  1. General Book Thread

I didn't enjoy Dune at all - sorry, I know that makes me a heathen - but I just thought it was trying too hard and didn't have enough substance. Admittedly it could be partly because I listened to it rather than read it (I have a long commute so try to use it to catch up on reading) and I know some books are better when read.
  2. good stuff thread.

I love Sciroccos, a definite future classic. Unfortunately this means prices are rising for decent ones. Plus my personal favourite, the Series 2 Storm, was limited anyway.
  3. Practicality vs Fun

It's true. I love cars and have been into them my whole life, but my motorbike is more fun that I would ever have expected. I use it as my daily commute and it ticks all the boxes - I get 130+ mpg, get to work significantly quicker than I would in a car (cutting through traffic jams still leaves me with a smug smile on my face) and it's great fun. Alternatively, if you want cheap practicality, speed and something that only a petrolhead will realise is quick how about a Volvo T5-R estate. I'll always have a major soft spot for these after their entry in the BTCC in the early nineties.
  4. bad stuff thread.

Trust me, you don't have to worry about repaying it any time soon - I'm 27 and my student overdraft just sits there with enough to cover the interest each month going in, as it has done for the last 6 years.
  5. If my experience with on-line dating is anything to go by I don't think being 'good looking' particularly matters to the women. Charlie is right, it's about the smile and projecting your personality. Oh, and a little tip I learnt - if a woman's profile only shows her face it means she's fat Obviously appearance still matters to men!
  6. Eggs

A lot of vegetables (typically ones like cucumbers with a high water percentage) don't last well in the fridge as at low temperatures the water expands and breaks down the cell walls, starting the rotting process.
  7. Eggs

Scrambled egg with smoked salmon in is a favourite of mine. I have also recently been cutting thick slices of bread, cutting a hole in the middle and frying eggs in the hole, so its friend bread with a fried egg in. Delicious!
  8. bad stuff thread.

Just make sure you have anything (even £10 a month) being paid into the account and they won't fuss for you to pay it back. The interest rates aren't too bad either. I have a larger overdraft that was accrued under a student account and I pay about £25 a month interest, which isn't too bad. It's really important to ensure that some money is being paid in, as I had a second student overdraft with a different bank, 'forgot' to keep paying money in on a regular basis and they demanded immediate repayment of the overdraft.
  9. good stuff thread.

Whilst they are definitely impressive, they don't exactly scream 'anniversary'!
  10. 8ISH - Meta thread

This is a weird co-incidence. I googled myself the other day (I'm trying to 'clean up' the results) and I found this photo from a previous BISH: I believe snack food, Mr Potato Head, game pyramid, different system controllers, tickets and suiting up were the items being BISHed.
  11. Weight Loss & Fitness 2012

I got the reg number, reported them and then the police hauled them in for an interview. He then completely lied about the whole thing... ah well. Can't believe it happened - when I was considering the potential risks before I got my motorbike having my foot run over was not one I'd expected! The surgeon has offered me an op for my knee, but we are taking the conservative option. It's responded well to physio so hopefully the need for surgery can be delayed. How are you getting on with your recovery? If you don't mind me asking, what percentage of use do you/your surgein anticipate having when your recovery is full?
  12. Weight Loss & Fitness 2012

I've been trying really hard this year to get fit. I joined a gym at the start of the year and it was going really well - I'd lost a stone by the end of February and gained muscle too. Unfortunately I have had a really bad run of luck recently health wise so I haven't been able to go. I tore the cartilage in my knee, then just as I had started going back to the gym some chump ran over my foot when I was on my motorbike and now I've been ill for the last 5 weeks. At least being ill means I'm not gaining any weight!
  13. General Movie Thread

The Game is an awesome movie. I really like David Fincher, he's made some really good and thought provoking movies. TTSS to me was confusing. I'm an intelligent guy and have never found myself in this position before but I had no idea what was going on for most of that movie. I suspect that most people who raved about it secretly didn't understand it but were too embarrassed to admit it as it was so hyped and technically well made.
  14. good stuff thread.

You're remembered too and are consequently entitled to a self-esteem boost like J7. Anyone who joined the forum in Sept 05 from N64-E, C-E or R-E can be confident of being remembered and specific queries are unnecessary! I don't know if I'll stick around to be honest. I just got curious and whilst I'm off work sick I have some time in the day to kill.
  15. good stuff thread.

I do remember you, so consider yourself officially 'remembered' and you are welcome to derive self-esteem from that fact :-) I'll do my best to bring as much flaunting of marriages to N-E as I can. Everyone seems to be getting married at the moment - including my own I went to 5 weddings last year and there's at least 3 next year. Far worse that too many weddings however is children. Several of last year's marriages have now produced offspring which I am expected to show an interest in. Photos of these offspring clutter of my Facebook feed too. Humph.
