  1. I add olive oil to boiling pasta because it helps stop the water frothing and boiling over the top. I don't think it does it anything for taste. Also helps it stick less to sides and each other. I also add salt to change the boiling point.
  2. When opening a jar, just knock the lid twice against a hard surface, 95% you should be able to open it dead easy.
  3. Ok could someone write me a 5000 word essay about my classroom practices concerning information literacy in the next 12 hours. I would be much obliged. Cheers
  4. If emo stands for emotional, why do they only seem to exhibit only one emotion?
  5. Used to play it loads back in school. Had 4 or 5 decent decks. Green ftw
  6. I'm trying so hard right now not to take the bait...
  7. Guns don't kill people, bullets do. /thread
  8. I don't have a dream job, I'm just tumbling through life tring to find something that doesn't bore me. Just finished a physics degree and training to be a science teacher, starting my first job next year. I can definitly say I haven't been bored so far everything changes every day, and if it does get boring; every school is completely different.
  9. draw a graph, the x co-ord is exactly between the x co-ord of a and b. the y co-ord is exactly between the y co-ord of a and b. (a+b)/2 assuming O is origin. (you can easily modify it to O being the origin, work it out and replace the old axis)
  10. A quicksave/quickload feature would be awesome. So many things I've regretted a few seconds after.
  11. Maths: A* Stats: A* Physics: A* Chemistry: A* Biology: A Geography: A* Business studies: A* Electronics: A* English Lit: A English Lang: B French: B (predicted D/E :P) A levels aren't that much harder, you just get to do more interesting stuff. Chemistry AS was pretty nasty though, I gave up after it to do something that didn't require stupid amounts of random fact learning. Futher Maths was the greatest subject ever.
  12. I'll see if I can put any mesh or something near the fans to prevent dust. messy cables and lights don't bother me (I have a usb plasma globe, mouse and keyboard lit up all night usually anyway). Put my order in just now, have to wait a bit for the E8400 though
  13. Cheers for the advice everyone, I'm definitely going to get the E8400. I was looking at the corsair PSU originally but I saw there might be problems with it and the case. What niggles did you have with it McPhee? My speakers are Logitech Z4's, keyboard; Logitech G15 (old style) and mouse; razer diamondback.
  14. Yea, sorry about this guys I really didn't want to make another one of these threads, but I do want you advice. Maybe one day we'll have a single thread that's stickied with a bunch of PC's for different prices that we can alter as time goes on. Anyway, I've got about a grand to play with. Don't need Keyboard, mouse or speakers so just the box and monitor. So far I have this: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P iP35 Socket 775 8-channel audio ATX Motherboard £90.82 Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz 1333FSB Socket 775 4MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor £116.99 2 * OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC with LIFETIME WARRANTY £34.98 (£69.96) Inno3D 8800GT (G92) 512MB 256bit GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTVOut PCI-E Graphics card £158.88 Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Soundcard - Retail Boxed £57.45 Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATA II 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM £64.99 Samsung SH-S203B 20X DVD±RW/RAM / DL Serial ATA Black Bare Drive - OEM £18.50 Antec Nine Hundred - Gaming Case with 200mm Top Fan - No PSU £68.46 Antec NEO HE500GB 500W Modular PSU With 80mm Low Speed/noise Fan 18db £63.08 Samsung Pebble SM2232BW 22" TFT Monitor Widescreen 1680x1050 3000:1 300cd/m2 2ms VGA/DVI Gloss Black 3 Years Warranty £210.06 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium - Licence and media - 1 PC - OEM - DVD - 64-bit - English £57.80 total= £993 inc delivery Is this fairly balanced? Any problems you see with it? Anyway I could save money/massively improve performance cheaply? Thanks in advance.
  15. Hey. yea, bit of advice, while your around don't look at anyone directly in the eye. I know it's the internet so you physically can't, I'm talking metaphorically. It's probably best if you just back away slowly and don't make any sudden movements. Seriously, I wish I could leave. Enjoy your stay.
  16. figs with parma ham and goats cheese make quick easy to make starters.
  17. 12^(2/3) = (2*2*3)^(2/3) = ((2^2) * (3^1))^(2/3) like you said = (2^(4/3))*(3^(2/3)) slightly simpler 18^3n = (3*3*2)^(3n) = ((3^2)*2)^3n =(3^6n)*(2^3n) Prime factors, best way to do it is to divide by lowest prime 2, until its no longer a whole number, then move to the next one until you left with a prime. eg: 192 192/2 = 96 96/2 = 48 48/2 = 24 24/2 = 12 12/2 = 6 6/2 = 3 (prime) therefore 192 = 2*2*2*2*2*2*3 = (2^6) * 3 1400 1400/2 = 700 700/2 = 350 350/2 = 175 (not divisible by 2 or 3) 175/5 = 35 35/5 = 7 (prime) therefore 1400 = 2*2*2*5*5*7 = (2^3) * (3^2) * 7 12375 12375/3 = 4125 4125/3 = 1375 (not divisible by 3) 1375/5 = 275 275/5 = 55 55/5 = 11 (prime) therefore 12375 = 3*3*5*5*5*11 = 3^2 * 5^3 *11 oh and randomly 1001 = 7 * 11 * 13, it's a nice one to remember
  18. I am legend It'd s happy-go-lucky chick flick full of laughs and embarrassing situations. She'll love it.
  19. Is it wrong I want to punch people in the face when they shout "TUNE!" like a drunken moron? And don't get me started on when "I am the one and only" comes on and every single person raises a hand and screams it. It's almost too ironic for words.
  20. What he said. Hopefully I'll have some free time. £17.99 is a steal for a new console game, and It will definitely be better than some of the tripe retailing for £30. I also rekon CC is the way to go, if it's anything like air hockey in wii-play i'll continuously move the pointer off the screen, which is bad. Here's hoping it arrives on Saturday.
  21. Actually its a private school and the pupils pay £7000 a year to attend. I'm guessing she'd be on a tad more. http://www.stockportgrammar.co.uk/sgs/fees.htm
  22. Well at least I found it funny. He's an idiot anyway for believing someone on the internet. I mean, Really I don't even have ginger hair. Honest.
  23. hmmm, I do find I drink quite a bit, but never enough to get me drunk, only that light headed happy feeling of tipsy. Drinks of choice: Ale: nice strong good drink. Usually have 2 or 3 pints in the pub over a lunch. Cider: A good one, locally brewed if not old rosie is a nice fallback. None of this strongbow rubbish. Wine: Rose only really. not a fan of red or white. Can drink a bottle on an empty stomach and still feel fairly sober. Probably not a good sign. Sambuca and Absinth: both are so tasty it's a waste to shot them. I prefer sambuca drank slowly with ice. about 4-5 shots worth and 2-3 ice cubes. goes all cloudy. Absinth, again drank slowly 4-5 shots worth, usually with caramelised sugar in. A bit of baileys floating on top never hurt anyone either.
  24. I've had a card since I was 12, carry it everywhere. My whole body can be used if it will help someone, eyes, skin, bone, the lot. I think its fairly selfish not to donate, and even worse when someone's family says they can't donate just because they'd look bad in a coffin.
  25. I just realised, this is the first year since Year 8 (1998), I don't have to take any exams. Score.
