Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Could be down to the Fire Emblem success. Still, shocking. It's one of the games @Eenuh and I were massively into when we first met. I think we can safely say that 1080 is probably the one out of that group that is the least likely to happen. I can't imagine there would be a massive or big enough audience for that, whereas there could well still be for an F Zero-game. Not sure we'll see Wave Race again, either. I'd love all 3. -
Utterly dreadful from United. Chelsea completely outdid us in every area of the game and fully deserved to win by such a massive scoreline. We were spineless, gutless and we lacked a plan. I honestly don't know what United were trying to do today. The pattern of play seemed to go "knock the ball out wide to Valencia, cross it in, Ibra fouls his man" every single time. It wouldn't be so bad if Valencia was a player like Hazard who could actually play with both feet... Pogba is making things very difficult for himself. When you're playing in a United shirt, the least you can do is try. He barely accelerated beyond walking pace today and all he did was pass the ball 3 or 4 metres to his left and right, if that. Didn't win any tackles, didn't really create chances, didn't have any shots, didn't do any defensive work, didn't help out either Herrera or Ibra. With more performances like that, the fans will turn against him before Christmas. At this moment in time, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal AND City are all miles better than us. We won't be finishing anywhere near the top four if we continue to play like this.

Oh god, has Advance Wars finally been relegated to that group of "games which we'll probably never seen again"? Can't believe the 3DS didn't get one. -
Transformers: Devestation (PS3/PS4/360/XONE)

This was free on Plus recently and I have to say that I'm absolutely LOVING it. It's like being a kid again. I'm in love with the visuals and sound design. Also helps tremendously that the game doesn't try to do anything too complex; it's exactly what you want from a Transformers game. -
After seeing several people mentioning Virginia (think they were @Ashley, @Goafer and @Ganepark32), I decided to get it off PSN because it was under the 10 quid limit. My sweet spot. Previously, I knew nothing about it and just went into it completely blind and not knowing what to expect. I LOVED it. It's unique. There isn't an actual lot that the player does and it very much reminds me of Everybody's Gone To The Rapture in that sense, which is a game that I loved anyway. I adored how there wasn't any dialogue and the soundtrack was an absolute masterpiece. It's an unusual looking game and is a bit all over the place with the way that it's cut and pieced together, but I found that to be really interesting. It won't be to everyone's taste. Straight afterwards, I had to head online to read people's interpretations of the game because it doesn't spoon-feed you anything. Overall, I had a great time with it and can see myself giving it another playthrough soon. Very glad that I bought it. There's one bit which I just wanted to get out of my seat and start applauding:

I don't see this as changing the way everybody is going to play games forever. I still think the console under the tv is going to exist and be a big attraction for many. People want to be able to play with top of the line technology and movie-style graphics, visuals and sound. On top of that, consoles do offer a lot more than that outside of gaming, with bluray and streaming capabilities, etc. But, what I do think it will do is cement Nintendo's position in the market. They may not be the "main" choice, but they will provide a very attractive alternative option. Maybe the way forward is to have a Switch + either a gaming PC, PS4 or XboxOne? This will be significantly more powerful than the 3DS, so I see it as a better alternative than that. You could easily market this as something that could sit alongside a console you already own, rather than replacing it. It basically ticks all of the right boxes for Nintendo because they obviously care about portability, so this has that. But, it also has that presence in the living room, it's powerful technology and can be used in a variety of different ways. -
We need a Mario Cricket, brah.

FIFA 13 was awful! It was one of these ideas that seemed great at the time but was quite jarring. Having to keep looking at the screen and back up again became disorientating after a while. The difference in the visual quality of the game you saw on the big screen coupled with what you saw on the WiiU pad also made it feel like you were playing two different games at one point. The actual game didn't even play like 13 on other systems...it was closer to 12. I imagine EA will be quite wise with this one and won't bother with 17. I'm curious to see how they approach it. Alarm bells will start ringing if we get the PS3 version of 17 when others get 18 or something stupid like that.

3D World looked and felt pretty great, imo. But, it seemed to be lacking something that would keep me hooked all the way to the end. It looked lovely, it sounded nice and it was smooth. It's very clinical. For me, I personally loved the level/hub design of both Mario 64 and Sunshine. Running around Isle Delfino was great. I almost feel that 3D World was too self-contained. A sequence of levels that weren't quite woven together in a way that I liked.

Neither. Try "making it obvious what the console is/does through its name, tag-line and marketing". -
I saw Ross Noble yeeeear ago. 2005, I think? He was hilarious. I remember my stomach and face hurt afterwards from laughing so hard. This thread is now about Ross Noble.

September, I think. It would be pointless rolling out FIFA in March. From a consumer point of view, you'd be buying a product midway through a season. The main selling point of FIFA is that it aims to replicate that weekly Premier/football league experience. Assuming the Switch comes out in March, then you'd barely have 4 months with it before the season is over. EA would make very little profit on this one before rolling out FIFA18. FIFA18 has to be the same version as the other consoles. It can't be some special/lesser version. It has to be the real deal, the same as what everyone else gets. Portable FIFA could actually be a huge selling point if it's the same version that you play on the PS4/One.

You could make something cheesy about it switching between a home console and a handheld. Switch it up! Or something. Could reference how the console can be transformed by taking off the joy-cons. -
Hmm. That could just be them wanting to confirm both titles on their own terms. A self-preservation thing.

What's this about NBA being unannounced?

Oh no, are we using Brexit terminology now? Could this be...Nexit? -
I agree with everything you said, @Hero\-of\-Time. I'm not massive on handhelds to begin with, so for me that's half of the purpose of the unit that's irrelevant to me right away. The more I think of this, the more I see that it has in common with the WiiU. It seems like this is what the WiiU was aiming to be, or rather the WiiU was a stepping stone to the Switch. I wasn't sold on the WiiU's concept and I feel very similar this time around. I will say that the video they showed yesterday was a million times better than the one they used to reveal the WiiU. I'm glad that they've put that branding to bed and are starting fresh. But, to me, the same old problems still exist. Seeing that huge list of developers is all well and good, but talk is cheap. I question over why we were shown Skyrim yesterday and I've already made my thoughts know about that in THE REAL NX THREAD. I'm curious to see what kind of support this system gets. Will we be able to play the next Tomb Raider, Skyrim/Elder Scrolls, FIFA, Battlefield, etc? For me, nothing has changed. Every single feature that was shown yesterday was seemingly already known about or hinted at months ago anyway. So, it just feels like confirmation of stuff we already knew about. There are no secrets any more thanks to the Internet. I'm tempted to play the long game with this and wait until we're at least 18 months into the console before analysing where things are. Nintendo's last two consoles haven't been great for longevity. I haven't seen anything yet that's made me think that's about to change.

The system is being marketed at being able to quickly jump between playing a game on home to playing it on the go. Having to copy your game data/save states from a hdd/ssd in the dock to the console/Switch and do that repeatedly would work against that concept. It would slow things down and would get in the way of what Nintendo are trying to achieve. For me, there's a huge question mark over patches and game data. If there is a share button, those saved images and videos will have to go somewhere. I've saved tooooons of images during my latest playthrough of The Last of Us and the amount quickly adds up - and that's without videos. Patches take up space, videos and images take up tons of room and that's before even accounting for save data. -

To assume is to make an ass out of you and me. Testing the waters is fine and it's better for Bethesda to include the game than not at all. But...the game will have been out for 5 months on other systems by the time it releases on Switch. Actually, it's worse than the Arkham City scenario because this is a remaster of a game from last gen. I question whether it's the right game to focus on in such an important trailer. Imo, it needed to be something that would be new for the time, something that will still be fresh on release. The only way third parties will get gamers to buy their products is if they respect their audience. Sure, add Skyrim. But you're wrong when you say there's not a reason why it may not sell, because there will already be multiple systems out there that have a 5 month head start on this version. That will surely impact sales. Testing the waters using Skyrim is setting everyone up for a fall. It's definitely a two-way street. Gamers want good value for money and the latest releases. Will the next Red Dead game appear, for example? GTA? Will the latest FIFA, and the next one, and the one after that?
