I also don't understand why anyone would be psyched for RISE in the first place. Where's the market for Roman soldiers, QTE and graphics which get worse the longer the game is in development? The achievement graphic is also crappy. We really don't need "more information" instruction for every single cheevo, especially not if it's jarringly off-centre. Starting too feel like both console companies have lost the plot lately. Speak to me, Steam Box...

But saying that, the script and dialogue is way worse than all of Whedon's other series, and Buffy finished 10 years ago. It's enjoyable and silly enough to follow but it really surprises me how weak the characters and their interactions are right now.

I literally had all of those and I really wish I'd hung onto them too... I also had the morpher, Saba, falconzord and the Dragon Dagger.

Although I think it's more chilling listening to Oppenheimer and seeing holes in the buildings, than it is when you get the first glance of the monster himself. I wonder if it would actually make for a better movie-going experience if you avoid all the trailers so that first glance has more impact. On the other hand it's always possible the movie could totally suck and it won't matter at all.

Are you people high on something when you watch this show? Because I need some of whatever you're on. Talking-at-the-same-time comedy? Really? The only good joke was comparing the elderly people in the lobby to a scene from a zombie movie and then... to my absolute jaw dropping horror, they spoiled that by explaining the joke in the next breath. Just like the previous ep the only part worth watching was the last 3 minutes - because it didn't have any jokes and these people can not write jokes at all.

Going on holiday shortly after this is released and I'm trying to decide... this or Fire Emblem (which I never got round to picking up).

It's nice to bump into a fellow sane person around here :p Regarding the S9 premiere, which I just caught up on, I didn't think much of the first double episode up until the last minute. The flash forward was sweet, written surprisingly, competently succinctly (unlike this sentence). It was that slightly sappy niceness that we had way back in the first season with the rooftop and the blue horn that's made me stick with it all these years later despite no longer finding it very funny. And y'know what? The closing jokes with the receptionist (who was a good actor and a good character) actually gained a slight audible chuckle from me, which I don't think happened at all last season.

Man this is hugely disappointing. I was hoping for something along the lines of Shadow Complex meets Arkham Asylum. Maybe the beginning is just a bit too on-rails and makes for a poor demo? Thanks for taking the time to post all your impressions.

Yeah the Phoenix Lander found subsurface water in uninhabitable parts of Mars, and they found ice (frozen CO2). But now they've actually tested for water in the soil, and found quite a lot of it (relatively speaking).

The Dual Shock analogue sticks have always been the controller's biggest let down for me. They move far too easily making precision a lost cause at any point between 0 and 1. Not that many games make much use of analogue movement these days anyway.

Anyone got an OTG cable working with the 2013 Nexus 7 (unrooted)? I've read some positive reports on Nexus Media Importer working but that YMMV depending on the choice of cable... @Ashley @Sheikah

Why is that such a surprise? You could wait and watch it in a week if you want, it's no more effort either way for me. I'd rather watch it ad free and at a time of my choosing... Regularly scheduled programming is dead! I thought the special effects were the biggest letdown :/ The superimposition of the explosion was weak, jumping out of the building had that totally unnatural deceleration that always made Smallville's super-jumping look terrible. The cracks in the road were clearly intangible green-screen... One thing looked good though:

I just bought my car insurance on my credit card. Thinking it had come out a little cheaper than expected, I decided to get the Nexus 7. My card was rejected twice probably because I had just spent a chunk on it moments earlier I chose not to take this a sign, called the bank and gave in to the shiny shiny Nexus.
