be providing devs with reasons to not do a lot of things, where as I think Nintendo showing faith in and building upon Wiimote controls could have done more for the console.

That must have been Gamesmaster with Patrick Moore?

The girl with "weird mystery stains" on her top [... oh yeah ]

Totally agree. He's got his leg up, studs up, you've got to be thinking of other players on the pitch. Whether he meant it or not it was dangerous. I don't think it's an unfair decision.

Pass. Time for me to go spoiler free on this one. Only 2 months to go!!
-
Take IGN out of it then. I certainly wouldn't listen to a newspaper when it came to games reviews.
-
You'd take the views of Metro newspaper over IGN?

Been getting that long message after posting again... the one about if you'd like to post a poll. Also saves not working properly again, and it just double posted my post.

I'm not really familiar with the franchise at all, though I've heard of it before. This reinvention sounds like it may have been kicked into gear by Dishonoured... as the concept sounds and looks very similar!

They look like the stupid Lizard design from The Amazing Spider-Man; too human looking.
-
Not sure why there's no eShop version given the potentially younger audience, but still. 4 Player co-op is nice. The Turtles however look stupid. I'm not sure why any developer would not go for a cartoon/animated style when developing a turtles game but anyway.

Well the video review said they enjoyed Lord of Shadows, that this game making you use the circle pad wasn't the best design, and in terms of the characters, by the time your comfortable using one and their move set it's on to the next one. The castle seemed oddly empty at times, enemy repetition was high which is unusual for the series and that the castle was broken up into odd parts that made navigation to previous area overly difficult. To me it sounded like someone who knew a lot about all entries in the series and this wasn't a good one. But still, I'm sure there's something to be got out of the game.
-
@Captain Falcon, did you watch the video review? To me it didn't sound a biased opinion. More one based on a broken game that didn't know what it was trying to be. BTW... is the 'Mirror' aspect still in the game that was supposed to use the 3DS camera's?

Whedon says not thinking of Planet Hulk... Bit of a relief.

This would seem a really strange decision! OK so the third game may have been a mistake in terms of direction and I think it sold badly, but that doesn't mean the 4th game or something could have gone back and changed this, making it the scariest yet! Did they finish the story off significantly enough in the third? Surely it's too strong a franchise to let go; I'm sure annoyingly for fans of the story/series so far, there will be a reboot in a few years time! :p

They at least say they enjoyed the music. :p

IGN were having a discussion and said that instead of a Justice League Movie, maybe the next movie should be a 'World's Finest' Batman-Superman Movie. I think this would be a much better way of breaking in the two franchises, having the very grounded real world Batman, now having to come to terms with the alien Superman in his world. And it would no doubt be one of the highest earning movies ever. A Bale, Cavill movie would be immense! And a superhero duo movie is one that hasn't been done my Marvel either, so it would be something different. Then go on and do and the solo Flash, Wonder Woman movies or whatever, and then Justice League.
