I played on a Wii for the first time yesterday...
Ginger_Chris replied to Wesley's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm just wondering, did you play wii sports by yourself or with other people? It really isn't a single player game. Best moments I've had with my wii involve twenty people around a projector having a game of wii tennis (or wario ware). Wii sports is the perfect game to play with people who have never really played games before becaseu its just so easy to pick up and play (and still has a decentish amount of depth) -
There's a bit of a difference between a couple of people dying in a car accident, and two airliners flying into one of America's most important buildings with huge loss of life. But its not necessary that both moments will be ingrained in your memory. I remember being told about 911 at the bus stop and just thinking it was a sick joke until I saw the news. But just because I remember it doesn't mean I assume everyone does. Hell if you didn't see a TV that day you could have easily missed it.

Sounds a bit like bells palsy. I had that though luckily mine only lasted a few days and didnt have any lasting effects, was really really scary to wake up one day and no be able to ove the left side of my mouth/cheek. Couldn't talk properly. Luckily It cleared up about as fast as it came on.

I have no Idea where I was. I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion, yes she did a lot of charity work, but so what, her life didn't deserve the amount of publicity that it has gained. Especially when so many other people die everyday, in much more tragic circumstances and get little more than a mention in a local newspaper.

I would like to add Slovenia to this list. something like 53% forest cover, has all the valleys and such of austria, very beutiful country, by far the nicest of the bunch I visited last summer. I'll edit some pictures in here later when I don't have to rush off. As you can tell I'm a big fan of greenery.

Oxford been fairly sunny for weeks. Maybe two days of rain. However I'm going back to scunthorpe soon (it's between Sheffield and hull), so I might possibly see this flooding everyones talking about. Its nice to see meadowhell is underwater. I bet its ruining all the chav's trainers. -
hmm, I'm more into finding a job for like the rest of my life rather than just this summer. Really need to find something to do.

What are you doing to replace games in the "draught"?
Ginger_Chris replied to Tyson's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Going outside, playing sport, seeing firends, generally what I do every summer. To satisfy my gaming hunger however, I've just bought Baldur's gate 1,2 and both the expansion packs for £9.99. It should keep me ticking over. Plus I'll have summer to play/complete all those games on the wii that i didn't have time to play during term time. -
oops, my bad. I read the last few posts and didn't see any mention of it, I just assumed everyone got the game email at the same time. (And I posted about 2 minuted after I received the email).

Evilmiurray, did you get the most recent game email, they had dandelion on its front page. I'll forward it to your it you want.

One of those lucky people who eat everything but put on nothing?
Ginger_Chris replied to Rummy's topic in General Chit Chat
How much wieght I put on is completely propoortional to how much excersis I'm doing, I'll go up to 13.5 stone when not doing any a week, but drop to 12 fairly quickly as soon as I start doing it regularly. Just means I put on loads of weight when i'm not at uni, and drop it off when i get back every term. -
If by forgive you mean not being bothered to be angry ignore someone, then very. I find it very difficult to be deliberately hostile to someone. However I find it very easy to just not put any effort into making conversation, or generally just treating them as a complete randomer. If someone pisses me off I just don't make the effort of being their friend. If they make the effort to be friendly ill usually be firends again very quickly. Basically, I don't put any effort into anything, ever.

I have my last exam for possibly ever tomorrow. A 3 hour beast titled "Cosmology, Stellar structure, Climate Physics and Fluid Flows". It pretty much everything from the big bang, supernova and black holes, global warming weather patterns, why aircraft insects fly, and everything in between. We'll probably be tested on 5% we need to know for the paper.

I don't know why people are still complaining about this, the paper mario games are heavily humour based, and translating them have much less to do with translating word for word, but completely changing the dialogue and humour to suit each region. More subtle or tongue in cheek for Enlgand, more slapstick for france, more blatant and obvious for America etc. That will take a lot of time and effort. Give them a break.

Graphics are dependant on the developer. Good graphics usually have nothing to do with the amount of anti-aliasing, colour depth or screen resolution. Examples such as viewtiful joe, super mario brothers 3, Wind Waker, Resident evil (the remake), tetris, pong etc are technically fairly average/low, but the amount of style means these games will always look good. Its not about making reflection perfect or faced photorealistic, its about creating a world thats either believable, or brings out emotions the developer wants. But that means the developer has to do more art based work, or use the technology more efficiently, and well some developers aren't very good. A game needs gameplay to be good at bare minimum, but style>technical graphics.

Is it a good idea to raise the driving age limit to 18?
Ginger_Chris replied to Slaggis's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll say no, because people who are idiots and drive like idiots at 16, are usually still just as stupid when they are 18, or 21 or 35, if they manage to live that long. It would make no difference to raise the age to 18, apart from making Darwinian selection slightly slower. Driving tests should be have to be retaken every 10 years, I'm all for idiots killing themselves by dangerous driving, the problem is when they kill innocent people as well. -
Due to having negative money, and needing things like food and such, I very much doubt I'll be going on holiday this summer. Not that I mind last summer I travelled round eastern europe for a month. Stupid student loan really doesn't cover many luxuries.

Medium ranked 390123 with a score of exactly 6000. will do better though.

A fair few of the Melee ones will get the chop methinks. Mew-two (although great), pichu, young(er) link, jigglypuff, mr game and watch, roy (or marth, I think one of them will make it), dr Mario, Ness. There's a fair few that have a decent chance of not making it in. I'm not saying they are bad characters (except pichu) but I think they'll change some around. I dunno, deoxys instead of mew-two maybe, getting rid of some clones, introducing new concepts etc. keeping all the old characters just limits the originality. I think they'll be more than 14, 20 is a good number. 10 starters, 5 fairly easy unlocks, 5 fairly hard unlocks.

Dammit that went so badly, like diabolically badly. And i needed to do well to pull my degree up to a 2:1. Damn, oh well i suppose a 2:2 isn't that bad.

I did D1 and D2 three years ago, and although ours was called discrete maths its pretty much the same thing. Also did S1, S2, M1 and M2. Anyway I have the mother of exams tomorrow, "Nuclear, Partical and Atomic Physics". It makes so little sense, and I have to remember the quark compositions of like 30 subatomic particles.

Ridley, Playable? nah, not likely. He's huge for a start, they'd have to scale him down massively to avoid clipping/taking up the whole stage. It wouldn't look right. I see him more as an environmental hazard. A stage from temple in metroid prime, with the destructible columns, and Ridley flying around as an animation, popping of the odd missile or laser beam (like the Arwings in the Starfox level)

Finals start in 2 days, and I'm starting to feel a tad nervous. Luckily the first paper is my short option and means very little to my final grade. At least I only have 3 papers (that somehow make up 60% of my degree)
