My two cents on Banjo and how it's aged @Ronnie , is that I played a tiny tiny bit of the N64 version. So without nostalgia I can say playing it on the 360/One it is still a fantastic and well made game. If you do get the chance to play it, try it out.

Don't ask the cost... Also preordered Persona 5

Ico controls were adequate for its time. SotC has a floaty camera, but the controls themselves always felt relatively solid to me. Less unresponsive so much as every action has a windup time and will be followed through. It's like playing Bayonetta and dodge offsetting combos all the time and then switching to Bloodborne and saying the dodge is unresponsive because you can't dodge roll out of a combo where you're swinging a large heavy weapon. That's not to say TLG complaints are unfounded, I wouldn't know without playing it to form an opinion. I'd warrant a guess though that it's less unresponsive so much as making the choice to have each action be that way.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

No no no, no ghosting. One of you hold the left side of the controller and the other hold the right side. Hilarity should ensue. -

I would compare the story potential of this to that of the Souls games and Bloodborne. Those games are chocked full of lore and have great storylines, but if you don't care to read the item descriptions you can easily miss out on a lot. You can miss out on entire areas of the game but still go defeat the end boss. I see it being similar to that, and I don't think it's a bad thing at all. -
I bet he's trolling and its a virtual pachinko game.

@Dcubed Over the shoulder melee, Ryse was that way.

Very similarly to a PC *gasp shock* Times are changing. Personally I think the length of the previous was quite long and the current consoles somewhat underwhelming in how much they improved. But with this change to an X86 architecture they can be very similar to PC, and have an OS that builds upon itself to work with better hardware, and without closing off older hardware. Every few years the GPU side of PCs makes a good change and better graphics are achievable. Not everyone can afford to upgrade BUT they can however still continue to play the majority of games that release on their older hardware. The most the end user does is set the graphics settings lower, something the developer would handle on the Console side of things. That's how to do away with generations really. Unified OS with a growing but steady API and not gating off games to certain machines based on hardware. They'll still drive their sales as some people always want the best and with time cost always decreases and they can phase out the older hardware. Or we can all just bitch and bitch and have buyers remorse that our 4 year ago or machine didn't give us 4 years of enjoyment. Iunno, either hypothetical works for me. I like bitching about stuff.

You didn't outright say it but you insinuated plenty hence other people's obviously sarcastic and facetious replies.

At this point we've seen more of this game.

I'm dubious of what this console will manage. 6TFLOPs is a nice buzzword. But to me it means AMDs upcoming 480 GPU. Which most likely means excellent 1080p performance and graphics and possible 2560x1440 performance (so grand for all those console gamers playing on monitors, unlikely to be supported really) but 4K is still out with any amount of eyecandy and framerate. But that's PC performance. With more RAM and better CPUs.

I'm too shy to ask a handheld to dance with me though.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

That could work. It would be very similar to Shadow of the Colossus in that case. -

Yep. Open world fantasy RPG. Create a character and build a class and jaunt across the countryside killing creatures and doing quests. Similar to Fallout 3/NewVegas/4 and The Witcher.

Lords of the Fallen is a crappy Dark Souls. It shamelessly lifts the mechanics and has a few ideas of its own, but nothing feels nearly as tight and polished as the From Software series. It's not a bad game, I recommend it, but I recommend the Souls games more highly. The first and third more so than the second (different director and some more questionable design choices.) and of course Bloodborne but it's playstyle is far quicker. Intimidating games but with patience or just plain stubbornness anyone can get through them. Intimidating games to me, not necessarily JRPGs but anything that feels like it will be a huge investment of my time. I can have a hard time getting into/sticking with some of those games even if I greatly enjoy them. Less intimidated and more I try and split my time between too many things.

The Sega Saturn gambit...I'd rather not see that. I don't think a surprise release bodes well.

Tifantall....shit I did it wrong.

I would argue that X has a terrible world and awful character development. Party interactions do happen more frequently though and are made to have more of an impact. XII certainly didn't have great party characters and zilch on development as well. The overall world I found to be far better and more interesting. Gameplay wise I think they're both pretty good for different reasons though I think XII has more to do. Or more that I find interest in perhaps.

FUCK YEAH. Played the shit out of this before but never finished it and couldn't really get back into it with my current means. Picking it up on PS4 will be perfect. I don't recall all the details but it's something silly like not opening certain chests early on. I don't even think there is a clue. It's just a huge fuck you move for not using a guide basically. Even Drakengard didn't do something that dickish...though Nier does. I'm on a tangent.

Best uses of licensed music in games
Nolan replied to dan-likes-trees's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Not used in game, but a great use of the music all the same. Saints Row 4 has a few set music tracks that are well done. Aerosmith in the intro, later on characters jamming out to Just a Friend. -
To be fair with their trend of backwards compatibility a new handheld shortly after new games isn't much of a big deal. And it definitely makes sense to release Pokemon on the handheld with the larger install base even though it is a system seller, there are plenty who can't upgrade just for it.

26. 27 in July. 86 on the inside. Possibly just dead on the inside but I go with 86.

I can give the Midwest American perspective on highway driving. Don't indicate, speed like mad, and make rude hand gestures at anyone even slightly annoying. But seriously all the advice here is good. And if people are right on you and you don't or can't go faster or move out the way, ignore them. They can get frustrated all they want, just stay in your comfort zone.

My Vita and 3DS both last in standby for plenty of time. Actual use both with 4-5 hours as I adjust brightness. My Vita no longer turns on sadly though.
