And so the debate continues... Haha, maybe so. I stated my academic background as justification, not in an attempt to boast. Like how one might say, excuse the bad example, I go to chess club a lot so I'm good at chess. I admit, perhaps I am somewhat elitist, but to that I say, "meh". We all have faults within ourselves, and I’m sure that everyone in the world has a little niggley subject in which sturss an element of elitism deep within even the most modest souls. And make note, as the issue raised (I forget what it was now, something about single-format magazines), is just something which niggles away at me and perhaps bring about some airs and graces within me. The "I'm sure you will go far in life with such an elitist attitude." is rather misplaced. I assume from my text you have wrongly presumed that I seem to have these airs and graces constantly through my day-to-day life and that I'm one of those "uber-clever and thus uber-arrogant" chaps. Well, I'm afraid to say, despite your perceptions I am not. Far from it my friend, I know those types of people and they too get on my tits/wick end, I just do not hope that you have perceived me to be "one of them". A example being today, before my big Biology exam, I hear one person stating how "exams are so fun and sooo easy, and how they better be harder than the last one as that was so boring, I finished it within two seconds and it was a piece of piss etc etc" I, will probably not go too far in life. I am just an average B student fellow, except in I.T, Drama, and History, my specialist subjects which I'm sure everyone has some of. Note not English, but, as you brought up, I am considering continuing studying it as I enjoy it nonetheless despite my shortcomings. As you stated my grammar ain't so hot, I use far too many commas. A habit I gained from an early age when I realised what they were. Anywho (I know it's not a word, but I feel it should be. If it isn't and you try and criticise me on it, which you have done previously, take it that I am using Neologism) It was a mighty fine time discussing such issues with you, I feel it was far more stimulating for the brain than Brain Training, despite hurtling extremely far off topic. I hope we can put our differences beside each other and I profoundly apologise for upsetting you or others in any shape or form. However, remember they are just mere opinions. I wish we could settle our differences, perhaps over something like a nice ole game of Mario Kart? In an interesting twist back on topic. Do you not find that Edge has very much the same flaws as the ones you proclaim I have. I specifically think that too often they use a word in which a far simpler one would suffice. I also find, to coin a phrase frequently used throughout this post, that Edge constantly give themselves airs and graces, and demonstrate a severe case of arrogannce. However, despite these minor irratations, it is still generally a good read.

In a way, I think this injury could be a blessing in disguise as England may start playing 4-5-1, which would allow Lamps and Gerrard to have freedom, without worrying about tracking back. Then Hargeaves in the holding position Talking of Hargreaves, kudos to the guy. Always been a backer of him and he showed that he's the most competent holding player we have last night.

Wow, time of the month? O.K. I didn't think I used very complex vocabulary. What words do you have a problem with? unattainable?, progression?, multitude?, accursed?, propaganderous? (not a word I know, so sorry) I mean I'm sure most people can read and understand the get the general gist of it. And secondly, I think it's incredibly stupid of you to think I wrote such words to try and "appear more intelligent than everyone else ". One, what would the point in that be? I have nothing to prove, or nobody to better on these here forums. And two, I mainly use such complex vocabulary as I am probably going on to do English for A-Level and I attend a grammar school, so articulating in a complex manner has practically been crowbarred into me. I try and integrate more complex words into my daily life (credit to Google homepage word of the day) as it offers more preciseness of expression, and more primarly, better marks . Do you really think when typing that post I was thinking "Mwahaha, I will type with an advanced vocabulary so to make myself look more intelligent than the others :hmm:" Maybe be you have a inferiority complex? :p I think it's rather ridiculous (sorry if this long word offends you, but) not that you criticise my point (fair enough) but that you belittle my views by patronising me and getting personal. That's not the right way to win an argument my friend, that’s the way to lose one. "Perhaps when your grow up a bit more (you're 16 according to your profile), gain a social life and find other things to spend your time and money on, you will realise this." I think that's a rather harsh judgement seeing as the are many fellow 16 year olds on here, who probably do not appreciate it when told to "grow up". I'm sure when you were 16 you didn't appreciate people telling you to "grow up" when you said something which conflicted another persons view. But firstly on your above point. There is no way that you can know anything about me or whether or not I do have a social life or whether I spend my money only on videogames so I think it’d be wise that you refrain from judging people before you know the truth, a lil tip for life there. If you must know, I do have an active social life, and I certainly do not spend all my money on videogames. I have only bought one videogame in the last two months, and that was Brain Training. If you have the time and the money to waste on buying three consoles and a shedload of games, then that's fair enough, but a lot of people, myself included, do not. I, firstly, have a DS, a GC, and a PS2. That's all, probably the same as the majority of people here, as, as I'm sure you are aware, 3rd party support for the GC has waned incredibly, and the PS2 offers these third party games. I have no fancy deluxe Xbox360 nor do I have a PSP. Furthermore, nor do I have (how did you so eloquently put it, ah yes) a "shedload" of games for them. I have 15 gamecube games, and I bought the console a year and a half after launch. That's 16 games, in around 4 years. This equates to a game every 3 months. Hardly a "shedload" is it : / Anywho, after disputing your fabricated claims, back to the original point that you could've simply made without making those above ignorant attacking claims. "I enjoy a wide variety of games, but Nintendo games such as Mario and Zelda are my favourites, so I own only Nintendo consoles, and a large proportion of my videogame spending is on first party titles. I buy single format magazines as they keep me best informed. I'm sorry, but this does not make me a fanboy, and certainly not a moron." I too enjoy Nintendo games the most, and also, the majority of my money mainly goes to first party games. However, I find, in my oh so humble opinion, that single format magazines generally don't offer anything different to what you can already get on ole t'Internet. I believe that this here site is superior to many single format magazines as they provide insightful articles, like the recent ones about games journalism, and a news feed that's always being updated by Tphi and co. And it’s free! I mainly made my bold statement, that you those people are morons, because all the content in these magazines are right under your nose! And for free! Single format nowadays, I feel, regurgitate (sorry if this is too complex for ya, by using this word I have no intention) news that can be found on any number of Nintendo fan sites. The magazines also try and cater to a certain demographic, if you don't believe me go pick up a PS2 single format magazine, and as a result, the writing style is titled in an unwanted direction (of course you may like this style of writing, this issue is just a matter of taste, and of course, business sense for the magazine.) But my other point principle point is that these magazines are often blinded by their single-format status, just look at ONM's inflated 96% score for NSMB this month. The previews section is again, material that can easily be found online. This point is majoritively my major issue with single format magazines, in that they add nothing new to the mixture, instead serving up articles that have already been archived by Internet sites before they reach your hands. However, that said, I did buy NGC until its dying days. While the previews weren't very informative, the news was old, and the reviews weren't of the highest calibre, one of the main reasons why I continued to buy NGC was that it filled a niche, that no magazine nor internet site has really done. Report in a humorous way that can actually make people laugh. This cannot be found elsewhere and hence the reason why I continued to buy the magazines. A feature that I remember fondly was "Nintendo's Freaks". It's oddly great obscure unattainable-on-the-internet features like this, that kept the magazine alive. Just out of interest, what magazine do you buy? ONM I presume. The aforementioned gripes about single format magazines were generally gained from reading of the last 5 issues of ONM. Please feel free, in fact in would encourage you, to reply with your view on ONM. 1000 word disgruntled rant over.

Yeah, definitely. I just love the rush of getting collapsed veins, infections of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, and liver disease. Oh, and don't forget that totally rad sensation of pulmonary complications, and the added bonus of various types of pneumonia. Smashing really. Oh, and kids, each time you do it, you just run the totally-superly-awesome-cool risk of recieving the Human Imunnodefiecency Virus, which just rocks!

I can't believe how stupid I was when I was a kid. I played these really kiddy videogames... can't remember the name... Something like Ninpento?

Ristar if it's available. Most underated MegaDrive game. Ever.

Indeed, which seems to be akin to Nintendo's "Blue Ocean" strategy. I also agree with your point, that videogames are there to be enjoyed. Too many people become bogged down in such matters like "the state of the industry" or "the next-gen rulers" or "who has the faster processor." People just need to let go, and play games for the reason why they started playing games in the first place. For fun. Not out of brand alliance, or anything else. Just fun and enjoyment.

I can't understand this GCSE Seperate Chemistry. I just can't. Biology is great, Physics is fine, but Chemistry. Nigh on impossible.

After NGC's slow progression, and my increasing desire for more intelligent writing, I only bought those final, spine-less (literally and metaphorically) issues out of an act of loyalty to the brand I'd started buying 4 years ago, when I was a much younger lad. Now, I'm moving onto pastures new and intelligent. I find myself bored by articles in one platform magazines, offering barely anything different to what you can get online. Edge and GamesTM differ in that they have quality writers and insightful features that are unattainable online. I suppose it's a natural progression. Many people when younger have to be on either one side or the other, calling the opposition names, and refusing to buy their products because of their brand. I notice a lot of people who feel this way about Sony on these boards, proudly proclaiming themselves to be "Sony hateboys", saying how they won't buy the Playstation 3 because they hate Sony, not for a sensible reason such as the price. These people, quite frankly, are morons. They miss out on superb games, like those who refrained from buying a PS2 because they didn't want to be disloyal to Nintendo (on that note, what the fuck? Nintendo isn't your family for Christ sakes) Those unfortunate misguided souls have missed out on titles such as Guitar Hero, Ico, Metal Gear Solid, and a plethora of great RPGs, just because they are too blind to be balanced, and enjoy the services both (or in this case 3) sides have to offer. Instead trying to condemn others for owning these consoles, one reason I from the multitude availale is that "PS2s are for the chavs that like GTA" These people instead to prefer to suck at the propaganderous teat of single format magazines, who constantly make comparisons to other consoles, claiming how their version is better and how you don't need opposition consoles and how their backed console is going to rule the next gen. These people, who buy such magazines, are quite frankly, it is pathetic. Although it is understand when at a younger, more ignorant state. I myself was a sufferer of this accursed disease that the majority of young people seem to catch, and, looking back, I cannot believe my foolishness in rejecting consoles simply because I disliked the company. Ridiculous. Anywho, rant over.

Wow, this is disgraceful. I am a follower of EuroGamer and after reading their review I nearly went and obtained it not by buying it. Which when finding it was crap I would've only be slightly annoyed, but for people who read their reviews and go out and buy games based upon this this is a disgrace. Just looking at the comments draws sympathy for the poor souls who have thrown away 20 quid as a result. "I've got to say I feel a bit conned." "ultimately, we put our money where your mouths are, and it feels to me like you've let us down. " I feel a strong sense of mistrust to EG now, me thinks I may take down my RSS feed.

God, I hate that logo. For seem reason it seems very... kiddish to me. Maybe it's just me. Reminds of those kids magazines like Jetix. And the DVD-ROM probably won't be fantastic. I can understand one for e3, but I mean there can't be that much content each month can there, well surely not enough to justify making one. I doubt there'd be demo discs as it is unoffical remember. ONM would get the priority on demo discs I'm sure. And the cover... seems incredibly dull. I long for the days of like SuperPlay when artwork from the magazines art department was on the front cover, not same generic image used over and over. I must have seen that mario picture 30+ times.

Gah, one more week until I will be off school. S'annoying, most people in my school had their final exams last Friday *grumble* stupid school, forcing me to doseperate sciences against my will *grumble* As all the majority of my friends have finished, I feel like I have too, and I'm doing less and less revision for the seperate science papers, the hardest ones. : /

Yeah, loads of auctions I was looking had really scuffed up boxes, which was pretty off-putting.

Just Won Happy to pay a bit more for better condition. All I need now is a Dreamcast

ONM is completely completely different to NOM. Far better, under a completely different team. Buy it and see for yourself. It's only £4 quid, and you get a DVD of the E3 games, which is nice as although I've seen most of them, it's cool to see them on a nice TV.

Why? Just curious, as I thought it was fairly allright, not great, but standard. It makes more sense to give justification for your opinions, instead of just bare slamming. K?

gamesTM #45 The cover in store looks as tacky as Jordan. Scores Okami 9 Winning Eleven 10 9 New Super Mario Bros 8 Hitman Blood Money 8 Harvest Moon: Magical Melody 8 Heroes of Might & Magic V 7 Rise & Fall: Civilizations At War 7 Rockstar Table Tennis 7 MotoGP 06 7 Dreamfall: Longest Journey 7 Auto Assault 6 Sensible Soccer 2006 5 Ninety-Nine Nights 5 SMT: Digital Devil Saga 5 X-Men Oficial Game 3 Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires 3 The DDS score seems very harsh compared to other reviews and comments I've heard. Anyone played it? Good to see Magiacl Melody getting a good score, might just pick this up as I didn't purchase AWL, and MM is apparently the superior version of the two. Anyone got it on import? Dissapointed with the Sensi score, especially after the glowing EuroGamer review, but I'm inclined to agree after playing the demo. It's great where it was in retro land, no need to drag it out and dirty it's name. And the DreamFall score seems pretty high. I got it and it's barley a game, a good narrative yes, but that's all. The gameplay elements are dire to say the least.

On another note, as there aren't specific threads for each magazine, and this is a thread only about magazines I nominate scores and magazine details should be posted here, instead of a new thread being made for each magazine, each month. But anywho, here are ONM's small selection of review scores. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) - 96% Megaman Battle Network 6: Cybeast Falzar (GBA) - 71% Metroid Prime Pinball (DS) - 64% Puyo Pop Fever (DS) - 68% X-Men: The Official Game (GC) - 62% Dragon Booster (DS) - 27% SMB score seems to be very inflated in comparison to other reviews. But I haven't played it so I can't pass personal judgement.

Indeed it does. Thanks for the tip

Drearyish colours but the fact that there is the lil animation in the middle of it makes it good, although I dunno about the placing of it. It looks a bit to squarish in the middle there, I'd personally place in one of the corners, but good none the less 8/10 -
Most Jack Johnson stuff, except Crying Shame. That just makes me feel sad. Most recently, We Will Become Silhouettes by The Shins and Anodyne by Speechwriters LLC

*gets excited at the thought of having it in under two weeks* I seriously cannot wait. I tried playing on a computer and it just didn't feel the same, lack of immersion. I have oh so fond memories of playing four years ago when I was as experienced wih games and consequently it completely blew me away. Like a real life story that you live if you know what I mean. I'm just about to place a bid on Ebay for Shenmue 1. How long does it take to go through? Is it worth getting SII at the same time or will I have to wait a while before I complete it? I can't remeber as it was a long time ago I did. And then I'll buy my DreamCast after my final exam. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:
