They're a lot of fun, but sometimes they feel rushed, like an easy way to cheaply get a game out. In the N64 and GC days, we had an abundance of awesome 3D platformers, a great time to be a platformer fan, especially with Rare on board. Mario 64 was a big step forward, and so it's difficult for me not to see big budget 2D platformers as a step backwards. I understand when indie studios do it, I understand when Nintendo makes the odd one, but I think it's gone a bit too far.

I didn't get an invite, presumably because my account isn't associated with a PS4. But by the sounds of things I'll definitely get a PS4 in time for the beta.

The biggest flaw of map on gamepad isn't that you have to look down... it's that only one of the four players gets one during local multiplayer.
-
Forgot to ask this but...

Just occurred to me that I'm actually away all weekend so there wouldn't be much point jumping in for that I'll probably get one for the beta though.

6h ago they were still tweeting that you can enter, someone said 5pm tonight (BST) but no source. If I get in I honestly might just go out and buy a PS4.
-
Did you get Transistor yet? Did you know that imageshack is no longer free so your sig is not coming back?

Our host seems to have implemented some pretty hefty caching because of the load spike over E3. It's basically just grabbed the html from someone's session and set it over the homepage. Pretty effing stupid to be honest, I think that's the last straw with this host.

Weird that it's digital only but no worries, I'll take what I can get looking forward to it.

No-one else is especially psyched for Destiny?

As if announcing no Vita games in the conference wasn't bad enough, one of the Vita games everyone was hoping for is now non-Vita...

It has been a long time but I will play some mafia

My favourite thing about that shot in the field is the people. Even if its pre-rendered, it's an impression of what they're aiming for/trying to achieve. One thing I didn't like much about Twilight Princess was how dead and fake the overworld felt. It needs people moving around, going about their lives like they did in Skyrim. Even like they did in Majora's Mask. Skyward Sword achieved this somewhat but limited it to basically one town, entirely separate from the rest of the game. -
True of 90% of things you will see at E3 :p

Can't believe they cracked jokes about a new Star Fox... and then didn't reveal one. I think there was part of me really expecting a 2D Metroid. They keep churning out new 2D platformers, why not that one? Anyway Zelda sounds amazing to me, that was enough for my liking. Not enough to make it a good conference video, but enough for me to look forward to

Whilst my impressions towards the PS4 have also been cemented, it's not like anything has really changed for the immediate future. All the best titles are pencilled in for 2015 (except The Witcher 3/Bats which are a bit more set in stone). I did just get in the Destiny beta though.... I'll keep looking for the deal I want :p £330 with ACIV was so close.

Unless of course you're a big Halo fan... Halo 2 was huge amongst the community and the multiplayer was by far the best. When they turned off the servers on the original Xbox, players stayed online for about a month in order to keep it going. According to Bungie, there were 5.3 billion games of Halo 2 played in its lifetime. They're bringing it back visually updated but otherwise wisely untouched. It may not have been full of surprises, but if you were on the fence about the new consoles in general and a big Halo fan, there's definitely a reason to jump in now. Note: this doesn't include me. Huh? Last year's big problem was that it was all about TV, Sports and Kinect.

When Uncharted 2 was shown off at E3, it looked amazing. When it came out, it looked just as amazing.
-
Huh, funny you should say that, I thought Batman was really smooth to control. I recently just finished Arkham Origins and then went onto Infamous 2, the latter was way more clumsy in navigating the city, dropping down on enemies etc.
-
Kinect and Vita dropped like they were scalding :/ well, at least there will be some cross-buy titles and Grim Fandango on Vita, plus we're getting Rogue Legacy soon still....

That bit in the Wayne tower was just amazing, the city looks fantastic (apart from a distinct lack of pedestrians, but I'm sure that's just due to the stage in the game's development). What would really serve this game well is some long, in depth indoor sections that take some time to progress through, akin to the original game. Whilst I do want to play as Batman in Gotham, there are few open world games that really benefit from being open world, they should go back to their strengths with the Bioshock/alone in the dark-esque feel of the first title wherever possible.

Definitely an exciting one to finish the conference on, but like some others I really wasn't grabbed by U3 the way I was by 1 and 2. Will have to wait for the more action packed trailers

The atmosphere is definitely helping now. Whilst it felt bland before, it needed a little sprinkle of cinematic action to get me interested. There's not a lot that separates one cover shooter from another in terms of actual gameplay, it comes down to the maps, layout etc. The first reveal was like a corridor shooter with popup targets, but the buildings in the E3 footage remind me more of The Last of Us.
