  1. I totally forgot this game existed until this week when I saw the adverts. It looks beautiful. Will look to pick this up after I'm done with Zelda.
  2. An update on my Amazon copy! Had an email from Vishal the supervisor and he has applied £10 promotional credit to my account, and it will be dispatching tomorrow for delivery on Monday. Will still be heading out for a copy today, but glad that moaning a bit has got me somewhere in terms of some compensation for the inconvenience.
  3. Haha yeah I can sneak out but need to get some work done first :p Thanks for the kind offer, I really do appreciate it but I'm sure I'll be able to pick up a copy at some point today and then do the whole switcheroo Sounds like you were one of the lucky few then! They've clearly had stock issues and aren't getting in a shipment of games they were expecting pre-launch until Sunday by the looks of it!
  4. Yep pre-ordered straight after Switch reveal and then when the BIGTHANKS code came up, I got them to add it to my order. Have you checked your order? Has it been dispatched? Thanks for the info, it's really much appreciated. Nah, I'm working from home in Highbury today, so will try and check in at the supermarkets up here.
  5. Yeah good idea, I did think of going to one of those, but again doubted there being any Wii U stock. Gotta get my day's work done first, but was thinking of heading up to Wood Green where there's the shopping centre with GAME, Argos, and a Morrison's up there too. I really wouldn't be this fussed if it wasn't Zelda, I just wanted it by tonight!
  6. Although I'm generally a very happy Amazon customer, I don't usually use them for game pre-orders as others get it to you earlier, but thought they'd be fine for release day, and the fact I was getting it for £30 with the BIGTHANKS code sealed my decision to go with them this time. I had forgotten Argos do those stickers, but hopefully it shouldn't be too much hassle. I might try GAME instore instead if their returns policy is easier/they have any stock at my one by the time I swing by this evening after work. CEX are buying for £43 cash at the moment as another option for returning a spare copy, but I imagine that price would've dropped by next Tuesday.
  7. Amazon have fucked me over on my Wii U copy. Ever since I ordered it has said delivery on 3rd March. Wake up this morning to say my item has been delayed and won't be here until Tuesday. Get onto the live chat and see if they can do anything. Not being very helpful. It's available on Prime Now in my area for £47.99, but because I'm not a Prime member and Prime Now works separately from normal Amazon, they can't help me get it through there. They offered me Prime delivery on the delayed order and a £5 credit, but I said that's really not good enough as they've fucked me over after promising release day delivery. You can't just tell someone at 3am on the day something is meant to be coming that it's not going to come. It's been passed onto a supervisor who is supposedly going to email me back. I've stuck a reservation down at Argos, at a shocking £48.99. Does anyone know, if I pick up a copy from there, and then return them the sealed Amazon copy whenever it arrives, will I have any problems?
  8. That's a very good point. I think maybe the way to go is to continue this thread with spoiler tags (and those using tapatalk will have to avoid/be careful) and then maybe have a thread where people can openly discuss spoilers once they've completed the game? I think that would be a fair way to stop people on tapatalk being burnt on end-game spoilers if they come in this topic.
  9. So you'll be able to add via NNID, but not the new Nintendo account name we all set up the other day? That seems so illogical! Also, do we know for sure that the friend code we will get is linked to the account rather than to the actual console? So if you log in to another Switch console, you will have the same code?
  10. Reviews are very promising, I'm so excited Although Amazon haven't yet shipped my Wii U copy, I imagine it'll be coming with Amazon Logistics at some point tomorrow then Getting in on the 3D Zelda rankings (I can't split most of them!) 1) Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask 2) Twilight Princess 3) Wind Waker/Skyward Sword I love them all in all honesty! Are we going to have a spoiler/non-spoiler thread or are we going to keep everything in here?
  11. Please do. It's been annoying me all day! Yes, review embargoes can hide terrible products, but they're a necessary part of consumer technology journalism. Without them, media outlets wouldn't ever receive products ahead of launch, and reviews ahead of a product launch are a good thing for the consumer. Yes, they have a PR benefit for the company providing the product as they can control the flow of information, but the benefit of journalists getting their hands on products early and the ability to do their job to review a product and provide information to their audience ahead of them being able to buy it themselves outweighs any misuse/dodgy dealings by the provider of the product.
  12. Got a bonus from work today which makes it really tempting to pick up a Switch but going to hold out for now as planned! But seriously, friend codes? Why Nintendo? What's the logic behind it? Does any other company with an online networking service, gaming or not, have such a stupid system today in 2017?
  13. I'm not judging! I'm just saying don't worry! It'll be with you on Friday! I understand the excitement, I'm refreshing my Amazon order page for Zelda on Wii U, even though I know I'll get an email when dispatched! But I have no doubts it will be here Friday, and people shouldn't worry that their Switches won't be here on Friday just yet!
  14. Exactly! Sure, they occasionally get something to you a day early, but it's not the end of the world if it's coming the day it's meant to come! I understand the anger if it isn't dispatched tomorrow. But no-one is entitled to have it shipped two days before when they will be sent with a courier!
  15. I really doubt that the official Nintendo UK store is going to fail to get people their Switches on launch day. Can you imagine how embarrassing that'd be for them as a company? Have faith! They'll send them next day delivery!
  16. Nah, they only had it set up with the joy-con controller grip. Made me feel assured that I wouldn't need a pro controller straight away whenever I pick up a Switch - the larger buttons on the Pro felt much better, but the comfort of the grip felt good enough despite it looking slightly unsightly.
  17. Maybe what I said about it doesn't quite do it justice, I only got a couple of rounds on it - there was just the one new map available in the demo. In terms of new weapons they had the dual pistols, which actually I thought were really good, as they have a new/dodge/jump mechanic that allows you to jump twice while firing, not just in squid form. Other than that there were a few new specials - a jet pack that propels you into the air and you can then shoot down at enemies, and a homing missile. I did kinda miss having the map available without hiding the screen, but conversely was good playing with a 'normal' controller. Super-jumping was fairly simple, using X for the map and then the left D-Pad directions to jump to one of your team-mates - not sure if this means the beacons are out of this though. It's very hard to judge it on just this demo. We need more details really on whether the online has been improved (parties, voice chat, change load-outs between matches) and whether there's a new, expanded single player campaign. But on first impressions, it's the same old Splatoon with a couple of new weapons. Let's wait and see.
  18. Got my hands on the Switch today for the first time at the London event. Very nice console. As most who have tried it have said, it feels premium. First 10 minutes of Zelda was fun. Managed to get two goes on it. 1st time I stayed safe, the second, I ran into battle and got one-shotted by a bokoblin leader and then stumbled across a guardian who zapped me dead. Really looking forward to playing this on Friday now. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was as expected. I won the race I played, by a country mile! Looks and feels good on the Switch. But not really interested in buying it again. Splatoon 2 felt and looked no different to the original, really, other than some new weapons. Will need a new, improved single player mode if it's to grab my interest. Arms was really good actually. Very enjoyable. Quite intrigued to see how this turns out. 1-2 Switch was naff. Mildly amusing but should be a pack-in or £20 at most. Run out of time before getting to play Snipperclips. Joy-cons are nice and light, the HD rumble is pretty cool. We will see how much it is used to its potential. They're quite small but fit in my hands nicely, and the controller grip that they had set up with Splatoon is decent too. Only problem I felt was the buttons are a little on the small side, which is solved if you have a pro controller, which is a nice controller and probably the best way to play if playing on the TV, but it is a bit/very expensive. Overall, my experience today hasn't really changed my opinion. I want a Switch. I will be getting a Switch. But I won't be getting one just yet. A Wii U will do for Breath of the Wild for now. I am looking forward to the day it drops to what I feel is a more comfortable price and has a better game library.
  19. To be fair, I think you're over simplifying it a bit going by score as the actual content of the reviews could bring up concerns that some might be influenced by. However, I have no doubt that it should be great/bloody brilliant, and the reason the embargoes are then are so reviews are in the mainstream media on launch weekend rather than before.
  20. Surely at launch if you're going physical on most games, it's really not worth picking up a (big) micro SD yet until your internal storage is getting full? Micro SDs will just get cheaper/more storage for less money, so if you put off the purchase of one until you need one, surely that's a better idea and spreading the cost a bit? And doesn't everyone have a ton of 4/8/16GB micro SDs lying around that can tide you over until you really need a large one?
  21. For the chests containing "useful items" - can anyone really see them being anything more than something like the Amiibo provide in TP:HD, so if you visit the chest you can get your bombs/arrows/etc. topped up? I guess they could have something like an exclusive sword in one of them seeing this game is more about picking up different weapons/upgrades, but if it's something like that, why not say rather than just saying "useful items"?
  22. I'll just leave this here from a quick search I did... And sure, they've given us some details. But they're vague. And as I said, I won't judge fully until we know more about what the new content is. Just on first impressions it sounds expensive.
  23. While I'm kinda fine with the actual concept of some DLC, it does seem pretty expensive for mainly just an extra dungeon somewhere down the line. Not too out of line from the rest of the industry in certain respects, but if you think how good value the MK8 and Hyrule Warriors add-on content was, it seems pricey. Will have to wait for more details before fully judging it. I have to agree that this is exactly the practice that the rest of the industry have been criticised for time and time again on these forums, selling a season pass from launch with fairly vague details of its content but it seems like Nintendo are getting a bit of a free pass on this because people personally want it more because it's Zelda. The Switch costume just sounds completely tacky to me and I'm kinda sad Nintendo would put something like that in a Zelda game. Also, this is totally my fault, but as I'm getting the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, and then getting a Switch at a later date (and probably would've ended up picking up Breath of the Wild on there), it's frustrating that my total outlay on the game will go up even more if I want the full experience, even if I just buy the DLC on one of the consoles. I'd hope that maybe there'd be cross-buy, so if you bought it on one console you'd have it on the other, but this is Nintendo, who love to charge for things twice!
  24. You're perfectly entitled to think it looks bad, but at least use a full resolution screenshot to make your point! This is only 800x449, so of course it isn't going to look perfect!
  25. Yeah I'm slowly starting to embrace digital more. I used to love buying CDs and having the disc and then ripping it onto my iPod and having the CD for the car. I didn't ever see the point of buying digital when it cost the same but I didn't get it physically. Maybe partly because I no longer have a car, and partly due to how great Spotify is, I haven't bought a CD in yonks. I also now buy fewer Blu-Rays because I realise I watch pretty much everything I want to see either at the cinema, through my Netflix subscription or my parents' Sky subscription. I've never bought a digital copy itself of a film though. With games, I still quite like a hard copy, for collection/hoarding/liking to have a physical thing but if there's a good deal on digital, I definitely will snap it up with no hesitation. Playstation Plus is really one of the main things that helped me embrace digital games. Saying that, most of the time I don't get the chance to play most/any of what I get from it, but it gives the opportunity! When I first got a PS3 late in its lifespan, it was brilliant! Many people on here have suggested a subscription/Netflix like service for Nintendo's retro games. I don't buy any virtual console games ever, but if you offered me a service that gave me access to a selection of their vast library, with some of the more premium offerings rotating in and out no doubt, I would certainly be tempted. They'd make a lot more money off of me from their retro offerings than they do now. It's a start that they're offering a NES/SNES game rental as part of their upcoming online service, but it doesn't really live up to what Sony and Microsoft offer. This has gone a bit off tangent to what the thread is about.... but yeah! Digital is growing on me!
