SSD is not shorthand for non mechanical memory. SSDs are quite simply Flash memory. Literally the same stuff as in USBs and SD cards. SSDs are expensive for their size and speed and that the memory is meant to be longer lasting than typical removable media.

As far back as the Wii Nintendo has allowed Netflix apps. I'm not sure about Amazon video, but I do know that Hulu is also available to Wii U and 3DS. I doubt that it would change with the NX, as it's literally just allowing an app to stream data. Not allowing DVD or Bluray playback is likely and will always be just a silly cost saving cut because of licensing fees. (Or at least that use to be the reasoning ala OG Xbox). Hell, if I recall rightly a jailbroken Wii could play DVD movies with a bit of software. It's just Nintendo being Nintendo I guess?

Ha, coincidentally my nephew was playing Animal Crossing on the GC just last week. I think it's the only reason the GC is still hooked up, occasional AC sprees.

What are the numbers on the 3G PSVita? Is it really worth it for Nintendo to offer that functionality? Personally I wouldn't go for a more expensive 3/4G model since (at least here) it incurs additional monthly fees through a cellular carrier, big carriers in the US automatically make it around $30 just for a small data plan. The other issue is, it's common for the consumer to not have a choice in carrier. I think the PSVita 3G is AT&T only for instance, I have Verizon and see no need to get a second service just for a gaming device :/ I just don't see many pluses to 3 or 4G being included unless it's somehow free, which would be a huge cost to Nintendo.

That's essentially correct. 720p is far less demanding than 1080p, but given how most of the best looking games aren't native 1080p devs are already using that extra power on other areas, and most don't really have interest yet in two versions with differing graphical settings. (Ala PC) there are a few games on console that I recall allow for choosing between locked 30fps and unlocked possible 60 but with drops. And I think FFXIV allows for a resolution choice with similar trade offs. But the way consoles are going with the mid gen refresh, I'm guessing this two version different settings thing will become more common.

I agree, they need something with longevity. For too long now it's felt like catch-up. Anything less than 720p is too small, anything less than a high quality fast refresh IPS panel is unacceptable. Ideally a OLED would be fantastic (though apparently they can have burn in issues) LED would also be great. Reading a bit one prices, the screen wouldn't be cheap perse but aren't prohibitively expensive. To replace an LG G4 LCD it runs about $60. I'm sure a manufacturer buying in bulk would have a much lower price. Nintendo has no real excuse except battery life. (I don't find phones directly compatible with a gaming handheld in that regard unless the phone life was take exclusively during intense games.) but a Wii U type situation of just having to power a display...no excuse.

Haven't bought yet but seriously considering going to the bank for a small loan and purchasing a 1959 Cheverolet Apache truck. With a non stock 1969 292 inline 6 engine mated to a nice 4 speed. It has some scrapes and needs some love but the price is so right and that engine sounded so wonderful. American Muscle ya know....we'll probably not. Biggest thing it needs is a rehaul on the brakes though. Single reservoir for all four brakes, one set goes, they're all gone. Yeah... If it's still there next Friday....

I don't play so I wouldn't win, but for funsies. Pay off my truck and car (not bloody much), buy a moderate house with land(300k ish) and continue working my job as I already do. I'd likely buy some other various knickknacks and electronic type shit. (Big ole 4K and games I won't have time to play). Simple fact is I've got 30 years until retirement age and 1 million wouldn't be enough and wouldn't last, and is less than a full lifetime of wages. Granted I wouldn't work overtime any more, and likely would only do about 800 hours a year instead on close to 2000 like current. I'd just try to be comfortable basically. Edit, public doesn't matter to me. I can happily be enough of a cunt to tell people to piss off if they're just trying for money.

I actually loved the bit of BE I played. It felt fresh but familiar. I don't, I've been tempted before, but decided I prefer the Korean cheap 2560x1440 27". That was before the panels came down in price for real brands though. The Korean ones were just Samsung panels that didn't fully pass QA. Further thinking on it I'm not sure I'd get much use from an ultra wide monitor anyways.

Ignoring Ronnie and back to DPI, a more suitable example 2560x1440 27" screen. 108 DPI 40-60cm away. Granted yes, still further than handheld devices but wonderful display all the same, half the distance and more than twice the DPI seems good to me. And yes, I have gone back and used old lower DPI devices. It's just not that big of a deal. Granted, there is no real reason for Nintendo to do such a low resolution screen other than cost, which is silly because a small good quality panel should be relatively affordable. I just don't see a reason to them trying to cram 600ppi into a display. Especially when the majority won't see the difference.

Wow. I mean, I guess fuck me for using my 1080p 50" plasma. That 45 DPI is just far too shit. DPI doesn't mean shit. It's marketing bullshit. The higher the resolution the better without a doubt, but DPI doesn't mean jack unless you're a pixel counting jackass.

Got an email the other day, PSplus is raising its price $60/year $25/ 3 months. I haven't looked exactly, but I haven't really seen this mentioned elsewhere.

Beat this last night. Feel like I've missed a ton of content. Like locked doors I have no clue how to open. Jumped into NG+ and well....I won't be playing it. It greatly reduced the amount of health you have to the point of which most bosses default attacks and some regular enemies are OHK. I do not have the skill or patience for that.
