Paramount (and Dreamworks) dropped Blu-Ray for 18 months because of a small $150 million incentive. As much as I dislike Sony, these companies didn't drop it because it was rubbish. Linky Personally I think both formats are completely unnecessary and give very little over standard DVD's. especially for the price. The reason why DVD was so successful is because it was a huge step beyond tapes. There's very little that actually needs or massively benefits from the extra storage.

I'd be happy with £10,000. At the moment I have £12,000 debt. That will increase to about £18,000 by the end of this year. That doesn't include the amount of money I owe my parents for money to do things like eat. The student loan just about covers my accommodation for the year. I complete agree divorced parents benefit far too much. I know two people that are stupidly rich, yet get full fee remission because their parents split up. Last year my dad earned about £200 over the border for full fee remission, so I had to pay £50 in college fees (the old system). Because of this I lost out on about £2000 of bursaries and grants. The whole system is screwed. It only seems to help people who are rich and screw the system over. EDIT: Oh and for all you new guys starting, word of warning, the student loan is technically interest free. However it does increase at the rate of inflation, which is about 1.9% at the moment. for a 4 grand loan each year, after 3 years it's £480 extra, and after 4 years its £800 extra. They forget to mention that.

Do you accept Nintendos laziness?
Ginger_Chris replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I personally rank developers by the number of quality games they produce. I'm taking quality like Half-life, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires, Far Cry Supreme Commander etc type quality. Lets take some examples, Valve produce one exceptional game every 3-4 years, Blizzard Produce 1 maybe two quality titles a year. Ensemble Studios, one every year. Westwood (formally), one every two years, same with the old Team 17. EA maybe one or two brilliant titles a year. Three if you lucky, and they have studios all over the world. Ubisoft might get one or two AAA titles. Nintendo get fairly regularly at least 4 brilliant games a year. That's not forgetting they also brought out the DS and the wii hardware, which aren't exactly unpopular. I'm sorry if you're not getting the games you want this minute, I'm sure if you phoned up nintendo and asked them to pump out quick movie tie-ins and budget bug filled games they might just to satisfy you impatience. Personally waiting makes a good game that little bit sweeter, and calling a studio lazy for producing more good games than other developers seems a little harsh. I'm pretty sure you'd do a much better job if you weren't to lazy to make your own games. -
I'm still winning, w00t. Where i'm from the term is townie. Or it was until the burberry arrived, it used to be hoodies and trackie bottoms (which I still where tbh). Back in the day it was all about the "modded" cars and dance/trance which determined it, not you parents employment status or fashion.

Dear God, 44% chav. That's far to much for a respectable student and wannabe teacher. I do come from Scunthorpe however which I think instantly adds 30% to that score. Oh and I hereby announce my new name: Kelvin-Kelsey Curtis

Well done Supergrunch, although from what I saw in the Homework thread there was little chance of you not getting those results. Congratulations never the less. Oh and all you guys dissing Oxford studnets, where not all bad. Personally I've never rowed a single stroke (or even being inclined), and I spent a fair amount of time down (well up) at Brookes, I even danced on their university team. I do know what you mean there are a lot of snobby gits at Oxford, but they tend to look down on me just as much as Brookes peeps. However, there tend to be WAY more rich and snobby people at brookes, you can tell who they are because they say they go to "Brookes College, Oxford" (no lie). Anyway I'm doing my PGCE at oxford this year, and I'll probably be still dancing for them brookes, so I might see you round. I should organise a wii session when I get everything sorted (like where i'm living...). -
Full English fry-up. The works, fried bread, fried tomatoes, beans, loads of sausages and bacon, black pudding, hash browns, eggs, toast, etc. Everything. With a lovely cup of tea (white, one sugar). For dessert it would be black forest gateau. Perfect.

You should keep it all in a safe place. Technically circuit boards and other electronic waste is more abundant in precious metals like gold and copper than their original ores, so if you saved them until the price of such metals becomes really high, you could sell them off and become a millionaire. Though that might be looking a bit too far into the future.

Which uni did you apply too? and which subject do you want to teach? I've got a place on one, but they're taking ages to send me forms and generally not being organised. It's a pain in the ass though, I had 2 interviews and a day in a school with them, all of which were rushed because I applied a week before the deadline. These PGCE types don't seem like the most organised people, I should fit right in.

Currently unemployed after finishing my degree. Hopefully I will be starting teacher training in September.

Its all about playing people in the same room with a large dollop of smack talk. Now if they offered LAN play, 2 people on each screen, or even 8 players total, that would be fantastic.

Lacie are nice drives, good build quality fairly quiet. I had one for 2 and a bit years, packed in eventually (although funny sounds came out for a week beforehand so I could rebackup everything on it). It did do a fair amount of travelling though, so I completely don't blame them. Unless you get a solid state drive they are all prone to knocks and bumps,i didn't expect it to last forever. Saying that, if its staying in the same spot or being moved rarely, I recommend any LaCie or Seagate (replacement) drive.

I'm just waiting if this type of thing is prolific. Remember at the start when loads of people got error codes after the first update? I'm just waiting a couple of days to see if there are any missed problems that's all. I don't have a mod chip or freeloader but I do like to er on the side of caution. My wii is the only thing keeping me from dying of boredom at the moment, so I'd hate to loose it.

I'm waiting for a day or two to see how many consoles die before downloading

I live in Scunthorpe, its between Hull and Doncaster and has a reputation as being a chavey hole of a town. To some extent its true, but it really annoys me when people (especially londoner's) think their town is better, and have the stereotype that I'm instantly scum. To me the difference is that in Scunthorpe, I can have a friendly chat with someone in a shopping queue, talk to old people at the bus stop, or ask directions from anyone. I once said hello to someone on the tube and three people moved carriages because they thought I was crazy. Yes London has a lot more going on, but I'd rather live in a dump of a town where you can smile at your neighbour and not get committed.

Actually does the Double Chicken burger from Nando's count? Because that's godly.

Wii Sports Wii Play Twilight Princess Red Steel Excite Truck Wario Ware Banana Blitz Mario Strikers 8 at the moment. I have Metroid, Paper Mario, Galaxy and Smash brothers on pre-order, however I doubt many people won't be getting those. I think I'll probably be on 12-13 by the end of the year.

Could we change the thread title to "EA admit they could have made more money", because lets face it, that's all they care about.

Zinger Tower from KFC, followed by McChicken Premier. I try and avoid beef from fast food restaurants, at least I know the chicken is pre-processed rubbish.

As a physicist my answer would be: the glass contains exactly 50% of its maximum capacity. And anyway, no-one really cares about the glass, its all about the liquid. I'd prefer to say there's x ml of liquid, because both 50% and half empty/full both mean absolutely nothing without further information.

Dell laptops are a tad overpriced. It might have been worth it when they had really good tech support, but since they decided to market a the general public (rather that 10 years ago when they marketed mainly at companies) their tech support and general customer service has gone down massively. There no point paying the £200-£300 extra a dell cost over something from a smaller company (especially because their usually exactly the same laptop). Almost as expensive as the sony viao laptops. (hideously overpriced)

Definitely a good stage for characters that can stay in the air for a long time. Nice that its advantageous to play as a character on his own stage.

I've just finished uni, and I felt that buying a laptop was probably a mistake. I thought I'd use it for lectures, the library etc, but I didn't and don't know anyone who did. It pretty much sat on my desk. I really should have just bough a desktop and had done with it. The only thing I found useful was that I could easily take it on a train so my parents didnt have to pick my up every term (we had to move out between terms). However If you have a car with you, or live close to home I'd suggest thinking about getting a desktop, more power for much less price.
