  1. Before you suggest it to anyone, ask yourself if they've ever bought anything really, really stupid :p
  2. Yeah very cool, I love the look of OR. I think OR and omni-treadmills are going to lead to a generation of super-fit gamers :p
  3. It's completely Nintendo's fault. Everything about the Wii U makes it seem like a Wii add-on. When they announced it, they just showed the controller, the console was in a box in the background and you had to look for images online later on to see what it looked like. And what does it look like? A Wii. They should've called it Wii 2 or something completely different, and not underestimate the importance of the system itself. Even if you really want to focus on the main feature of your system, people need to know it's not something you buy for the Wii, it's something you get when you buy a whole new, more powerful console. It's a no-brainer to anyone reading this thread right now, but to parents and average joes, it is not clear enough. When the Wii came out, there were groups of non-gamers at my uni chatting about going home to play Wii Sports, it's no wonder the Wii was a success, it did a tonne of things right in regards to achieving great sales figures and widening the market. The Wii U did pretty much the opposite thing.
  4. Yeah used the right way credit cards are great. Don't buy something unless you are 110% certain that you will have the money for it well in advance of any interest being tacked on and you're sorted. When I started my job I couldn't buy an iPhone 3GS from Carphone Warehouse because I had no credit rating. Now I'm golden, bought loads of things but never paid a penny of interest. Good credit cards are also an extra layer of security in certain purchases (you can claim a refund through your bank if you get ripped off). I actually have two, my second one - Post Office Platinum - has no fees on overseas purchases, so I use it to buy things I don't want the bank to charge me conversion fees on, or when I go on holiday. I can pay both cards off through my online banking so I don't even wait for the bill to come in. I can't really advise anyone to get credit cards though, because used wrongly they're a huge financial trap.
  5. It's the same company, Spryfox. It even seems from the video above that this game has a grid layout and involves putting 3 things together which then become something else...
  6. I think we determined that there's a limit to the number of people that will receive a notification when you mention them en masse.
  7. Thread ripped like. We nearly bought a house about 1.5 years ago, even put in an offer. Although we went intentionally low and the house was really nice, we weren't expecting to get it but still that's as close as we've come. Mortgage rates are at an all-time low, now is the time to get one, although house prices are starting to go back up. My parents paid between 11-14% most of the time they were paying theirs off, now you can get 2-3% mortgages. However the amount you need to put down in order to be paying less than rental figures is still huge. There are other options, for example the government has an incentive scheme at the minute where you put up 5% on a new build and they lend you up to 20% which you don't have to repay until the house is sold. Anyway we wound up spending all of our savings on a holiday next month so mortgage is out of the window for many years now... There was another house we definitely could've gotten but my other half didn't like it. After she said no, the price dropped and dropped and it eventually went to auction. It had a flat roof and wasn't in the nicest area, which was the offputting part. But it was also really nicely done up inside. I guess it was a bit of a bachelors pad, the owner was an electrician and had installed all this amazing custom lighting, had one of Sheffield's Epic Views™, had all been refurbished with a great kitchen, and most interestingly was an upside down house (from the road you went into the top floor, with a living room/kitchen/diner, then went downstairs to 3 bedrooms/bathroom).
  8. Ah right if it's just in a post then that's an easy one, I'll take a look when I get a mo.
  9. Yeah I wasn't expecting them to make it. They must've made a real push in the last week, although I didn't see any evidence of it myself. If you pre-ordered, it's worth mentioning here that they will be printing the name you put down on your delivery address in the manual. So if that's someone else, contact Ghostlight!
  10. I don't fully understand the idea, where would this countdown appear? In a post, in your notification area, in a user's sig? To everyone or just those that opt in? Do you set it for yourself or does someone set it for everyone? Whilst the concept itself sounds easy to build, it might still be quite difficult to integrate with the forum software.
  11. I'm guessing you mean original Xbox? That's also new to me! I've seen people mod the breakaway before but never expected there'd be market enough to manufacture them. Although personally I'm partial to connecting 360 controllers up with one of these
  12. So your only real issue is that the game goes into a box and the achievements are full screen, rather than the game going darker in the background kinda like a lightbox? As long as the game remains running in the background and you can presumably get right back to it by hitting guide again, there's really no difference... I absolutely agree with you regarding Windows 8. In fact, full screen menus etc are the main reason I will never upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8. When people said they wanted the start button back, I think there was a little confusion, what they actually wanted was the start menu back, so they could open it without obscuring/interfering with what they were doing. However I don't think it really carries over to Xbox the same way... unless you frequently hit the guide button on your 360 and find yourself thinking "thank goodness I can still just about make out paused state of the game I'm playing in these spaces around my achievements menu which is covering 50% of my screen". For me it's OK if a console, with its far simpler nature than a PC, works more like a Smart Phone. If I hit home on my iPhone I can go to any other app, and when I go back into Plants vs Zombies or whatever, it will load instantly and still be where I left it.
  13. Worst purchase of the year for me. I did a quick google and thought I saw that gamespot had given it 89%, so I just jumped in since I had the money in my account already. I was not expected the mess of a game I got Although I wouldn't say it's "2.4" kind of bad...
  14. What's the interest rate on your overdraft?? It shouldn't be more than any prospective loan you're considering.
  15. Seems like a good thing to me You know sometimes you play a game a few times and you think "I wish I could play this again for the first time, to get that feeling back". Well, you can!
  16. I think I speak for all sane people when I say fuck exclusive content.
  17. Anyone picked up Turtles? It's buggy as fuck and the split screen is the smallest/most squashed I've experienced, ever. And I played Resi 5 split screen. It's basically two 4:3 displays side by side. But you can't do co-op on the trial (they probably realised that would put people off). It's kinda fun and has its moments, but feels half finished.
  18. A large table in the database crashed during some routine maintenance and took a long time to repair.
  19. If you were looking forward to Shippuuden today, I'm going to save you some trouble and tell you to drastically lower your expectations now, as it's two episodes of flashbacks and very little progress.
  20. Ah yeah, that's a steal then Nexus really are cornering the market at the mo and with the best prices too, hard to argue with anything they're doing.
  21. Where did you get it? There's 5% off at Currys/PC World with code NEXUS5 or TABL5. I was going to buy one today but I weighed it up and decided I'd still prefer a little Windows 7 machine with a keyboard.
  22. I was going to buy the Vita version of Stealth Inc a few days ago, but didn't. Score
  23. Ha I removed my post because I realised it was too early in the morning and I was defaulting to sarcastic git again :p
  24. I thought you could get the PS4 version discounted post-launch if you bought the PS3 version?
  25. Thank God it's fairly cheap. Any more than that and I'd really have thought this was the beginning of the end for Nintendo.
