For cross party games, if a company wants to put the effort in and adopt the contollers unique control style to produce a better game, it will profit them and boost their reputation. However if they feel that its not worth spending the extra develoment time on adapting, nintendo shouldn't cut off the games. They need all the 3rd party support they can get, all the consoles do. We may even get more 3rd party support for the controller with the shell, as they are more likely to include the rev in the developement cycle. Its a good thing that the shell is available, and its a good thing that its not sold with the main controler, as it puts a little pressure to adapt.
