  1. Yep I've been accepted this evening. I only had 310 posts on neoGAF from 5 years or so of being a member, but I'm a good egg, so got in much quicker than it took to get a GAF account when I signed up for that! Impressed with how they've set it up so far. Very efficient and seems to have the feel of the community and the high level of activity that made gaf a compelling read, even though I never got involved too much. What will happen to gaf now will be quite intriguing, it still has a good level of activity for a forum, but it's dropped off so dramatically, and there's quite a toxic atmosphere despite those that are insisting they are staying and not moving saying how it's all the bad people/problems that have moved on, and it's just the people who want to talk about the games "without SJWs" who are left. Methinks they're a little in denial.
  2. I liked: @bob I don't know if it's just because it's my own post you quoted, but the spoiler tag seems to have broken in what you've quoted from me.
  3. One potentially big positive of this change - N-E is probably not banned as a news site on ResetEra! I've just seen their review thread of Odyssey is 18 pages, GAFs is three. Someone post the N-E one there if you're registered! I was a gaf member and occasionally posted but wasn't part of any particular "community" so never joined a Discord so am not over there yet. Hopefully won't be long until we can register.
  4. Seven and a half months on from its release and starting this game, I finally saw the credits roll yesterday. To be fair to it, a lot of that time I've been away from my Wii U. Overall, it's a brilliant game and the world is incredible. Technically it's great, it's a fresh twist on the Zelda formula and a unique experience. However, my main disappointment with it was that it never really made me feel much emotionally. Not much joy, nor sadness. The story was so lacking, and I never really felt I was on much of an epic quest. Side quests never felt that rewarding. The world never felt in threat. Basically, the story has already happened and you're thrown into a world where you can just do whatever you choose to get yourself ready for the final boss. I appreciate the freedom, but while many have criticised the story/plot/structure of previous games, that they are samey, whatever, they're part of the series I love. It's cool that they've mixed up the combat, made enemies tougher, made it a sandbox where you can use more elements of the environment to defeat your foes. I never fully got to grips with dodging and flurries though - when I pulled it off, it felt a bit like I chanced it, and I got by fine just slashing away at enemies. I have to say I missed the joy of finding a new weapon in a dungeon, or finding somewhere inaccessible then coming back later and being able to hookshot over the gap, or whatever. You had all of these shrines, but there really weren't that many puzzles (in the 82 I've done out of the 120). So while it was still Zelda, it was lacking so much that makes Zelda, Zelda. As I said, it's still a brilliant game that is a technical marvel and most certainly a game of the year contender. Despite this, it was probably my least favourite 3D Zelda. While I enjoyed my time with it, I was never addicted to it, or in love with it like I have been with previous entries. I'd love to see another Zelda with a world like this. But it should have a stronger structure. Xenoblade Chronicles mastered the massive world with a pretty linear story. No reason why it couldn't be done with Zelda.
  5. Bloody hell that soon? I need to get me a Switch!
  6. Think I'm just in time! This is hard! 1) The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 2) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3) Super Mario 64 4) Super Smash Bros. Melee 5) Pokémon Red/Blue 6) Xenoblade Chronicles 7) Super Mario Galaxy 8) Fire Emblem Awakening 9) Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 10) Mario Kart 8
  7. This is the one thing I couldn't work out when reviewing it, and no-one on the internet at that point to help out! Thanks for the tip, will have to go back and get to 100% now! Glad you enjoyed it, definitely interested in hearing your full thoughts when you put them together.
  8. I'm not 100% sure what to make of this yet. They really haven't presented it in a gripping way and not 100% on the new battle system. I only played the original on 3DS, which I reviewed for this site, and loved it. I was hooked and put close to 100 hours into it. It was grindy in parts, but the world was so charming and I was invested in the story, so kept on playing. X I really didn't get into. It had the same battle system, and vague similarities, but the world, story and mission structure was so bland. There was no personality. I gave up on it not long after you get your mech. I really hope this turns out good, because this and Mario Odyssey are going to be the games that make me pull the trigger on purchasing a Switch this winter.
  9. Thanks for the heads up! Snapped that up as I never bought it! Off on holiday for a few weeks now but that will give me something to get myself back into Battlefront before the sequel comes!
  10. N-Europe Review The N-E review written by yours truly is now up! I really enjoyed it, and am happy to answer any questions you may have! Thanks to @S.C.G for uploading it as I'm busy with work today!
  11. I'm awfully indecisive so hopefully when the day comes suddenly I find some decision making skills! May be a while off yet though as there's no way I can afford to buy in London where I live right now!
  12. Not hanging around haha! I can't imagine being decisive enough to put an offer on my first day of viewings! Hope it goes well Mr Serebii!
  13. This Disney/Star Wars/Marvel/Netflix news has nothing to do with the UK. There's never been a wide range of Disney films on UK Netflix, it's never had Star Wars, though did usually have quite a bit of Marvel. The majority of the Disney/Star Wars catalogue is tied to Sky/Sky Go as well as the stuff on DisneyLife. It's when their contract is up with Sky in this country that it'll be interesting to see what they do. I can't see them throwing away that relationship as if they want the films on TV, they have to be on Sky's streaming platform. But if this new streaming thing in the USA is a success, expect DisneyLife to rebrand/be pushed more.
  14. Don't know if it's not rendering properly, but it doesn't look as good post update! On the default theme and it's looks a bit messy, especially on the nav bar at the top.
  15. Unfortunately not me, haven't got around to picking up a Switch yet! Must be an impostor!
  16. Oh my god, Serebii is smiling in photos now! The Happiest Place on Earth has worked on him! Massively jealous too. Never been to the Cali one, and not been to Orlando since I was a kid. Desperate to get back over there!
  17. It's sadly a no from me for this weekend. As I said earlier in the thread, I've got to be away from tomorrow. Up for a different weekend soon though!
  18. As Charlie said, should be a Europe-wide thing if it's to work nicely. Open it 1st June, close it 1st August everywhere. Two months to do your transfers. Simples.
  19. I did think it might be for that reason but I wanted to be nosey
  20. Where you going to though? "Away" isn't a country I'm off on a big holiday in a month's time. 3 days in Dubai & Abu Dhabi before flying to Brisbane, there for a day before flying up to Cairns for the Barrier Reef and rainforests, back to Brisbane then travelling by coach down to Sydney, stopping off several places on the way. Total of 17 days in Australia. Never been to Australia, so if anyone has any tips, let me know!
  21. Well if anyone is around/up for doing anything this weekend, I'm now working early until mid-afternoon on Saturday, but am free in the evening and on Friday night.
  22. Yep, I had to delete my signature saying I had the best mafia game 5 years ago. I think imgur would work fine. I think that's the go-to these days.
  23. Oh I did watch it first! It's gone full circle! From thinking his english was normal and scottish was weird, now it's reversed!
