  1. Continuing the trend of admitting how old most of us are getting, a thread about savings, investments and monies! Anyone consider themselves especially savvy in this department? Anyone willing to offer advice? For example, I've recently been considering filtering a chunk of savings into a Stocks & Shares ISA, but I don't know enough about the market to know where to start or what you can trust! When I bought a house, one of the best things I did was get a Help to Buy ISA. If you're even slightly considering a house, you should get one of these ASAP! Or, if you have a bit more money and a bit more time, there's the LISA (Lifetime ISA) which can be used for a bonus either towards a house deposit, or withdrawn when you're 60 for a bonus. Nobody needs to talk about their salaries or anything, but with what you do have, are you smart with your finances? Do you bother budgeting, do you save at all, or are you blowing your paycheck every month? There's also the concept of FIRE which I believe has been discussed before. Financial Independence / Retire Early (may be paraphrasing, don't remember it exactly). The idea of that is to live frugally and save/invest smartly to reach a magic number so you can retire early. @Mr_Odwin I believer has talked about it here. Something I've never touched on at all is actual, proper investment, as in, monitoring the market and buying and selling. It's a lot like gambling, and takes expertise I'll never have. But does anyone here dabble? Doesn't @ReZourceman work advising in this department? And to close on a bit of advice from myself, despite knowing next to nothing, I understand that if you can get a pension, you should max out your employer contributions! That's what I'm doing now that the company I work for has grown big enough to be required by the government to offer a pension at all.
  2. Hey Paj, been a long time! Is "where do I stand?" more than a rhetorical question? Difficult to say without the ins and out and the hows and whys. Nice to see you back
  3. They would have to give just the smallest indication of how soon it might be out on Switch, for me to consider switching (...) to that platform, otherwise keeping my original PS4 backing and getting it asap is definitely the most attractive idea.
  4. Impossible to say since we don't know enough about it, but it definitely doesn't have to be, the app could use an api like the Playstation app, which knows what game you're playing and manages messages without connecting to the console at all.
  5. I use siri for a countdown, alarm, or reminder, but anything else I just feel a bit silly. Having experienced both your accents first-hand, I'm finding something hard to believe here :p
  6. I've heard some bad things about it! Like it gets very difficult single player (but doesnt have online multiplayer) to the point you have to grind to level up to make further progress.
  7. Is it just me or does this look kinda graphically dated? The main character's hair and facial textures etc. feel like they look no better than ME3. That said, watched 10 seconds of the trailer muted just to see if they moved away from the CoD vibe and it's certainly looking better as long as I can make my custom FemRyder look nothing like that bland cookie-cutter hero....
  8. I think people using their phone browser are probably doing a lot of pinching and zooming to make it functional. Which is probably just showing a lack of awareness of how much better it could be :p
  9. How about some nice artwork for the wall, a framed poster or print.
  10. In an ideal world, we'd move to a new forum software that's a bit more mobile friendly/responsive. It's certainly a possibility, although limited by the size of our existing content and peoples' free time.
  11. I don't think being very critical of TV and Movies is the same as hating them/not watching them. I'm sure some communication is the answer here, just point out that constantly being overly critical of things doesn't make for an enjoyable atmosphere. If the other options are to be miserable and put up with it, or break it off, you have nothing to lose. Pretty sure my ex disliked a lot about me for a long time and instead of talking to me about it, it just made us grow apart. In my current relationship we've already both openly mentioned dumb things the other one says or does and its very healthy. It's not about "changing" someone but about that person realising some of the things they say or do are probably automated and that everyone can live without them.
  12. Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite Mass Effect Persona 4 For Nintendo, there was Metroid Prime. It wasn't a narrative that was forced upon you, but one you could explore by scanning and reading. It was awesome to discover the lore, instead of just observing it.
  13. What's a shame is that Kodi's getting a bad rep from this. I've been using Kodi since it was XBMC/Openelec, as a way of streaming video files (using it for ripped dvds and unlicensed anime etc, when I was in my late teens/early twenties) to various devices from a NFS. Even back then you could get illegal stream services etc, but that was a long way from what most people were using it for. I remember it was a lot of fun trying to configure it to run on various chipsets, the first raspberry pi, and control it using a phone app or such. Now it's becoming synonymous with the illegal streams, as people sell Raspberry Pis and Firesticks with Kodi and the illegal plugins already loaded. And as Rez points out, some people don't even know they're doing anything wrong (although that's pretty ignorant, nothing is free). However, despite this, piracy must be down quite a lot, right? Netflix is spending $6bil on original programming this year or something. Steam generates millions for developers. Gabe Newell said once that the only way to beat piracy is to make it easier than piracy, and Netflix, Steam and such have made great strides in that department.
  14. Yeah that screen looks amazing. My tablet is a bit outdated and slow, so it's pretty awesome that this console will give me a bonus way to watch Netflix etc portably, in bed, on a plane and such, and at a nice high resolution! Really looking forward to that. In fact, that must be a key selling point for them, buy a console, get a modern, fast, high res tablet with media apps, built right in!
  15. I wondered if it stayed inside the plastic and then you had to dry that after, but now that I say it, it sounds dumb :p so yeah assume it just ends up all over your windows and walls anyway.
  16. What were the glaring oversights?
  17. If only there was some service that brings things right to your house! :p Sell the Wii U on ebay, buy the Switch online.... Get a much better deal than the shafting you get from trading with high street gaming retailers.
  18. Where does all the moisture go with a Dri Buddi??
  19. You could be trolling me. Ain't no way I'm going to my order and clicking cancel.
  20. Well now you have a reason to put a door in
  21. Think I'm gonna avoid this trailer for a bit, til I give in, cos I'm weak.
  22. It's launching with functional multiplayer, with features to be added later. Why is everyone losing their minds over this? Not like we had high expectations in the first place.
  23. I kinda like the look of that electric air dryer... might get one of those myself. Couldn't you put a condenser dryer somewhere else, eg garage?
  24. Simply Games are great, very fast deliveries.
