I read the first post, and I'd like to say that many, myself included, when first seeing the DS had thoughts of "it's just going to be a gimmick" spring into my mind. However, look at the DS now. Just keep the faith However, that said, I am yet to buy the Wii, due to the fact that so far there have been no deal breaker games (I got Zelda on the Gamecube). Although I'm sure Smash Bros, and Super Mario Galaxy will be enough to make me, and many others, buy a Wii. On that note, is Smash Bros still on for a Spring release? I hear that Galaxy has been delayed till Christmas ;(

Or more likely, he's just to placate the Wii fanboys that have been crying how he hates Nintendo, and how he is always too harsh to Nintendo games. However, doing this, and giving an exaggerated score, his integrity as a reviewer again comes into question. That said, he might of just really enjoyed it

While maybe not for you, there are people such as the guy martinist mentions who "turn out a right ass hole, and a right norb now." But then that's the same with everything I suppose. Some people have strong addictive reaction to cigarettes, where as some only smoke casually. However, thinking about it, I've changed my mind on the issue, and if I could. I would vote no. My reasons? Well, if it was legalised then money generated from it would go to a more worthwhile cause, instead of the shady things it goes onto fund. Plus, if it is legalised, then nobody is forcing those who don't want it to have the drug. Me, I'd say these people are fools to smoke it, but hey, that's just my opinion, and I'm not one to stop being people doing or smoking what they want. If it fudges them "upside the head" I don't care, the onus and repercussions are on them. However, that said and done, the NHS is the one who ultimately pays the price, which in turn, as a taxpayer, I'd be paying for. So... legalise all drugs and privatise the National Health Service? Let fools do what they want with their drugs and if they end up dead, then well it's their fault. However, that is taking the view that people who are taking the drugs, want to take them. Of course with issues like peer pressure, and mis-education then I would feel bad for those people who took the drugs and screwed themselves up.

No, I'm just saying there isn't so large a proportion. I mean loads and loads of people drink alcohol and there isn't a ginourmous amount of alcoholics. A big number, but not very big when looked at in proportion to the total amount of drinkers in the world I base my opinions and thoughts I suppose mainly on the education I have received throughout my years of schooling. I read all the leaflets etc, maybe they all lie, but I think there has to be a good reason why it is not legalised here. Right? However, for those pro legislation, a good place to look at would be Amerstam. Did it work there? I would be interested to know what actual affects it had on the place.

Cannabis is illegal because it is bad, and can be extremely detrimental to ones health correct? And I know you could bring up smoking and such, but I don't think the truth about smoking was known at the time of it being introduced, and as such the economy has now built up too much of a dependence upon the money it brings in, that it would be crippling to make it illegal. And on the topic of alcohol being legal, well alcohol is OK, as long as consumed sensibly, plus I'm pretty sure it's not inherently addictive, where as Cannabis is extremely addictive and isn't OK even when used in a small amounts. Those are my thoughts.

FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...
|Laguna| replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Wow, I applaud you, you must have more time, or more likely, much more commitment than me. I tend to not be able to stop myself when I see games at cut prices, regardless of I need them. But then again, how would one define a game as complete, for example, I would say you haven't completed Super Mario 64 till you get all the stars and see Yoshi at the top of the castle. Anywho, back to Fire Emblem. It's a fantastic game, but I just can't stand letting my characters die, I mean they're gone forever! So I take a lot of restarts which can get frustrating after a while, but then again, this just shows the superb characterisation within the game, so to the extent that you actually care whether they live or die. -
FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...

Agreed. As I get older I find myself having less and less time for actually completing games. Finishing a game once is an achievement for me, let alone 15 bluddy times! Plus, with YouTube available nowadays, you can probably watch the ending there and save yourself the effort and chore of completing it fifteen times. -
Shop around and you will be able to get them for cheap. Lots of places are trying to get rid of old Gamecube stock. I recently bought one from Direct4Games (which oddly contained all Spanish instructions) for £10, but unfortunately they're no longer listed them.

Yay, got mine today Not playing till Christmas though

Yay! After hearing news of some shops enquiring to customers if they still wanted to fulfill their pre-orders, due to the extreme limited stock of GC TP, it was with great pleasure that Game was " delighted to let you know that your Preorder for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be with you shortly. The order will be despatched by your chosen delivery method in time to reach you for the morning of release." That said, the little beaut won't be played until Christmas.

Fecks sake. This is ridiculous, just look through/buy some of the magazines you're thinking of subscribing to (e.g. ONM, NGamer, n.Revolution), and then, here's the kicker, subscribe to the one you like best. You don't really need the advice of people here, as everyone has a different opinion, and situation. For example, those who own over two consoles may say GamesTm is awesome but then if you only own one console then 75% of the magazine will be pretty much redundant. So just go with what you like. Simple.

StarFox Adventures. Then Rare got sold to Microsoft, so no more Rare gamecube games

On topic, I'd gave her 8/10, a favourable review indeed.

Charlotte Church?

Awesome. I will go ahead and preorder Wii + Zelda then. Yay

This is an odd question I know, but would it be possible to play the Wii in bed? I ask this because I have a nice lil TV opposite my bed which I like to play my games on, and for the GC era, it's worked like a dream. But after seeing the slashy slashy nature of Zelda on the Wii, I was curious as to if it would be possible to properly playing in a kind of propped/prone position. Thank You

There is hope yet, but I do wish they will again give a warning, so people who really want it are prepared.

I missed out, had to dash to a lesson quickly at 9.37, and when I checked the site at 9.45, it had all gone. :( I presume that was my last chance up in flames.

Nobody else staying up till midnight just to make doubley sure like me? EDIT: Lame, so they told the truth about it being at nine this morning.

^Just wanted to say thanks. A very good, true post in my opinion. I have always maintained the stance that in life it is surely better to do a job which you enjoy, instead of having amassed lots and lots of wealth, simply because you'll have missed out/not enjoyed a lot of your life in doing so. Well, that's how I want to live anyway.

So I have just decided that I do indeed want a Wii, but I seem to have come a bit too late, with all the hype and preording malarky. So my question to you is, where should I pre-order it and have a realistic chance of getting it on launch? I know Amazon have yet to start taking preorders but due to the popularity of the place and the product, I am in no doubt that the alottment of Wii's will be gone in an instant.
-
Heh, not a bad idea actually as I mean even if something goes wrong and you get both orders, you can always sell one one eBay and probably make a profit if the demand is great enough.
-
Wow, surprised at the number of Gameplay orders. I'd of thought many people wouldn't be content to wait till a day or two later than release to get their order. Plus the ever present danger of the "Out Of Stock, will deliver in 2-4 weeks" Plus, I thought many a people on this site would be all up for the old midnight launch extravaganza. I think I remember on the old C-E boards, the amusing tales of the midnight launch. I remember one guy wrote a poem about it . Me? I think I will do a midnight collection from Game. Their prices can't differ that much from GamePlay as they are selling at full price. Oh, and good to see you back Stocka:)

Can I just ask what may be considered a dumb question, if it is I apoligise for my ignorance, but why does Al-Qeada and the Bin Laden bunch dislike the Jews? I understand the animosity towards the Americans but I noticed him berating the Jews in one of his videos which was shown in one of the 9-11 anniversary programmes.

Yeah well... my computing teacher is going to be Iraqi. Beat that :P On another note, I am poop dead scared about my results. I just hope I achieve the grades needed to get into my Sixth Form (9 Bs). I know they aren't very important in the long run, but for me, they are a stepping stone, but nonetheless, a stepping stone I could very easily slip and crack my head on...
