  1. I hope this thread hasn't taken over the beloved "homework thread". Chuck if you need any help with physics I'd be happy to, hopefully later in the year I'll be teaching a A-level class, but until then I could do with answering questions that aren't about KS3 biology. PS when did supergrunch get bestowed the blue name thingy?
  2. Personally I thought it was because the chozo spread their technology throughout the galaxy, and It just so happens that's also where she got her suit from. Coincidence?
  3. She didn't say what grade she got for GCSE. She could have got a C or higher though. Problem with the education system in this country is that it doesn't actually reward you for understanding anything, just rote learning.
  4. Actually I think there pretty sure the list of quarks ends there. There was some such theory that thought it would that has been right about other things. Plus there's a nice symmetry having 6 fermions, 6 quarks, both divided into 3 "families". oh and the box thing, the pi0 is composed of which is a superposition of those two states. That whole quantum/nuclear stuff actually makes a decent amount of sense eventually if you just accept a few "interesting rules". PS: i know i asked last year, but would it be possible to add in a bit of mathematical equation writing stuff into this here comment writer please?
  5. Intelligent design is not science by definition. The whole idea is that any scientific theory should be able to be disproved. You have to be able to test it by using predictions it makes. You can never fully prove a theory, just prove that its the best guess we have for a set of observables at this time. Intelligent design however can never be disproved, because God did it. You cannot make predictions from it, and the answer to any problems with it, is God designed it that way and did it for a reason, mysterious or not. It's not science in the slightest.
  6. hmm antimatter, nice fun one there and I'm bored. Basically there are 12 basic particles and their antimatter equivalents, these are: quarks (which interact via strong, weak, electromagnetic and gravitational forces): up quark - anti up quark down quark - anti down quark charmed quark - anti down quark strange quark - anti strange quark top quark - anti top quark bottom quark - anti bottom quark leptons(which interact via weak, electromagnetic and gravitational forces): electron - positron electron neutrino - electron antineutrino muon - anti muon muon neutrino - muon antineutrino tau - anti tau tau neutrino - tau antineutrino The antiparticle equivalents have the same mass but the opposite sign for other properties, such as charge, strangeness, charm etc. Basically when a particle interacts with its anti particle equivalent they annihilate (to form 2 or more photons). Occasionally you get weird things like charmonium where the particle-antiparticle pairs orbit each other. Anyway, things like protons, neutrons, lambda particles, sigma particles etc (baryons) are made out of three quarks, each of the same nature (either particle or anti particle). A neutron for example is made from two down and one up quark. A proton is made from a down quark and two up quarks. An antiproton is made of a antidown quark and two anti up particles. It has the same mass as a proton but a charge of -1 (e - same as an electron). Mesons consist of a antiquark and quark and inclued things like a pion (pi+ is made of up quark and an antidown quark. pi- made of an antiup quark and a down quark.) Not only do antiparticles annihilate in pairs they are also created in pairs from high enough energy photons. so you have a vacuum and electron-positron pairs can randomly from if high energy photons are around.
  7. Finished it yesterday. Veteran 100% 15 hours. not half bad. By far the easiest Metroid to get 100% collectables. Also I might even get 100% scans (something I've not managed before) eventually because your scan list continues over to the next game (genius).
  8. The game arrived this morning, but I've packed my wii up for the move to university so I can't play it
  9. What he said.
  10. S-ranks on mirror mode was fine, been there done that. But how in god's name did you complete Super Challende mode??? It's been bugging me for ages and I still can't do it. Oh well I hear you don't get anything amazing for completing them. I'll just have to live without it being 100% complete.
  11. Between this and "links crossbow training" I think the wii has the best line up of any console ever. The only way a console will ever beat it is with backwards compatability.
  12. Oh, I might hijack this thread a little, does anyone know a fairly cheap, decent wireless router/modem. It'll be only used by 3 people and only for broadband. No need for stupidly fast transfer speeds. I just want something reliable and without and extra software. (and any wireless recievers would be useful too to compliment it.) Cheers.
  13. Halo: first one was much better than the second, but wasn't actually any good. GTA: Really doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I have no idea how many people rate this so highly, unless they just haven't played other games. Fifa, Pro Evo etc etc: Football isn't that great a sport anyway, and a lot is lost in transition to game. Football manager games: If I wanted to play with speadsheets, I'd become an accountant. The Sims: Yawn. 1001 ways to kill a retarded sim. (looking forward to mysims however due to its direct control over a character. Hopefully.) Every MMORPG I've ever played. Good in theory. Morrowind. Oblivion was much better for one simple reason. In morrowind attacks missed randomly, you blocked randomly dependant on your stats. Just seemed you were clicking and a speadsheet behind the game was calculating everything.
  14. It's a fairly well known exploit on a lot of forums I frequent. However there's usually nothing worth saying in under 10 char, so its a fairly decent rule to have in place. Except this topic, I don't feel I can contribute anything significant to the discussion because I have no idea where I was, apart from I was probably at school (based on time of day etc).
  15. Hey, I've been following this discussion for a while and I really don't understand how you think 50% or even 5% of players know how to wavedash. Most people who bough this game play if for a quick laugh game. Its not about who wins, its about which idiot forgot about the motion sensor, or had the most ammusing death, the best smack talk, beating someone with pichu etc. Yes everyone tries to win, but unless you have a group of friends that take it seriously to win, you're not going to bother to learn how to wavedash. I play all the time with my mates, and we all know about wavedashing, but none of us can be bothered to practice and learn how to use it, because winning isn't the part that's the most fun. I see wavedashing in SSMB just like I see the snake in Table football. How many people play table football occasionally? Millions. How many know what a snake is? I'd guess about 100,000 probably less. How many can do it well? about 5000 maybe less? Every single person who is a pro can do it. It's not something you'll ever think about doing if you'd never seen it before, and anyone who's good enough to do it will beat any casual player without it. Of all the people who know what it is, not that many can do it effectively or want to learn. Personally I prefer the wrench which is easier, and faster to set up (slows game down less) and looks pretty much identical. Just because I know alot of people who can snake it doesn't mean I think lots of people who play casually in pubs do. If Brawl is online, I expect these types of skills will definitely increase. Everyone will start wanting to win (thats more the point of playing online) and most people will start playing people that can wavedash and L cancel. That will increase there exposure and so more people will want to learn them. Just like every other multiplayer game.
  16. A lazgul would be a fairly decent and unique character, Simialer to zelda/sheik was, except timers preventing you always being in lazgul form. Human form obviously weaker. would be interesting with a bird lazgul, heron especially. Advance wars would be best served by an assist trophy, I like the idea of the little attack animation of rockets appearing in the corner, then a huge rocket barrage falling on the stage. or calling in an air strike from helicopters. A tingle assist trophie would be interesting. not sure how it would work, but maybe throwing out rupees which act as health items (no need to pick up, like smash coins were). Different colours healing corresponding amounts. (max at red, maybe one purple). I'm still hoping for an Olimar character, played with 5 pikmin who follow him. throwing them as different attacks attacks, punch, whistle, etc there's a ot that can be done.
  17. For people older than 20: the good old days (And yes I did it with paint).
  18. If your really hungry and really desperat for food, sage and onion stuffing is your friend. Put some in a cup/bowl and and boiling water. Fills you up if your at the end of a term when money is low. Cheap Pizza is always good, pasta/bacon/tomatoes/cheese go together in any combination. Stock up on Pasta sauces. Add chillies for taste. Rice is cheap and easy too. Sausages kick ass, but get nice ones, Cumberland or Lincolnshire.
  19. What does it mean by larger? 10 times bigger radius, surface area or volume? 10 times the average volume isn't really that much bigger (radius just over twice as big), but 10 times the radius would give us 100 times average surface area to play on. And 1000 times the volume (if playing around inside). That would be awesome.
  20. The Dambusters theme tune (Added lyrics) (personal favourite-awesome tune) Rule Britannia Land of Hope and glory
  21. Get Sir Reals G15 Applet, it's the best one I've found, Fps, various network speeds (as graphs too), tell you when a programs crashed and lets you close it from the keyboard, memory/CPU usage. All on one screen. Fully customisable to.
  22. I'm going to say 30 or 32. No more than that. Lots of characters people are saying would be amazing would probably be better served as cool super-powerful bosses (ridley, king k-rool) or as assist trophies having one cool move rather than loads of sub-par ones (tingle, mr rosseti). I'd be surprised (and very happy) if sonic made it, but I don't think he will. I hope captain Olimar will, just for his uniqueness.
  23. Noodleman, You are god amongst all other food-based men.
  24. Wow, he died twice in one day? Thats impressive.
  25. I'm surprised no-one has even mentioned the Optimus Keyboard. It's a little pricey at £800.00 but it does everything you want except the backlighting, along with he added bonus of each key having a 48*48 colour LED screen on it. Imagine the possibilities.
