  1. The credits have rolled on the first Mass Effect (legendary edition). And when I say the credits have rolled, I mean the game has ended, because you cannot go back and replay any of the levels or continue doing side missions once the final mission is complete. Now, I kind of ballsed the game up a bit, in that I had intended to blow through the main story, and then go back and do some of the side missions, but now I realise that I can't. Because of this, I feel like I missed out on quite a bit of the game, but I'll review the bit I did manage to play: I thought the main story was pretty good - I enjoyed the plot, and I thought the writing was pretty good. There were a few glitches (mostly my teammates getting stuck and not following me until I'd passed a checkpoint, but nothing game-breaking. The dialogue options seemed to fall a bit flat however - other than a few of the missions, none of my choices really seems to make a difference. I kept choosing the 'nice' responses, but it didn't seem to do anything? Is there any advantage to being a 'paragon' or a 'renegade'? Similarly, I couldn't work out how to get better at lock-picking (hacking?). The first few levels had button pressing puzzles which allowed me to open boxes etc, but after a few levels I just kept getting the 'skill level too low' message. Was this because I didn't do enough side missions? It was kind of annoying that I just couldn't open any weapons caches for most of the game. I also never got the option to 'charm' or 'fight' my way with the optional dialogue choices - they were always greyed out, even though I had the 'charm' tree maxed out. Not sure what that was about. Overall I don't feel like I got the most out of the game, but I am intrigued enough to play the 2nd game, but I think I'll have a break. Watching the Uncharted film has made me want to keep playing those games, so I think I'll start up Uncharted 3 as my next game instead.
  2. Watched the recent Uncharted film on Netflix. I actually thought it was rather good! It had a great adventure vibe like a lot of films from the 90's and early 2000's. I know it was rather poorly received when it came out, but I actually think it captures a lot of the feel from the games (granted i've only played the first two), but i thought the whole segment in Barcelona and subsequent trip to Indonesia very reminiscent of the games, and the plot could have been taken straight from the games. I get that Tom Holland and Marky Mark weren't the best casted, but i understand them wanting to go with younger actors in case they end up making multiple sequels (don't want a guy playing Drake well into his 60s).
  3. Just Cause 3 (and 4) used to have leaderboards for random stats like distance fallen and total shots fired. You could choose if you wanted friend leaderboards or global leaderboards, but the global ones never really worked well, and they often showed glitched stats where people had 300% headshots or something. I thought they were quite cool, but I would have never seeked (sook?) them out if they hadn't been included in the game.
  4. You can't post those - they're confidential!

Finished watching Bodies the other day. We watched the first 4 episodes, and then dropped off to watch some other things, but I'm glad we persevered and finished it off - it was actually quite good! It was kind of like a much simpler Dark - nowhere near as good, but a similar sort of time loop scenario. As with all time travel shows, it helps not to try and think about it too hard, as it often falls apart, but on the surface the plot all lined up, and I enjoyed the different time periods. I would happily have watched a few extended episodes on the Victorian and WW2 timelines.
  6. It's time for my yearly rant at how terrible Crunchyroll is! I decided enough time had passed for me to look into watching the final Attack on Titan episodes, as by now they will have surely dubbed them into English, and sure enough, the dubbed version of Season Four: Part 2: Part 1: Chapter 1 is listed on their website! Woohoo! Now, I didn't particularly want to pay for a month of CrunchyRoll only to watch two episodes (even if they are over an hour long each), so I decided to sign up for a 14 day free trial, which was fine. The issue arose when i tried to turn the subtitles on (i watch the show while i'm doing the washing up and sterilising bottles, so it gets quite loud and i like to be able to read what they're saying). Crunchyroll informs me that there are no subtitles available for these episodes...what? How can there not be any subtitles available - you have the option of watching the episode in Japanese - with subtitles. Why can't you just put those subtitles on the damn dubbed version?! Anyway, I persevered with no subtitles, and discovered to my dismay that there is no dubbed version of Season Four: Part 2: Part 2: Chapters 3-5, because they haven't dubbed it yet. Fucks sake. I realise that's not Crunchyrolls fault, but how long does it take to read out a few lines of dialogue and line them roughly up to the video? So i watched the second half in Japanese with subtitles, because i'm not doing all this again in January when they finally finish it. [ spoiler="As for the ending itself" ]It was a bit crap, wasn't it? I did enjoy the final battle, and having all the titans from history come back out of the bones of the founder was quite cool, i suppose, but the actual ending where the rumbling happened, and then they had a little chat with Eren after he'd died (because he'd erased their memory of them talking until after he died(?), where he basically said that he had to kill 80% of humanity because he'd seen the future and that's the way it had to happen....or something. Bit meh. Mikasa carrying around his decapitated head was just weird. Even after hundreds of episodes, I still found it confusing to tell some of the characters apart - not sure if I get some sort of temporary face blindness, or if I just hate the art style, but I maintain that all of the characters look too similar. At one point, Armin appeared in the Path world (or whatever it was called, and he was crouching over the body of a small blonde boy, who I swear was also Armin, telling him to wake up. Who was that? I have no idea. And when Mikasa is imagining a future where she ran off to live in a cabin instead of staying and fighting, she was shacked up with some tall, dark-haired dude who I assumed was just some new character, but it turned out to be Eren?! Cut Eren's long, straggly hair short, and he could literally be anyone. If I had to rate the series as a whole, it would probably be: Animation - action scenes: 10/10 Animation - people and faces: 1/10 Concept: 10/10 Plot: 6/10 Music: 10/10 Overall: 7.5/10 [ /spoiler ] I apologise if my spoiler tags don't work - Tapatalk doesn't seem to register them.
  7. Weirdly, Charlie Brooker of Screenwipe and Black Mirror fame is listed as a founder of C.E.X. On topic, I don't pronounce it any way because I've never said it out loud, and never will.
  8. I didn't think Dazzybee existed any more.
  9. I genuinely can't comprehend this. 9 hours a day on average? That's incredible.
  10. I'm actually surprised I spent longer on the Switch than I did on the PS4 this year. It was mostly in Jan and Feb so that's probably why I don't remember it.
  11. It's tragically ironic that there are so many good GIFs of him that fit the situation.
  12. It's the most depressing time, of the yeeeeeeeear! Not a great year for me.
  13. I watched Pluto, having seen Julius give it a recommendation (he said it was superb, which i think counts) It WAS good. Although the ending was a bit *hand-wavey* and silly. All the same, it was an engaging story with some interesting themes. edit: something keeps deleted my spoiler tags
  14. Don't delete it! Rub it in his face!
  15. Backlash against who? If it is independent journalists and critics voting on the winner, why would they care about backlash. Why can't 2D games win? Why would a 'movie license' game be an insult to the industry (it's not even tied to a movie)? You're acting like it's a huge conspiracy.
  16. Hammers beating Tottenham with only 25% possession was particularly hilarious. Tottenham winning 3 manager of the month awards in a row and then only winning 1 point out of the next 15 was also quite humorous.
  17. I know the concept of giant animals fighting each other is a bit silly, but this one looks ridiculous. Why is Godzilla neon pink now? Why does Kong have a metal hand? Who made it?
  18. I've made this point before. You've got shows and films all over the timeline, but it's hard to say when they take place because the overarching plotlines are so similar.
  19. If it helps, there are only 3 episodes out so far.
  20. I really want to play Spider-Man 2 but can't reconcile buying a console to play one game! What should I do?
  21. That is an awesome trailer! When that music kicked in at the end, my excitement went through the roof!
  22. How exactly were those women typing in the chat while their hands are visible at all times hmmm? I hope someone got fired for that blunder.
