Strange as it sounds Mircosofts Peter Moore believes gamers will/should buy a Wii over the highly priced PS3. In a recent interview with Reuters he said:

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3? People are going to buy two [machines]. They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii for the price of one PS3. People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product, like what I believe Wii will be, with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid."

The man speaks sense.....Its exactly what I'll be doing...getting a 360 for the good graphics and games that aren't available on the wii (like pro evo, halo, etc more adult games I guess) and for my primary console, I'll be geting a Wii for all those nintendo classics and innovative gameplay.

All I need is the cash....

As I sayed in the general E3 talk, he talks sense. I will be getting both, they offer different styles of gaming, together the repressent the complete gaming package.

I was already thinking about getting an Xbox 360 but this E3 has made it certain. Peter moore was the best speaker out of the 3 conferences IMO and I liked the way he was just speaking and explaining whats going on with Xbox 360 and Live.

I was amazed to hear him say that, but he echoed my thoughts. :)

I'll get a Wii first, then perhaps an Xbox360 if there are enough games that catch my interest. I like the look of Gears of War and that Pinata game.

Kudos to Microsoft and Nintendo.

Didn't Nintendo said last year that they didn't mind not being the only console in the household? I think this is a response and a positive one... truth is... meaninless wars are not worthy make peace and instead of loosing customers for the other company you might win some because of just that.

Fairplay is so nice to see, unlike some other company did some days ago...

even today... Sony completly spited on GTA licence; saying it was important to PS2 but it won't be important for PS3... it's like... spiting on the plate and for what? it's not exclusive anymore on launch... But, if I recall correctly the game who probably sold more PSP's was GTA and there's a new one coming... it's that game that keeps PSP's selling to my eyes, but still they didn't even think twice before spiting on it...

Although these things seem meaningless why should Rockstar be simpatetic with them? Sony has support based on how much they sell but when that ends (if it ends) they are screwed. What they did (concerning GTA) was pretty stupid as if they are raged animals who atack pretty much everything.

It's good to keep consistence in dialoge and not spiting on things just because. And the tendency today for hardcore gamers is having more than one console, it's just inteligent to suggest just that, a company must show they are open minded.

well with the Wii being so different their is lots of room for both microsoft and nintendo in the market place, the only next gen war is sony Vs microsoft. I was going to get PS3 and Wii, but with the PS3 price, 360 seems better, except the power brick which I hate, seems like 360 and Wii for me, when I get the cash:)

I'll be investing in my PC for graphics (like a 360, only with Medival Total War 2 and Counter-Strike on it), and I'll have a Wii for 110% pure Nintendo gaming goodenss.

Interesting and very surprising to hear, I wonder if Nintendo would respond to this message?

Yeah, looks like they will......i was talking to Shigsy there 10 mins ago and he said they were in discussion with M$ about releasing an Xbox Wii-60 package.

An new iteration of the Xbox that can interconnect with the Wii and utilise and integrate the functions of both machines seamlessly. We'll have to wait until xmas 07 though.......

.....eh not!!!: peace:

That's a very nice of MS and it isn't the first time either.

However I wonder if there isn't some tactic behind it, maybe convince Ninty Fanboys to buy an X-Box by saying good things about Ninty's system or they want to push Sony out of the market by making the consumer believe that the ideal package is X-Box and Wii. After all MS and Sony compete for the exactly same market.

M$ are sneaky little ppl arnt they :) cause they know that Wii is very lowly priced and will have room for another console along side it. M$ decided to step in that place, this could be the start of a friendship between 2 mass companys :D

It's the truth I'm afraid, if you can afford a PS3 chances are you won't be able to enjoy that experience 'to the max' if you stretch for another console.

$600 then say $100 for 2 games, $50 for an extra controller.. It's an expensive system.

Microsoft have an edge because there's a price war coming, they're already established and there's a little package I've heard whispers about.

A limited edition Halo 1, 2 and 3 box set remastered for HD on the xbox 360.

I think Microsoft know when they're beat.. and they can take the defensive stance.. but this is an offensive stance against PS3.

Americans and Europeans just can't afford this.. Japan might be able to because of brand loyalty.. a stronger economy and more competitive prices at home.

Sony are in trouble this generation and I think a lot of people are going to buy a $200 Wii with $100 of games and accesories.. and I think there is a huge band of middle class people who could afford if they wanted to- buy a 360 and a Wii.

Price wars are coming, you need to factor that into the equation.. Microsoft are probably gonna cut the price to coincide with the PS3 launch and it's gonna catch Sony with their pants down.

I'd love a PS3.. I've had a PSone and two on launch- but this is just too far.

Losing many key titles to Microsoft Sony has lost much appeal.

Jak and Daxter is dead, Resident Evil is available multiplatform, Grand Theft Auto for the 360.. Forza and Project Gotham are impressive titles.

The only thing the PS3 has me excited about is WipeOut- and F-Zero is a pretty strong competitor.

Unlucky Sony- you've lost me. Japan is expendable really, MistWalker studios might spark a chain reaction in Japan.. I'm skeptical but Microsoft are not going to be losing out if Japan gives them the cold shoulder.

They can still obliterate Europe and much of America.

I see what you mean Nintendork. It seems as though Sony has no idea what to do next gen. There is nothing that makes the PS3 worth buying, and even there was it wouldn't be worth the $600+. I expect the 360 and Wii gaining back a big chunk of market share.

Microsoft have convinced me. I'm tempted by the online experience and graphical capabilities of XBox 360. Originally I was going to buy a PS3, now I doubt I will. At $600 it is at a ridiculous price point. You can buy a luxury holiday for that. It's a month's rent. And that's not including any games.

XBox 360 is here now and already has some awesome games available on it. Plus that Halo 3 trailer is awe inspiring.

The only thing I don't like about it is the amount of noise made by the cooling fans.

I totally agree with Moore and he is correct. Of course it helps them out too but it's the truth. I was considering a while ago whether or not to get an Xbox360 or wait and hear about PS3. I decided to wait and to be honest I needed have bothered as my mind is still set on getting an Xbox360 (When it price drops). I'm getting a Wii without doubt though.

What Peter Moore really said was that he doesn't fear Wii, but he fears PS3. So he's actually insulting Nintendo and praising Sony.

This guy knoiws what he's saying, please the xbox and Nintendo fans. He also speaks sence. IMO Mircosoft and Ninny will wint he next gen.

It's not a criticism. He's pointing out that for the price of a PS3 you can get both a Wii and a 360 making the 360 sound like more of a bargain. The message he's sending out is that you can buy a 360 now and a Wii later - there's no need to hold out for the Wii. He's buying himself more 360 sales, not more Nintendo sales.

There's some clever psychology going on with this statement, but it's also true.
